An Answer

England’s history lies not in the horse,
though a noble beast, agreed.
For Scythians and the hordes of Genghis Khan,
Comanche and Sioux, born to ride the plains,
and the Irish and their racing steeds,
true equine peoples these.

But for us it is the humble oak,
donors of those wooden walls
that kept our freedom safe.
