Why is she doing it?

As heiress to the Hyuuga clan, Hinata needs to be incredibly strong in order to lead the clan

Hinata decides that she will never again need anyone to protect her, and thus sets out to get the strength she needs

After Naruto is injured durring a mission, Hinata dedicates herself to gaining the strength in order to protect him

Hinata learns that Naruto has a thing for strong girls
