A poem about secret devotion.
I look at your sleeping face.
Eyes shut, remains of your waking smile still linger.
Rising gently with every breath
The light of the clock reflects on your face
Giving you an unearthly glow
My hand closes around yours.
Its warmth fills me with a sensation of happiness
I haven't felt in a long time.
You try and hide a smile,
but I can see right through you.
Your eyes slowly open and you show a smirk.
There is nothing here but us, now.
I pull you closer to me.
Holding you near me only makes me grow weaker.
I can feel your heart beat match mine.
The smell of your hair fills my head.
It's angelic softness caresses me.
I squeeze you tighter.
You look up at me.
Your brown eyes pierce me and I freeze.
Their powerful gaze catches me in my chest.
This feeling is said to only happen once.
But, I hope it lasts forever.
