Review of Conquered
Review by ♥SoNNetWo...
Rated: E | (5.0)
A very moving poem on loss and hurt. Haven't we all suffered a broken heart at one time or another? I know this must have been hard to write, for you probably relived bad memories of when you were brokenhearted.

CherokeePixie, I haven't been by your port in a while and I thought I would visit. You may not even remember me. Susan, SonnetWolf? Anyway, it is nice to visit your port again. I just so happened upon this sad poem and I wanted to tell you that sadness makes us stronger in the end.

Beautiful SWPoet. I haven't been by your port in a while so I thought I would stop by. Remember me? My husband is a Master Degree Social Worker studying for his LCSW? This is a beautiful, heart-tugging poem that I enjoyed reading, as its nostalgia touched me deeply.

Keep up the good work. I have missed talking to you.

It was so very touching, so very moving, your words of pristine imagery capture nature at its early morning dew best, when the quiet is upon our ears, and only the song of the forest and her inhabitants rides the wind, tugging at the memories we hold within, all the joy, the sadness, the blessings of gifts from life itself. It is then we begin to appreciate all that we have, and all that we have lost.

Amen, Sherri. Your thought-provoking, Soul-wrenching song forever rides the Seminole winds as a constant reminder that these people were a strong and proud race and I love them with all my broken heart.

I've always loved Native American Indians; ever since a child, I empathized with their cause, and knew that in reality, the history books should be rewritten. How the West Was Won should be retitled, How the West Was Stolen. We say we discovered America, but the Native Indians were already there and had been centuries before we set forth on American soil, and yet claimed it as "our own discovery" and moved in on their prided territory, and tried to erase their cultire from the face of the earth.

So I have wept so long for the blood and tears spilled; for a culture that will never be the same, caged in our world that couldn't co-exist with them. That sadness is forever a black hole in my spirit, and though born caucasian (blonde hair, blue eyes) I am not proud of what my race has done.

Thank you for this Poem as I feel the same way, Sherri. I am on their side. Not ours.

Autumn, this is beautiful, but of course sad. Haven't we all been betrayed at some point in our lives. You are as talented as your mother, guess you inherited her poetic genes, and yet you have your own individual flair and talent that stands on its own.

Good luck my dear.

Such pristine enlightenment from your words. As you tell a story, I feel like I am there, watching winter unfold; watching the air swirl with frostiness; watching you shovel the snow out of the way with carefree abandon. There is solitude in the world at these quiet moments, when we are alone with nature. I love nature. You reminded me why.

Absolutely stunning work. I like how you tell a story of something that is really happening, and yet it has a soft, poetic quality about the tone. It is very moving, touching in a nostalgic sense. I loved many lines, my favorite was

The white circle, to stab
The thin paper heart-
A clean crime,
No blood,
Only a small neat hole.

and You hold your breath, listening
For the dull thud that means you've hit
The soft center, the vulnerable heart,
Murdered willfully once more.

There was tension, as though I were in the audience, watching you. Your words were so powerful, I felt like I was beside you.

Beautiful job!

I totally identify with this Kiya because I have come from a past history of abuse; it started with my foster family, and didn't stop there. It continued for ten years with my first husband, a very abusive, volatile creature who didn't love me as much as he tried thinking I was his "possession." Again, I'm too late, sadly, to award this Poem. All your Poems have ribbons, and I understand why. I discovered your Port today from the wrting aspect. I've always been drawn to you because we are graphic artists, but I realize your talents are versatile and now i'm thinking, where I have been? Well, the old cliche "better late than never" could apply here. You write as well as you create beautiful things. You talents are unending.

Wow Kiya, you are just so totally amazing. LOL, I'm sorry, I discovered your writing talents for the first time today. I come to your port for inspiration as a Graphic's Artist, and now I have found a new inspiration ~ your gifted words. You see into things; you caputre moments distilled in time that others never caught, blindsided. You have a raw energy about you that is drawing to the reader from beginning to end. You have blessed with many talents and I'm thrilled to have crossed paths with such a talented Soul. I hope the goodness wears off on me, LOL, perhaps I could catch a few rays, hehehehee.

Love ya Kiya. I will be back for more. I can see why the majority of your writing has Ribbons. They are awesome from what I have experienced thus far. Wow, you never cease to amaze.

Kiya ~

I think this is the first time I ever read one of your Poems. Like others, when I come to your Port, I'm so entranced by your graphic talents that I tend to overlook your writing skill, which is totally amazing. I know I shall return to see you create art with words. You are truly magical in everything you touch. I love you to pieces!

Dearest Whome ~

This is a beautiful poem, so full of meaning and heartfelt emotion. It is not uncommon, like what I am doing now, going through a mourning process, I will come out on the other end as a different person because a part of me has died during my period of grief, and what is left is the "old" Susan. The newer Susan has yet to prove herself as she comes forth into this strange world. For all she has left behind is just that ~ behind her, still inside her, with the memories that will never die of all she has lost. I take it a step at a time, like a new baby. I am not the same. For what I am going through now, this poem has touched me, reminded me that most things were not meant to stay the same. I have come to the conclusion that the only thing in the Universe that is constant, is: Change.

I'm sorry you had to go through this, but you know, we live, love, and learn. I think you are very mature and handled it the way you should in order to move on quicker, safer, for your heart.

Keep Writing!

Fantastic lines. I am a good friend of your mother, StacyLynn. I thought I'd come check out her daughter. I guess you inherited those "talent genes." This was great. YOU are a poet in your own write and you write with raw emotion. Straight from the heart type of writing, which is what I love because that's how I write.

Glad I stopped by.

Excellent ~ You are, after all, the Mistress of the Dark. These are excellent lines, all forming the context to bring your Sonnet to Life! Or Death, I should say, LOL! There are no dark words you cannot weave; no light to kill you don't have up your sleeve, hehehee, just making a joke here, but all joking aside, you are multi-talented and GOOD LUCK IN THE CONTEST TOO, DEARIE!

These are all so cute. Gives us something to laugh at while the wrinkles settle into place behind the crowsfeet. And the stiffness walking up and down the steps; and oh yea, the shortness of breath while vacuuming. Isn't getting old a blast? A blast for who?

Anyway, Kaya, you put a comic spin on the ole age process. We can't reverse it, so, we midas well enjoy the ride in forward gear, along with the pit stops and the flat tires, LOL!

Thanks. Next time I look in the mirror, I wil convince myself I don't look as old as I feel. Now, to convince everyone else . . . .

Why would anyone rate this a three? That's rediculous.

Well, obviously, they don't love horses like WE do. Hi, my name is SonnetWolf. Real name is Susan. I have an entire Folder on Animal Poems I invite you to visit. My own seven horses (I'm a breeder of Registered Tennessee Walking Horses) have been my greatest teachers, my fondest inspirations, and I'm sure you will find, amongst my horse poems, other poems to fall in love with, like dog and cat poems, etc.

Anyway, it's nice to meet you, and I look forward to more "horsey" episodes in your Port. We have that in common, and I never met a horse person I didn't love.

I worked behind the scenes. Someone needs to write a poem about the horses that are drugged, and shot if they didn't win.

Reality can be a terrible thing.

Review of Under the Bed
Review by ♥SoNNetWo...

I have felt this and I know the fear. I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm an adult, and I'm still reluctant at night to look under the bed. And, sometimes when I'm alone and my husband is working late, I hear the stairs creaking. I hear noises, the whole house seems to come to life.

I fear the night, as much as my tired body welcomes it.

Great Poem.

I invite you to my port.
