Image for BCOF members to put in their blogs "Prompt: Use these words in your blog entry: hollowness, bliss, favorable, sweat, lime, and passenger."

The hollowness of this prompt is alarming. I wasn't sure what I could do with it at first. Then to my bliss I came up with something. I think I am more favorable to the prompts that don't make me think real hard because I usually complete my blog at 0dark30 when most people are still asleep. A little sweat never hurt anybody though. Life can't be all sweet. You have to have a little lime as well. After all I am only a passenger on this plane. I'd get bored otherwise. I don't really have time to get bored though. I write for https://www.allpoetry.com as well as https://www.thestarlitecafe.com and https://www.poetrysoup.com and that keeps me busy. I am also a peer support specialist working for the Salvation Army Huntington Corps in Huntington WV where we are preparing to launch Pathways of Hope. It is a program aimed at ending generational poverty. We work with homeless people, addicts, and other threatened populations. Along with all of that I am a part time student finishing my Regents Bachelor of Arts degree at Marshall University. I really do not slow down long enough to get bored!

Blog City image small "Prompt: Do you think, in some restaurants, choosing what to eat from an intricate menu can resemble an odyssey? If you had such an experience, how did you handle it?

I don't have that problem because I don't go to enough restaurants to say I go to them. I will go if somebody else is paying, but I really do not have the money to eat in them. I'm a student after all. The few times I have gone to a fancy restaurant I allow somebody else to order and then tell the waiter I will have what they are having. If it is a menu in a foreign language or names some foods that I have never heard of, I will usually look at the ingredients and try to figure it out.

"September 29, 2019

Good morning everybody. It's Sunday morning and there is no blog prompt from Image for BCOF members to put in their blogs or Blog City image small, which is as it should be. Although I feel the Sabbath is actually on Saturday, I still think we all need a day off. I'm waiting to go to church now. I pray you will go to church and most of all I pray you have a relationship with Jesus Christ. History itself discusses the resurrection. Jesus is exactly who He says He is: the living Son of God. "Repent or you will perish", Luke 13: 3.

** Image ID #1886542 Unavailable ** "Prompt: September 28 is National Good Neighbor Day. Write something about a good neighbor."

A good neighbor is anybody who helps out in an emergency. Jesus told a story in the Bible called a parable. It is found in Luke. In the story a man was walking along a road and was robbed by thieves. They left the man for dead at the side of the road. Three religious people cane by the man and passed him because they did not want to soil their hands. A Samaritan came walking by and did his best to help the man and probably saved the man's life. The thing to remember is that in Jewish culture the Samaritans were despised. They were treated as less than human. So Jesus asked His audience who had been a neighbor in the story.
Neighbors are willing to go the extra mile. The set their own needs aside and concentrate on the needs of others. They are selfless people. They serve because it is the right thing to do.

Blog City image small Prompt: "Tell us a flash fiction story about a boy in a striped hat."

I really don't know any stories about boys in striped hats. My muse has sort of gom=ne south on me as far as writing short stories is concerned or I may be able to come up with something. I do know a story about a boy in a multicolored coat. It would take a while to tell the story properly but his name was Joseph. He was his father's favorite child. As a result of petty jealousy his brothers sold him to slave traders, who sold him into slavery. He rose through the ranks and became second in command in his land. He met his brothers again when they came to him in need. He forgave them and reconciled with them. This story is found in Genesis.

Image for BCOF members to put in their blogs Prompt: "Do you feel a chill in the air? Tell us what you are most looking forward to about fall. Did you see there are snow storms coming already?

What I always look forward to in the fall, and the only thing I look forward to, is relieve from the heat. Summer time can often be well over 90 F. I like heat but too much of any good thing is still too much. I like it to be about 68 -75 degrees. After that I get uncomfortable. Fall though does not offer much that I look forward to. I don't like watching the leaves turn because I know they will soon be gone altogether. I don't like cold weather. Cold weather means I have to turn my heat on and it dries my sinuses and my skin. As far as the snow they are getting out west they can keep it. I hate snow. I bought a pair of boots but an=m not looking forward to wearing them. I'd lots rather waste my money. The cold weather is necessary to kill some of the insects, but there has to be a better way. I have thought about moving to a warmer climate, perhaps Georgia or South Carolina. I will be working soon though so it is doubtful I will go anywhere.

Blog City image small Prompt: "Tell us about your writing process – do you like music or quiet, is there a special place you go to work, do you type from the beginning or write notes with a pen and paper first?"

I use my table to write. I did have a desk but I now live in an assisted living facility with a small room and have no place to put a desk. As far as my writing process, it is undergoing change. I use to write using a lot of descriptive words such as adjectives and adverbs. Now I try to eliminate them all together and write in metaphors. I find this allows the reader to "interpret" the writing and shows them as opposed to telling them. It has won me several awards on other sites.

Image for BCOF members to put in their blogs Prompt: "Flash Fiction: Write a short story about a clock."

Tom hates clocks. Every morning his alarm clock wakes him up faithfully but waking up is not his favorite thing to do. "Alarm one of these days I am going to throw you out the window."
"Why? What have I done to anger you? If you throw me out I will be neglected! I will be gathered up for garbage and hauled away by the trashman! Tom, please don't throw me out!"
"Okay. I won't throw you out if you promise not to ring early in the morning waking me up."
"I promise never to wake you in the morning."
The next morning Tom is sleeping soundly. It is 6:00AM and Tom has to go to work. The alarm fails to ring and Tom continues sleeping. At 10:00AM Tom wakes up. "Why did you let me sleep so late Clock? Now I am in trouble with my boss! Out you go!"
Clock finds himself laying in the yard next to the garbage can. The trash collector is approaching. "Look what IK found! I have been wanting an alarm clock. This one has no issues that I can see. Okay Clock. Come home and live with me."

Blog City image small Prompt: "Have you ever visited a farm?"

I've never had a particular desire to visit a farm just for the sake of seeing one. I grew up on a 298 acre farm in West Virginia, so I am very familiar with them. We had all sorts of animals on our farm. We had pigs, cattle, horses, chickens, ducks, turkeys, rabbits, dogs, cats, guineas, and all sorts of wild life. We planted five fields of crops every year, and produced much of our own food. My mom would can most of what we grew, with the exception of meats, which we froze. We also picked wild raspberries, mountain berries (which are a wild red raspberry), wild blackberries, and fruits. We had a couple of orchards near our farm. They were abandoned orchards on an adjoining piece of property, and we would pick fruit there during harvest. Yes. I am intimately familiar with farms. If I had my way I would live on one, but am not able to do so.

Image for BCOF members to put in their blogs Prompt: "Which one of the seven dwarfs do you most identify with?"

To be honest, I never watched Snow White so I don't really know which of the dwarfs I would identify with. I don't even know all of their names. I know of Dopey, Grumpy, and Sleepy. I can identify in some ways with these ones. Grumpy is a take charge kind of person and I have that trait. I don't always use it but in an emergency I am pretty level headed. Sleepy on the other hand lives up to his name. I can identify with Sleepy because I have narcolepsy. Untreated I would sleep all the time. Dopey was the old me. I use to spend my time as high as I could get without killing myself in the process. I often overdosed and sat back to "enjoy" the ride. I'm glad those days are over because Jesus Christ cured me. I am now a recovered addict. I won't drink or use to tempt it. Life is good today. So back to the original question, I guess that when it comes right down to it I can identify with all seven dwarfs on some level. I am happy most of the time so I identify with Happy. I worked as an EMT so I identify with Doc. I use to be very bashful as well, though you would never know it now. So I idenntify with them all. If I were forced to choose one that I identified with the most I suppose it would be Happy. I am in a good mood most of the time. I enjoy life and I'm glad to be a part of it. So I identify with Happy.

Blog City image small "Prompt: "Life is too short to not have oysters and champagne." Chris Binkley What are your thoughts about this quote?"

I disagree with Christie on the oysters and champagne because I care for neither. However her sentiment is spot on. Life is much too short not to make the best of it. I don't believe in over indulgence, although I am an American. We tend to overindulge a lot. I just believe we should do our best to enjoy each day. I tell people to live each day as it it were their last because it very well may be.

Image for BCOF members to put in their blogs "Prompt: What are the advantages to indoor plants? What are the advantages to outdoor plants?

I have to ask a question in order to answer that/ Do you like to breath? Plants produce oxygen so having plants around assures that the oxygen supply is plentiful. I need to get some plants to have for my room. However I do not have a green thumb. I would end up killing a plant. I've had a few of them before and they died. I finally gave up' on raising them. Somebody said I over watered them and then again that I did not give them enough water. They also need a good deal of carbon dioxide to perform the photosynthesis and I don't talk much. I guess maybe I should give them a measure of baking soda. It has carbon in it that would make up for me not talking. Maybe I will try getting another plant. I'll get a Venus fly trap. Then when it gets hungry it will eat me. No, a geranium or fern would be fine I guess. We'll see. I probably won't get anything.
I have enough on my plate just trying to keep up with school and my writing. Iam also getting ready to start work soon.I will be working as a peer support specialist with the Salvation Army Huntington Corps' Pathways of Hope program. My first day will be November 5. My duties will include case management and mental health therapy. I specialize in addiction but double as a mental health technician.
