Think of the poem you are writing as a photograph that you are creating
Wow. I have to start look at it like that. This was so informative. All of this I will take into my own practice and I have saved it for future reference.
This was written and spoken by the right person, I know that much.
I learned so much. I hope it reflects in my writing. I can only hope. I know Rome wasn't built in a day.
It floated like a song on the wind. So beautiful. I read this inside my Soul; I read this outside my Soul, and I understand the meaning of what you said, painting a picture with your words, not writing about the picture itself, but that you brought your Readers into Loss itself, and Nature, and how it responded, as well.
This poem was your example to "Think of the poem you are writing as a photograph that you are creating" and you are so right. You didn't tell us how you were feeling there, you made us feel it along with you in your imagery that drew us in, to feel the fire, to know it was bitter cold outside. I understand the picture analogy.
I love your insight, Mike. I too gaze "up there" and I often feel I don't belong "down here." I took have a few chose people around me who have been great influences in my life. I can count my true friends on one hand. The others claim to be friends, when times are tough, they disappear. You know how that goes.
You are perfect. I have found the Perfect Poet. I sit humbly in the grass, over there, a nothing little writer, for thats how I feel in the Presence of you.
I feel like I never wrote a poem in my life.
This, my friends, is poetry at its finest.
Susan
ps. I'm either jealous or in admiration, can't figure which. Admiration, of course, I'm just kidding
This Author is Fantastico!!! Oooooooooooooh Eliot you have my heart, lOL.
Seriously, I love your style and have saved you to my Favorites. I want to learn to write like this. I love it. I've been writing since the age of nine and I've always wanted to loose myself in wordplay, as you do. Oh teach me, Master, teach me the gift!
Yep. You are fast becoming a Favorite Author here. Your style mimics my own, I guess that is why I am drawn to you, but you're talent far exceeds me and I must read more of you, in order to aspire to such talents.
I like the frank, off the cuff way of choosing your wordplay, a style I've tried to adapt and I somewhat succeed, but you are the Master. And I am your apprentice.
I knew it after my first read of one of your Poems, "Votive," that I was going to admire your style. Yep. Add another to My Favorites. There ya go. In my folder. Doesn't mean a lot to you, perhaps, but to me, it means when I need to draw from inspiration, I know where to find it.
Very different. I liked it very much. I want to read more of your works and I'm on my way. I hope they're like this too, very Soul-thought provoking works that make the Reader think and feel. I like that when a writer gets me involved in the poem.
Extraordinary and unique lines, that really are thought-provoking and make your Readers "think" and actually "feel" the lines, as well. Very educated, insightful words and I would love to know where you draw your inspirations from.
Thought this was a short piece, however, it was very long on impact . . . I like that. Much talent jumped from these words into my head and i'm still trying to visualize your imagery.
I love my animals too so I know this poem was written from the heart. I hope your friend is still with you. I've lost quite a few over the years, but I have new friends. Never to forget the old ones, but my heart is renewed until we all meet again.
You are something else. Is there anything you Can't write about, I ask myself? I bet you could write about the yellow pages and it would come out singing and shining.
And this one? ~ ~ Elvis is laughing all the way to the spritiual bank.
Beautiful, 7up. Loved the lines and one of the best descriptive poems of the Ocean I think I have read. I felt the ebb and flow in your words. Each stanza was its own deepness.
Very well done and an enjoyable read which I would recommend for anyone who loves the Ocean and the call of the deep.
