Ludia waltzed into the Dexubee County Jail as if she owned the place. She swung her arms, and her hands brushed her silky pink dress. The sound of the heels of her Mary Jane shoes clicking on the floor echoed through the hallway.

She walked up to the first door on the left. The gold name plate on the door read 'Sheriff Lucifer Webster'.

She cracked the door open and peaked her head in. "Daddy."

She scanned the room, and it was empty. Ludia walked in and sat in the big leather chair behind the black office desk. She browsed at all of the contents on the table and narrowed her eyes when she observed a black gun belt with brown fringe hanging off of it. She touched the fringed and enjoyed the feeling of the smooth suede between her fingers.

Ludia then surveyed the badge. She picked it up, pinned it to her, and strutted to the mirror.

She placed her hands on her hips and smiled as she stared into it. "I'm Sheriff Ludia Webster. You all do as I say or else." She marched back to the desk.

Ludia traced her fingers over the ivory handles of the revolvers, slowing down when she got to the flame like carvings at the end. She pulled both of the guns out and charged over to the mirror with the guns drawn.

"Make my day, humans. Die! Die! Die!" She waved the revolvers around. "Why would Daddy have these? He can just kill someone with his fireball."

She pranced around the room with the guns in her hands. She turned around with her finger on the trigger of each gun. She aimed it at each mirror. Ludia pulled the triggers. The bullets hit the mirror. It shattered everywhere. She covered her face and dropped the revolvers. Ludia heard the clicking of high heels. She turned her head.

"Ludia Mabon Webster! What have you done?" A woman with auburn hair stood with her hand on her hip and rapidly tapping her foot.

Tears welled up in Ludia's eyes. "I'm sorry, Mommy. I was just playing."

"Look at the gianourmous kitty cat, Daddy!" Ludia jumped and pointed over at the big, knotted pine tree. She began to run over to the magnificent, tan animal with a fluffy mane around its head. "Here, kitty kitty."

Her dad, Lucifer, grabbed her around the waist. "Woa, Baby Girl! That's not a cat. It's a lion. It'll eat you alive!"

"But I wanna pet it. Now!" She flung her arms around and kicked his knees at a rapid pace.

"No, Ludia. I'm not tellin' you again." He put her down and crept closer to it. "I'm gonna see if it can git it to go back through the fog." Lucifer gestured over to the gray mist to the right.

"Daaaaadddddyyyyyy pleeeeeeaseee let me pet it." She poked her lip out and hung her head.

He laughed and shook his head. "Come here, don't tell your Mother. Take my hand, but stay behind me." Lucifer held out his hand.

Ludia's red eyes brightened as she grabbed his hand. They crept closer to the lion. It turn its head and stared at them. The beast stood and stretched. It began to walk. Lucifer stopped dead in his tracks, and Ludia get go of his hand. She ran to the lion.

"Here, lion lion."

"Ludia, no!"

She put her hand out in front of the lion. It opened it's mouth. She glanced behind her, and Lucifer formed a fireball from his palm.

The lion licked her hand.

"Awww, you're so sweet." She pet it on the head. "Daddy, can I keep it? I'll take really good care of it. I promise, cross my heart." She made an x over her chest with her finger.

"How can I say no to my little princess. Let's see if we can get him to go home with us."

"It's not a boy. It's a girl, and I'm gonna name her Savanna."

Lucifer laughed and smiled. "If that don't beat all, a boy named Savanna."

Ludia held her mother's hand as they skipped into the woods. Her mother, Cydia, had a red picnic basket in her other hand. A gentle breeze blew through Ludia's black hair when they reach the end of the gravel road that led to the circle of tall oak trees.

"I want to go over there, Mommy." Ludia pointed to the trees and ran ahead.

"Okay, Sweetie." Cydia smiled and followed behind her.

"Tell me about the day you first came here and met Daddy."

"Haven't you heard that one enough?" Cydia laughed and shook her head.

"No, especially not from you. I love the way you tell it, Mommy."

"Let's unpack this basket, then I'll tell you."

Ludia helped her mother spread out a blue sheet. They both sat down.

"Tell the story, now!"

"Eleven years before your oldest brother Lucifer Junior was born, I lived in a place called the Faerie Realm. Anyway, there was a tree in the back courtyard."

"What's a courtyard?"

"A fancy word for yard."

Ludia opened the basket ,pulled out a small paper, and peered into it. "Sugar human skins, yummy! Now go on please." She took a crispy skin out and began to munch.

"My younger sister Mabon told me that the tree led to Earth, so I thought I would see if she was right. Well, I opened the door that was carved into the tree, and a warp sucked me in. I thought I was going to fall forever until I rolled out of that tree over there." Cydia gestured to the tree to the left.

"Didn't come over to this swing and start swinging on it?"

"Yes, I did. Your Daddy had built the swing."

"Yeah, for those bratty children of that old bat, Marion."

"Be sweet, Ludia, or I won't finish the story."

Ludia laid down on the blanket, staring up at the clouds.

"I was swinging on that swing when your Daddy walked up. I thought I was in trouble at first, but he was so sweet to me."

"Daddy kissed ya, didn't he?" Ludia sat up and giggled.

"Eat your lunch before it gets cold, you silly goose." Cydia hugged her.

Ludia Webster and her three best friends, Maddie Hart, Kathy March, and Jackie Grayson, ran into the rundown mausoleum. They were each carrying a black duffle bag.

Ludia threw her bag down. "Get everything ready for the ritual while I make sure no one is around."

"Don't be too long because this one takes a long time." Maddie opened her bag and laid out a cloth with a pentagram on it.

"I know; I'll be back by the time y'all have everything set up." Ludia opened the second gate.

Who lit these torches? Someone's got to be here. She crept down the narrow hallway.

What's that noise I'm hearing? Sounds like sometihng I've heard coming from my parent's bedroom.

Ludia followed the noise around the corner to a room where the door was opened. She peaked into the dimly lit room. Her feet froze to the floor.

"AHHHHHHHHHHH!" Her mouth fell open, and then she ran.

She reached the front of the mausoleum where her friends were. They glanced up at her.

"We've got to pack up all this s*** because I just saw a one-eyed snake attacking the hell out of a spider web!"
