‘Idal (Justice), 1 Masa’il (Questions) 175 B.E. - Wednesday, December 12, 2018 Feast of Questions On the Feast Day of Questions I contemplate the beauty Of mid December The "Blogging Circle of Friends " prompt for DAY 2215 My favorite holiday scents are cedar, ginger, molasses, and cinnamon. What are yours? Do they bring back childhood memories, if so what are they? Aromas of Childhood Bayberry candles Their tapered beauty burned bright Every Christmas Eve The perfume of bayberry candles create part of my childhood memories. I know that my grandmother and, at least, one of her sisters and/or sisters-in-law burned bayberry candles on Christmas Eve. As a child, I thought that was the only time of year you could purchase those wonderful scented candles. After I grew up, I found that they can be purchased all year long. After I discovered one could buy them all year long, I began to wonder why Grandma lit them only on Christmas Eve and sometimes on New Year's Eve. I discovered one, possible, reason on Real Bayberry Candle and Bayberry Legend . Apparently lighting a bayberry candle on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve is supposed to bring good luck. Since, I know that Grandma was superstitious, she lit the candle to bring good luck and to make the house smell nice for visitors who might come calling on those day. At that time, it was common for friends and family to drop in unannounced on certain holidays. I guess, because I never asked her, she wanted her already clean smelling house to smell better and more festive on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. The "Blog City ~ Every Blogger's Paradise" prompt for Day 1822 What things are you sensitive about? My Sensitivities My sensitivities have changed as I have matured. I'm not as easily offended by other people's lack of respect or consideration. Most of my present, and every changing, sensitivities are my own business, simply because I've found it does very little good to let other people know. Most people wouldn't understand without me going into details that most people would prefer not to know because of their own sensitivities. My main sensitivity, at present, concerns the way people treat each other. I am offended, when lack of respect is shown to others because they are of a different religion, nationality, color, opinion, etc. We are all human beings and deserve to be treated with kindness and respect. There is only one God, who created all human beings and revealed all religions. We are one species, the Creator is known by many names, and the foundation of all religions is one. |
Fiḍál (Grace), 19 Qawl (Speech) 175 B.E. - Tuesday, December 11, 2018 "O Friend! In the garden of thy heart plant naught but the rose of love, and from the nightingale of affection and desire loosen not thy hold. Treasure the companionship of the righteous and eschew all fellowship with the ungodly." Baha'u'llah3 The "Blogging Circle of Friends " prompt for DAY 2214: December 11, 2018 Faith, hope, joy, and love, write something about each of these in you blog entry today. The Heart's Garden Within the walls of self a garden grows Planted with seeds we harvest from life's blows, If we don't chose carefully the seeds, In our heart's garden fear and hatred glows. If we carefully chose the seeds, We will grow flowers and fruits instead of weeds, When we plant the seeds of faith, love, joy, and hope, Our garden will grow exquisite deeds. The "Blog City ~ Every Blogger's Paradise" prompt for DAY 1821 “Execution is something, but timing is everything.” Todd Stocker What does “timing” mean to you? What happens when your timing is off? Timing Timing is a wonderful quality; however, in real life it isn't necessary under normal conditions. It could be necessary when one has an important appointment or under abnormal conditions. Those two circumstances are the only times timing is absolutely necessary. Otherwise its a crap shoot, with four possible outcome: (1) the right place at the wrong time, (2) the wrong place at the right time, (3) the wrong place at the wrong time, and (4) the right place at the right time. The last outcome is a very rare occurrence, and proof that God, the universe, or fate (you chose which one) has a sense of humor. Footnotes |
Kamal (Perfection), 18 Qawl (Speech) 175 B.E. - Monday, December 10, 2018 The "Blogging Circle of Friends " prompt for DAY 2213 December 10 is Human Rights Day. The United Nations General Assembly created this day on December 10, 1948 to prompt Human Rights around the world. Use this day to inspire your blog entry. Seventy years ago, the United Nation released "The Universal Declaration of Human Rights", which emphasized that everyone on Earth has the right to dignity and equality. In the intervening years many governments across the planet (even those who are members of the United Nations) has ignored this declaration, either to their own citizens or to immigrants seeking asylum and a new home. There are probably several reasons for this; however, (in my opinion) the main reasons are lack of maturity and holding to old, and outdated, ways of thinking. "All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood." Since World War II, and the Nazi genocide, human rights have become a concern to the entire human race and every nation on the planet. We, humanity, cannot focus on the rights of one segment of the human species, as opposed to those of all the others. We are living in a new age, an age in which humanity (as a species) is moving toward justice and unity. This demands new ways of thinking, and a different approach to human rights than those taken in the past. The "Universal Declaration of Human Rights" proclaims the approach to human right that must be taken as humanity matures. Footnotes |
Jamal (Beaury), 17 Qawl (Speech) 175 B.E. - Sunday, December 9, 2018 I was offline for almost a week. I've been back online for about a week, and, in that week, I review only one item. I have to get back into the swing of reviewing and writing, while transferring poems to "Devotional Poetry" and "Poem Experiments" . This morning I set my goals for the coming week in "Weekly Goals for 2024" . I'm not sure how much of it I will accomplish, I know I will accomplish some of it. I have to change my address to several places, which I will do either online or over the landline. My smartphone died a few days ago, and I'm waiting for a replacement to arrive. Jalal (Glory), 16 Qawl (Speech) 175 B.E. - Saturday, December 8, 2018 Rejoice for today is the Day of the Lord. The "Blog City ~ Every Blogger's Paradise" prompt for DAY 1818 Creation Saturday, let your inspiration sweep you away, have fun free writing. Each day is the Lord's day when you wake up and say: Thank you for another day. The "Blogging Circle of Friends " prompt for DAY 2211 Word Prompt:bucket, juggle, clammy, heaven, tease, delirious, rose, arrange. Use these words in your blog entry. Have fun. The clammy echoes of a promised storm descends on the sweltering city. Soon the blue heaven will open and pour buckets of water onto thirsty rose gardens. "Is this the end of the drought?" Delirious gardeners ask, as they juggle arms full of fresh cut flowers. They arrange the flowers into bouquets that tease both the passion and imagination of lovers. |
Istiqlal (Independence), 15 Qawl (Speech) 175 B.E. - Friday, December 7, 2018 Love melts The icy breast Of winter Liberating The heart's Broken winged bird The "Blog City ~ Every Blogger's Paradise" prompt for DAY 1817 Write a story or poem using this quote from Dylan as inspiration. Have fun! “The crisp path through the field in this December snow, in the deep dark, where we trod the buried grass like ghosts on dry toast.” ― Dylan Thomas, Quite Early One Morning: Stories December Snow Waling through the snow on a cold December night, while listening to the crunch of her footsteps. A Snow Angel contemplate the beauty of the stars, sparkling like candles on a Christmas tree. She inhales the frigid breath of winter, and laughs. Life is good. Winter is a cold, but pleasant time of year. She remembers the snows of early spring or of late autumn are different from December snow. To her, December Snow seems fresher, purer, and more resilient. December snow reflects the light of winter stars in scintillating joy. |
Istiqlal (Independence), 15 Qawl (Speech) 175 B.E. - Friday, December 7, 2018 Random words ignite Imaginations' fuse Poems explode Into multicolored shower of light. The "Blogging Circle of Friends " prompt for DAY 2210 Discuss this quote in your blog entry.....“December's wintery breath is already clouding the pond, frosting the pane, obscuring summer's memory...” ― John Geddes, A Familiar Rain Summer's Memory Nothing can obscure summer's memory, it is always there. Sometimes, like the brown grass of fall, it hides beneath a blanket of snow. It hides waiting for scent, sound, taste, touch, or sight to awaken it, like the warm sun of spring awakens the green grass. Summer memories are either blessing or curses depending on the emotions associated with them. Summer memories can take us back to our childhood, and bring either laughter or tears. Evening Drive in Summer A sphere of crystal radiance, Sol dances Across my field of vision. His bright globe sways, From left to right; From right to left, As my car consumes black asphalt. Summer memories return in poems discovered written years ago and forgotten until the manuscript is discovered again. I wrote the above poem several years ago, when I was working at the Henderson Campus of the Community College of Southern Nevada. I rediscovered it while going through some items I moved with me. I had planned to put it in "Poem Experiments" , but this prompt brought back fond memories of driving back and forth to Henderson. |
Istijlal (Majesty), 14 Qawl (Speech) 175 B.E. - Thursday, December 6, 2018 The Affect of the Manifestation of God Upon the Human Soul A mirror reflects the sun downward through a dark tunnel to illumine another mirror in the Earth's heart. I wrote this in 145 B.E. The inspiration was a story about one of the telescopes watching the night sky. I realized, as I watched the documentary, that was the way Christ, Baha'u'llah, The Bab, Muhammad, and the other Manifestations, or Mirrors, of the Almighty impacted the souls of human beings, especially those who accepted their instructions and teachings. Christmas is coming and, across the world, many people will be commemorating the birth of Christ or celebrating Christmas. I distinguish between the commemoration of the Birth of His Holiness Christ and the celebration of Christmas, because I suspect (this is my personal opinion) that the two have become separate festivals in the last two thousand years or so. |
Idal (Justice), 13 Qawl (Speech) 175 B.E. - Wednesday, December 5, 2018 Red roses in a crystal vase echo The music of love. I'm Back! I'm Back! It's a cold autumn afternoon here in Las Vegas. It's been five days since I made a blog entry, and, I think, my fingers forgot how to type. The problem could just as easily be the cold, so I need to warm my fingers ups by typing. Therefore, this entry will be poem I wrote, several years ago. I'm going through transcripts of old poems and transferring them to my poetry journals here on writing.com. Evening in The Cactus Garden Evening's breeze blows through Regent Schola Trees scenting the Henderson air. As the sun sets behind Mount Charleston spring's cool breeze sing lullabies to Torch Cactus, California Gold, Trailing Lantana, and Joshua Trees. I wrote this poem on 4 Jamal 161 B.E. The inspiration was a visit, Mom and I took, to a cactus in located in Henderson. |
