I absolutely loved this story!! Your writing is so smooth and descriptive that I felt like I was watching a movie. Very well written. Heck, I'm sixty-six and I still ask those questions from time to time. The great thing about living in the present is that you won't have time to think about past mistakes or worry about future mistakes. As long as you learn from them, and don't repeat them, you don't need to think about them anymore.
Like you, I've stopped caring so much about what others think of me and it has made me much happier now.
It's appalling that so many people enjoy hurting animals or watching videos of people hurting animals. The only videos I watch that have hurt animals in them are the ones where the animal is being rescued and given to a new loving person or family were they they will be loved and cherished for the rest of their lives.
It really is unfair. To look forward to relaxing and enjoying the memories just to have them ripped away. If this is a true story, my heart breaks for you. This is very well written.

I really enjoyed reading this. I live in Salt Lake City, UT and we were in a drought for a couple of years. So I was very much like the characters in your poem, praying for rain. Thankfully we received record snow fall from December 2022 to March 2023. Plus the last two weeks of May it has rained almost everyday. I even got to enjoy a few really strong thunderstorms. I love thunderstorms. Anyway, I'm looking forward to reading more of your work.
