The interactive story took a lot of work to create so this is for fun.
[Introduction]
Allow me to apologize for the very long and detailed introduction. This is one of my better works. Feel free to check out
 Dealing in Death  (13+)
You are traveling with a strange fellow...Death!
#798320 by DragonWrites~The Fire Faerie~
and add to my book.

You are Sharla, a beautiful warrior elf, who has magic powers and posseses a magical stone that guides you to far away places by a mere thought.

OR

You are Shadow, a dark warlock who has only one desire; to rule the world. You have to reach the Tower of Bellock and you only have one life to do it...or do you?

OR

You are Michael, a human archer who fights on the side of good and labors to save those who are lost. There's only one problem: you love to drink and only a witch can deliver you from the spell cast upon you.

Enter Death, who knows all there is to know about you and is the only one who knows where your true loyalties lie. For the evil one may not be the evil one and the pure one may truly be tainted. There's only one way to find out.

YOUR ADVENTURE BEGINS!!

There is but one rule I must impose: All of Death's words must be written in capital letters. For example:

Death replies, "SURELY YOU DO NOT DOUBT YOUR SENSES? THEY ARE ALL THAT YOU CAN TRUST IN THIS PLACE."

And I smile and say, "I doubt only myself."

"WELL THEN. THAT IS AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT PROBLEM, ISN'T IT?"

Before we go farther, certain things must be known for each main character. I find that if I lay it out, it's easier to follow later on.

Here goes.

You are a beautiful warrior elf by the name of Sharla DarkLeaf, hailing from the land of SylverDawn. It is known that you have magic powers and a magic stone but that is all.

You carry a long bow and a quiver of never ending arrows. That is a given.

You wear green clothes of the forest but possess a golden gown for those rare occasions when you appear before royalty.

Your hair is golden blonde with silver streaks that is long, past your knees, often braided, your eyes are gray, your lips a perfect shade of pink, full and shapely, nestled against pale flesh. Your cheeks are naturally rosy with sparkles dancing across them.

You are strong, lithe and powerful. You are still considered young by the elves, although you are over three hundred years old.

You have a few other weapons at your disposal:

2 daggers
A Staff of Light
1 long sword

All right, now you must know a few more details before we can continue.

The daggers can be used for up close and personal combat, so they are very important to have.

The Staff of Light is a very powerful staff. It has such power that the bearer can often not control it. The exception, of course, is you. You and the staff were made for each other.

It's called the Staff of Light because that is the one spell most possessor's could perform safely. The small blue stone at the top of the staff will glow and illuminate even the darkest place with warm, efficiant light.

The word is Bellaces.

You might want to make a note of that because the word must be 'said' in order for the staff to light. No tricks now.

The long sword is a great weapon to have since it causes the greatest damage. Unfortunately, it is weilded two handed. This means that you must strap it across your back, making it somewhat difficult to remove while in battle. It helps to have the sword in your hand before the battle begins, but that isn't always possible.

You also obtained the Orb of Forsaken Fire, which will create fire anywhere, even in water. You also received 1,000 copper pieces and 75 silver pieces. The exchange rate is 1 silver piece=175 copper pieces. Use the money wisely. Not all things are free.

You are Shadow Blacke, a dark warlock, and you carry no weapons for your magic is powerful enough.

You are dark haired and dark skinned, with a slight build, with amber colored eyes. You cut quite an intimidating figure. It would be more intimidating in you wore black, but alas, you do not dress in black, you dress in white.

You have a staff but that is all it is: a piece of wood. It has no magical qualities whatsoever.

You are truly glad to be with Death since you fear Him greatly. You'd rather have Him near you than hunting you.

You have regular spells, of course, but there are some of the more powerful that can't be dealt any other way, other than what I tell you. Two are known to you, three will be learned later...if you are worthy.

The two you know are:

AllConsumingFlames Spell

This spell will cause all around you to burst into flames. Unfortunately, the flames cannot be smothered. No water or any force of nature or man can put it out. Only magic can extinguish the AllConsumingFlames. You must not leave them burning, otherwise they will consume the world.

The words for this spell are Flare Belay Sha Du

You do not know the spell that would extinguish the flames so you also have obtained the book Magical Spells of a Single Purpose and Use which possess the spells that can only be used once before you forget them and have to memorize them once more. They are spells that are only good for one purpose.

In other words, if a spell is used for fanning flames and it summons a mighty wind, you cannot use the spell for propelling your ship upon a calm sea.

You have a dagger, just in case of combat, but it usually won't come to that since you are a magic user. You can also use your staff for a weapon.

Love Spell

This spell will cause one person, and one person only, to fall madly in love with you. Unless you remove the spell, the person will pine away and die. Even after their death, the spell will linger and their spirit will stalk you and all will be lost. For, the Love Spell can only be cast upon one person at a time. If the person dies, the spell can never be lifted and you can never utter it again. Not to mention that you'd have a hopelessly devoted spirit traveling with you and Death

The words for this spell are Amore Barreth Shame Durkke

You also have obtained the book Battle Magic and Spells of Shame which possess the spells that can turn the tide of battle and spells that can never be spoken of because they are so shameful. In other words, the spells of shame are the darkest magic arts a wizard can possess.

You are Michael Fawne, a human archer who fights on the side of good and labors to save those who are lost.

You love to drink but that is not truly your fault. A witch, beautiful though she was, cast a spell on you. She knew you were strong and she knew that you were good. It was under the guidence of Shadow that she cursed you. That's the way it goes.

Obviously, only the witch that cast the spell can deliver you from the spell. So it is that during your travels, you are looking for the witch.

You have a short bow and a quiver of arrows. Unfortunately, you are not an elf and therefore, your arrows can, and do, run out. You retrieve those you can but mainly you have to find ways to make more. Maybe you can obtain a quiver of never ending arrows from the elves during your travels. One never knows.

That is why you have 3 daggers, a whet stone, the means to melt and shape metal into arrowheads, a long sword and a throwing spear.

You have brown hair that hangs just past your shoulders, which you often tie back with scraps of leather, and green eyes. You are muscular and prideful, despite your humble beginnings.

You ignore Death often, choosing not to converse with him. Yet, he seems to enjoy cursing you with his clever statements.

Please note that the conversation used in the intro is up for grabs, for Michael and Death are speaking there.

Have I forgotten anything? Ah, yes...your curse. How foolish of me.

You are cursed to drink the foulest drink know to man and beast:

Blood Wine! That witch must have really hated you..

Blood Wine is the foulest drink known to man (I find I cannot stress that fact enough). Its name speaks for itself.

It is made by taking regualar wine and adding ogre blood to it. Believe it or not, the taverns do this regularly, for overly drunk patrons who insist on drinking.

This usually causes the drinker to believe the wine has gone sour at that particular tavern and they will stumble out and into the streets. It never fails.

Thankfully for you, tavern owners do this free of charge. See, the ogre blood is shipped in by the kegs from the knights slaughtering them. There is not a whole lot of wine involved in making Blood Wine, so tavern owners feel there is no loss. Hey, they have to get rid of the blood somehow, right?

Asking for skins or mugs of Blood Wine will get you strange looks if anything but they will never make you pay. If you like, you can tell the tavern keeper that you're trying to get your friend home. That usually works.

If I were you, though, I would find the witch and get this curse lifted quickly.

You have 95,010 coppers (which are like pennies) and 1,500 silvers. Exchange rate is 1 silver=175 coppers. You are the wealthiest character at this time. I just figured that if you were cursed to drink such a foul drink, you deserve wealth.

Happy, ugh, drinking!

From now on you will tell of your tales in first person.

Here are some other drinks and their costs for all the players to consume:

RUM
Rum costs 1 silver a mug or 175 coppers plus 85 coppers. In other words, 1 silver 85 coppers or 260 coppers.

ALE
You can usually have five mugs of ale for two coppers, so your drinking 'habit' comes fairly cheap. I mean, honestly, would you pay a lot to vomit foul tasting swill?

DWARF SPIRITS
Never fear, it's a drink not a short ghost with a bad temper. Dwarf Spirits taste great it's just that the only place to obtain them is at dwarf run taverns. Those are foul smelling, messy places. They are also few and far between, so you must make sure you have plenty of skins to carry extra Spirits in. In other words, you can't order one at any tavern you choose. Be careful with this because I'll be watching. Dwarf Spirits cost 1 silver a mug or 175 coppers.

Dreamberry Wine
Ah, to drink this elven concotion is truly heaven. Finding it, though, is hell. Unfortunately, you can only obtain wine an elven village or an elven brewer, and those are both few and far between. I wish I could say that you will be lucky and find one constantly, but alas, that would be lying. There will be times when you are completely out of wine (oh the horrors!). The upside to Dreamberry Wine is that the elves aren't a greedy lot. They are a proud lot. Which means that usually a lot of well placed compliments will usually supply you with more wine. Dreamberry Wine cannot be found in taverns but you may occasionally find a lucky traveler willing to part with some if they happen to have any. They do not take compliments, however, they take silver...lots of silver. Your best bet is to find elves. Most travellers won't take less than five silvers for a skin of Dreamberry Wine (and that's a deal!). Fortunately, you each have very good bartering skills.

All I ask is that you make it believable. In other words, a traveller will never go any lower than two silvers a skin, no exceptions, and that's with a long argument and a few of your items thrown in.

And, of course, BLOOD WINE is available for all those longing to drink it.

That will do for now. I must tell you that I expect you to be able to put a very large entry on your turn. Normally, I'm not that strict, but I want this to be good. Feel free to check out "Dealing in Death and add to my book but I'm just as strict there.

FROM THE BOOK:

YOU HAVE CHOSEN DEATH...UNFORTUNATELY

That wasn't one of the choices.

Okay, it was, but it was a trick.

I'm very cruel like that.

Go back to the first chapter and pick again.

Death is Death.

He wouldn't appreciate you trying to dictate his life from the inside.

Carry on, then, and please forgive the jest I poorly added.

So this journey ends before it begins.

You chose Death, after all.

Did you really expect the story to continue?

Okay, I'm through rambling.

Really...

Go back...

That was just so you all know that Death cannot be chosen. I thought the way it was in the interactive was the best way to portray it. Anyway, if you want to create your own character, email me and I will hear you out. If you want me to create one for you, email me and I will do my best. If you create your own, it must be as detailed as the ones set in stone above and you will email it to me so that I can carve it into Death's book and you won't waste an entry.

Well...what are you waiting for? Death?
SHADOW BLACKE

I turn and stare harshly at the horizon behind me. The sun has hung over the hills for far too long now and I know that there is magic lingering in the air. I can smell it. That is something only true born mages can do.

Allow me to introduce myself. I am Shadow Blacke and I wander the world seeking the darkest and oldest magics in existence. But most importantly, I am an assassin.

I would much rather kill a person than look at them. It is so much more gratifying and simplistic for me to mumble the words of a death spell rather than say good morning. And there you see me.

I was only fourteen when I was 'removed' from my village for killing my father. He couldn't really be considered my father since my mother was a whore and he was just her latest grasp of youth. So, the day he dared challenge me, I cut his life short.

The elders removed me promptly from the village and my mother didn't notice. They marched me to their borders and left me standing before the Sands of Destiny, a bleak dessert of blood red sands and harsh heat.

I waited until the next morning before I faced the direction of the village once more. I knew that the villagers had risen, sent the young ones off to the river to fetch the wash and cooking water. I smiled.

"Flare Belay Sha Du!" I said and my smile broadened when I heard the screams and saw the smoke. I sat upon the hard ground cross-legged and opened up the worn book of spells, the only possession left to me besides the clothes upon my back, and looked for the correct spell.

I found it. Water of Pure Refreshment the spell was called. I left my finger on its words and waited until there were no more screams and the sun hung high overhead. The children would be spared but only because I was young myself and I understood the hatred of parents' laws.

I looked down at the book once more. "Gref Blese Verr Sha Nore!" I murmured hesitently. Nothing happened. I read it again, with more power, more conviction. Huge plumes of smoke immediately rose from the village. The AllConsumingFlames had been extinguised and I was free to go on my way.

Most people, when they hear of my journey away from my village, think of me as cruel and evil and I usually cause them pain for their ideas. But, the most crucial thing for me is power.

I have battled many mages and witches and none have triumphed, all have died. There was one I kept alive long enough to soothe my needs but I killed as she slept, slipped poison into her dreams and watched her suffer.

Cruel and evil...I believe that sums it up.

So, now I stand at the base of the mountains of Shiir and think only of the climb I must make. Normally, I would use magic to rise to the heights available to me but this journey must be made without magic.

Why? I know what you are thinking. I am such an evil person, how could I obey the laws? Easy.

The mountain of Shiir is a well-guarded mountain and it has counter spelling capabilities. Any magic used is immediately absorbed and send in spellfire back at the caster. Not pleasant, I assure you.

Even now, as I look up at the large mountain, I see the black robed figure floating down toward me. I know immediately who he is. Death.

I cringe inwardly but back up a pace or two to allow the most powerful being to land before me. As he does, black robes fluttering in distinct contrast to my own white robes, I wonder if I should bow.

"HELLO, SHADOW BLACKE, MAGE OF MAGIC LONG LOST AND FORGOTTEN, SEEKER OF POWER. I AM DEATH."

"I need no introduction, sir," I say mildly as I bow at the waist. "What need have you of me?"

I can feel his eyes studying me, though I cannot see through the thick, black folds of his hood.

"I AM WAITING FOR MY TRAVELING COMPANIONS BUT THEY ARE, ALAS, LATE."

"Ah, well, if you don't mind, I was just about to climb Shiir."

"WE MUST WAIT, SHADOW, FOR THE OTHERS WILL BE ALONG SOON. I HAVE NEED OF YOU TO HELP ME ACHIEVE SOMETHING WONDERFUL."

"And what would that be?" I asked, not daring to challenge Death, the very being that could still my heart with a single touch of his bony hand.

"I WILL TELL YOU WHEN I TELL THEM, SHADOW,"

"So, I must wait, then?" I questioned, glancing at Shiir in mild irritation. "Is that it?"

"THAT IS SOMETHING THAT CANNOT BE CHANGED. WAITING."

I nod and sit upon the ground. Death waits, unmoving and silent, and I have no option but to do the same, though my mind is whirling.

Death seeks me? And who were these others? What could Death possibly want to achieve that mortals can help him do?

I sigh and lay back, shutting my eyes. Surely, a little rest wouldn't hurt. I'll just sleep for awhile and hopeful the other fools damned as I will come along soon.
A Non-Existent User
SHARLA DARKLEAF

I move through the shade of the great trees and try not become absorbed by the beauty that surrounds me. It is very easy for an elf, especially an elf maiden, to fall prey to the beauty of nature. I am not the exception.

I am Sharla DarkLeaf and I am an outcast. My people call me a Dark Elf but I am definately not that. Long ago, they deemed me 'worthy' of marrying the prince of SylverDawn but I found him lacking. Needless to say, I was immediately cast out when I refused him.

I have killed many thieves and brigands but I still crave purity and life. My killings were in self-defense, I must explain, and I have grown weary of death.

It is for this reason alone that I am leaving the woods I have always called home. It is for this reason that I am here.

I tried to return home when news of the prince's marriage to my sister reached me but the borders of my land were closed to me.

"Go away, Dark One, and never return!"

And that is what I shall do.

I have reached the edge of the woods at last and I can see the Plains of Unrest stretching out before me. But, even as I move my foot to enter the strange lands to begin my rebel life, I feel a strong pull. Looking to my left, I see the tall mountain of Shiir. For some odd reason, I feel drawn there, as though my life and hope, my only chance, resides at the foot of Shiir.

I carry a long bow and a quiver of never ending arrows, two daggers, and one long sword, all of which I managed to remove from my father's chest before I was cast out.

I was a warrior elf, defending the very land and people that now reject me. That pains me.

"Bellaces!" I say, and the staff that lit the dark folds of the forest went dark once more. The Staff of Light had been a gift to me from the forest when I was merely one hundred or so years old. Now, nearly three hundred, I have mastered it to perfection. But, there is always something new to learn from the staff.

I move toward Shiir, my feet moving of their own accord. Whatever calls me to the mountain does so with the belief that I would obey and my soul finds no reason to disagree.

It takes me a long time to reach Shiir. I had set out of the woods just past dawn and now it is nearly night and Shiir still seems as far away as before. I close my eyes for a moment, taking in a deep breath, and opening them, discover myself standing before the large mountain that had never drawn closer all day.

There, at the base, a man in white sleeps. Standing near him is a man robed in black, his face hooded.

"Who are you?" I ask, not reaching for any weapon, knowing, deep inside, that they wouldn't work on either man.

"DEATH, OF COURSE," the black robed man states. I nod.

"Of course," I concede. "And him?"

"SHADOW BLACKE,"

"What do you want of me, Death? Has my time come so soon?"

"NO,"

I look up at Shiir before letting my eyes fall to Death once more. He can wait forever, I'm told, and so I humble my pride and speak to him once more.

"Tell me,"

"WE MUST WAIT, SHARLA, FOR THE OTHER TO COME FOR THEN THE COMPANIONS WILL ALL BE HERE AND THE JOURNEY CAN BEGIN. I HAVE NEED OF YOU TO HELP ME ACHIEVE SOMETHING WONDERFUL."

"A journey with Death..." I muse softly.

"YES,"

"So, I must wait, then, for this third companion?" I ask. Death does not reply. Looking over my shoulder, I see a man stumbling up the path toward us. Human, I realize, but his stagger is odd.

"Wounded?" I ask though I expect no answer.

"DRUNK." Death replies and I can hear laughter in his voice.
