Niagara in the winter is spectacular. I went in February, we stayed at the Embassy Suites and our windows overlooked the falls. I saw it at night from the hotel and in the day did the stroll down to see it closer. The boat wasn't going when we were there. My husband wasn't thrilled about the temperatures but the sight was incredible. There's also a butterfly house not far from the falls that is so worth seeing. I couldn't believe how many butterflies surrounded us while we there.

I hope you find a way to get there, you won't be disappointed.

Oh, I agree. Crutches are not for the faint of heart. I've tripped other unsuspecting, innocent people with them. I've tumbled down stairs attempting to walk with them. They are the closest I'll ever get to stilts. "I'll pick up my sticks and shuffle." Yep, that's all you can do.

I have been lucky enough to visit Niagara Falls many times and it is always a breathtaking thrill. I've been tossed about in a boat and blessed by the spray/mist. It is really spectacular in our winter with the snow and ice as a sparkling backdrop. I'm sorry this dream has never been a reality for you.

Nicely done!
I can see how crutches can be demons. When I had to, after foot surgery, I opted for a cane. Luckily, I healed fast.

I hate crutches, they make my armpits and shoulders both hurt. And I've almost fell down the stairs trying to navigate with them more than once.

That's so funny. It's also true of cats. My older cat won't climb up but now that our kitten does, he's been climbing and exploring places he never did before. Sometimes they just need the right incentive.

People here in the United States were warned about climate change years ago. Our Vice President in 1993, Al Gore, was an environmentalist. He talked incessantly about the issue warning something needed to be done to avoid destroying our planet. People laughed at him denying there was any such problem. He was right, they were wrong. I need to answer this prompt if I have time today. Have a good one!

59 years is incredible.

I can't imagine a love that intense either. And I'm very much in love with my husband. It's my second marriage, we've been together 20 years and married 16 years. If I had foolishly stayed in my first marriage it would have been 50 years. I left him before our 30th.

I've read a lot of his sonnets and wondered the same thing about the woman. I didn't realize there were 100 of them Kåre Enga in Montana

that's a lot of mushy stuff.

Same sex marriage

PROMPT July 21st

Your son(daughter) just gave you the surprise of your life when they brought their same-sex significant other home to meet you.
What is your reaction? Are you shocked, pleased, in denial?
How would you handle this?

I wouldn't say I would be completely happy for them. I think their lives will be just a little harder than it needs to be.
However saying that, these days same sex marriages are so much more normalised than they used to be. Personally it wouldn't affect me. Everyone deserves to be happy and if having partner of the same sex does it for them so be it.
Even having a child in a same sex partnership is so easy these day. IVF is there for everyone regardless of their status. So that element can be discounted.
Australia was the second country in the world to agree to same sex marriage, but the division in the community that the vote caused was not nice. It brought to the fore the discrimination that still exists and that I would want to protect a child of mine from.
