Poetry written about one of my biggest challenges.
The antonym for faith is fear.
A familiar feeling that some hold dear.
Afraid of the future and what it holds,
Haunted by the past that hasn't been told.

We hold it close and nurture it's life,
Even though it creates internal strife.
We feed, encourage and make it our friend.
Afraid we'd be lost if it came to an end.

Wondering what creatures we would be,
If released from it's hold, we're set free.
Our days are so full of worry and fright,
Even awakened far into the night.

And all the time deep down inside,
We try so valiantly to hide.
The paralysis and pain that it brings,
Affecting and jading everything.

Faith is the key to unlock the door,
And set our souls free, fly high and soar,
Above all the worries and fears of tomorrow,
Above our past, painful wounds, and sorrows.

If we believe that we're truly loved,
By a merciful Father above.
Held safely in the palm of His hand
Fear can be banished by His command.

Faith can then replace the fear,
And we can begin to hold it dear.
Feed, encourage and make it our friend
Not having to be concerned for it's end.

The pain will be gone, the paralysis cured.
Victory will come to all who endured.
Our sleep will be so precious and deep,
Resting in the assurance He'll keep,

His Word to everyone who believes
And opens their heart to gladly receive.
