"Prompt: Isaiah 53:5 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. 1 Peter 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. What do you think about these two verses? Do you think this is pertaining to spiritual or physical healing or both?" A lot of people believe it refers to physical healing but I believe it refers to spiritual healing. Humans are finite creatures. We aren't meant to live forever in these bodies. A lot of people pray for healing, then when it does not come they lose faith in God. They misquote this passage as the reason for their lack of faith. "God promised me healing and then did not deliver." This passage promises healing spiritually. "Prompt: I was cruising the galaxy with Guardians Of The Galaxy and found this planet: Read this item:

I screwed up last night. Now that I've had some time to calm down I know that. My cellphone died in mid-conversation. It powered off not to restart. I contacted my provider by chat over the Internet. They offered to ship me a new one. I asked them to ship it to my P.O. Box so I could have it. They can't do that and I went off on them. I told them I would use my blog to malign them for not doing what I wanted. I was upset and let me run the show instead of God. I made a fool of myself. To be honest Xfinity has been the best cable provider I have ever had and I am sure they will be just as good as a mobile carrier. I just got a defective phone, which they are replacing. All is well that ends well, even if I have to go without a phone for 24 hours. "Prompt: 3 John 1:2 "Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth." Do you believe our physical health could be a picture of our soul’s health? Why or why not? What are your thoughts about this verse?" I believe the soul and the body are intricately connected. I tell people all the time that humans reflect the Godhead in that we too are made up of three parts. Just as God is Father, Son, and Spirit, so humans are mind, body and soul. Prompt: "I was having phone problems last night and went off the deep end a little. It's all well now. On the way back from the asylum, I saw a star writing sestinas and other poetry.
I have heard of rondel poetry and elegy poetry, but have never combined the two. This appears beutifully written with a message we can all relate to. |
"Prompt Isaiah 38:16-17 16 O Lord, by these things men live, and in all these things is the life of my spirit: so wilt thou recover me, and make me to live. 17 Behold, for peace I had great bitterness: but thou hast in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption: for thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back. What does this say to you?" I believe what Isaiah is saying here is the same thing that Peter says in his writing and James says in his. That is that God allows us to suffer because He knows that humans grow when we're in pain. It just occurred to me today that I did not send out the prompt last night. Can the captain be derelict? I guess so! I got good news today. My cancer is in remission and my glaucoma is under control. So I dodged two bullets. God be praised. On the way back from Medical I looked out the port and saw a shining star. (445) writes about faith in
I do pray for Vivian. She is a sweet lady. Let's all get behind her prayerfully. The enemy hates crowds of Christians. Vivian is right in this poem. It is all about being faithful and trusting God in all situations. |
Prompt: James 5:13-16 13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms. 14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: 15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. 16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. I feel the Lord prompting me to focus on healing for a bit. Over the next few days this is what I intend to base the prompts on. What are your thoughts about healing? There are some doctrines that teach healing is a “sign” gift. It was used by the Holy Spirit to validate the disciples and apostles. They believe in praying for health and healing, but don't believe in praying for instant healing. Others believe in holding healing services and healing ministries. I have heard several different views on the subject. Let's discuss it and see what the Bible has to say about it. Also, what are your thoughts on this passage? I believe it can go both ways and there are scriptures to support that. Paul, for instance, prayed to be healed of his "thorn in the flesh" and God told him no. God's grace will get us through most situations. Then there are some where God instantly heals. It can go either way and is totally up to God. Write about this poem in your Blog entry today." This poem makes me sad. It reminds me of my lost relationship with my family of origin. My parents are both deceased and the rest of my family ignores me. I live about three hours away so I guess I don't blame them. I also was a drug addict for years and I think they think I still am since they are never around me. I am a responsible, productive part of society today. In fact, I am starting a halfway house for veterans. My business associate says we are ready to start seeking grants. Do you know how to study the Bible? If you do, what is your favorite Bible study method? Why? What makes studying the Bible easier for you? What makes it harder? How many ways do you know of to study the Bible? What are they? How often do you do it? Do you think it is important to do it regularly? Write about studying the Bible today. Above I have asked some questions about Bible study. I would love to hear your answers. Or tell me your own thoughts on the subject. I think it it is of utmost importance to study the Bible. God once said through the prophet Hosea that His people died due to ignorance of God's word. It is very important that we study God's word so that we are not ignorant. The Bible study I use is called historical context hermeneutics. I try to study the Bible to see exactly what message the original writer was trying to convey to his audience. What was going on historically then? What was the cultural message? What conflicts or problems did the writer want to address? The second method I use is also a type of historical hermeneutic. I ask myself what message the original listeners would have heard? All too often we approach passages like Matthew 24 thinking Jesus is discussing one thing when He is actually discussing another. Most people do not read Koine Greek which is the language Matthew was written in. So they do not realize that there are Greek hints that indicate it was not the end of the world Jesus was discussing but rather the fall of Jerusalem in 70AD. Many of the themes fit today and I have a brother in my congregation who literally has a conniption fit if I suggest anything by end times with Matthew 24. He has never read the original Greek nor studied it. Image #2235152 over display limit. -?- Prompt: I was cruising the galaxy with Chewbecca and found this planet: (160) Read this item:
Write about this item in your Blog entry today. I love senryu poetry when it is written correctly. It is supposed to take a shot at life in a humorous way such as this one does. Senryu sees the irony of having a cat but no friends.
