CHAPTER 1

“Uh hello my name is December Morgans and I am from, uh, Idaho and I’m sixteen years old.” The male teacher slowly nodded and smiled at her reveling a full set of pointed teeth. December stared wide eyed for a moment in surprise but quickly smiled back at him. Whatever he was, he seemed nice so she didn’t want to be rude.

“Alright December, how about you sit next to Brebella over there?” He pointed to an empty seat next to a girl with electric blue hair and bright green eyes. In fact quite a few of the kids in the classroom had bright hair in different colors.

She worked her way through the chairs and desks until she reached the empty next to the girl. She sat down and looked at her hands on the desk in front of her. She felt so….out there. The teacher clapped his hands once and looked around. “Okay then, for the last thirty minutes everyone can just talk to each other.” Then he went back to his desk as December stared at him. Just talk? But aren’t we supposed to work? A light tap on her shoulder drew her away from her thoughts. She looked over and saw the blue haired girl had pulled her chair up next to her desk. The girl smiled at her and December was a little relieved to see that her teeth looked normal.

“So you’re December huh?” The girl flipped her hair over her shoulder and bit her lower lip, “I like your hair.”

“I like yours too Brebella.” December smiled lightly at the girl who nodded at her still smiling.

“I have never seen such a color before. It kind of looks as if it gets any lighter it will be white! And then it has those wavy spots that make me think of an Ashlee Simpson hairstyle but a lot lighter and it looks a whole lot better.” She leaned back in the plastic chair so that it leaned back against the back wall.

“Thanks I guess.” December looked back at her hands but ended up looking back up again when Brebella’s chair hit the floor with a thud as she leaned forward towards her.

“I’m sorry but I gotta ask. What are you?” She was whispering now so December had to lean in a bit to hear her.

“What?” she burrowed her eyebrows together as Brebella rolled her eyes in annoyance.

“You freshies are all the same.” She muttered before continuing, “For example, I am half fox demon and half wolf demon.” She was completely serious.

“Are you serious?” Brebella smirked and rolled her eyes again.

“I know. It is a little weird that a fox demon and a wolf demon got together but-“

“That’s not what I mean!” December sighed loudly making a few people turn and look at her. Brebella raised an eyebrow.“I believe that I am completely human and not some ‘creature’ or something.” She looked over at Brebella who shook her head with a light smile.

“That isn’t possible because humans aren’t allowed in this school. You got to be something December.” December sighed again.

“Well maybe I am but if so then I don’t know what it is.” She shrugged and crossed her lightly tanned arms.

“Well we can make you cool and say that you’re human but if you really are then you better be careful around here since we have all sorts of things crawling around. Just pick someone out in this classroom and I’ll prove it to ya’.” She smirked and watched December look around the classroom. She looked next to her and realized that the rest of the back row was empty except for a boy about five chairs away from her.  His hair was a deep black and it looked like at had a slight wavy texture to it. It was long enough to brush a little past his eyebrows and his eyes were….silver. Not grey but metallic silver. They were very eye-catching and she couldn’t help but stare.

“What about the guy over there?” She pointed at him and looked back at Brebella who had a smirk on her face.

“I thought you might pick him. That my curious friend, Is Jayrix Milroy and he is half hell hound and a third of the other half is werewolf. I suggest you stay away from him. Ever since his old girlfriend left him, he became a jackass. He used to be a good friend of mine but then he started to be so rude and annoying.” December looked at her in astonishment.

“Why did his girlfriend leave him?” Brebella looked away from her with sadness etched on her face.

“That girl in the front of the classroom with the pink hair killed her.” December gasped and looked at the back of the girls head in the front row. “Her name is Bubble Morey and she is something that lets her control ice and water. She never told anyone what she is so only she knows.” Brebella glared at the back of Bubbles head and shook hers in disgust. “She never was caught or even suspected. Only me and Jayrix were. But I like the fact that neither I nor he are able to control water. What that stupid girl did was pretty much drown Trianna on dry land. When it happened me and Jayrix didn’t know what to do or who was doing it.”

In the front of the room the teacher stood up and looked around. “Since I am the world’s best teacher, I am going to let you all go early to lunch.” December looked up at the clock and it said that they still had like ten minutes left. She looked at Brebella who had stood up was waiting for her. She stood up and with Brebella she walked out the door of the classroom. The boy called Jayrix walked past her and glanced over at her but instead of just walking by he made a disgusted face and then walked past.

“Just ignore him, he does that to everyone.” Brebella said as she came up behind her. She smiled at her and they walked together to the lunchroom. Jayrix was a few feet in front of them and Brebella whispered to her, “Come on, let’s catch up to him.” So they walked faster and when they were about to walk past him, Brebella swung her hand out and it connected with the back of his head with a loud smack. The boy stopped and glared at them as they passed.

“Oh my god! Why did you do that?” December laughed and Brebella smiled.

“Every jerk can use a smack on the head every now and then.” She smirked at December as they entered the lunch room which was huge and quite plain surprisingly. They walked up and stood in line together.

December looked around and saw Jayrix sit at a table by himself and without anything to eat. She looked away quickly as his head turned in her direction. He glared at the side of her face and looked back at his feet under the round table when she turned back to look at him. Brebella laughed next to her making her turn to look at her. “He’s never done that before and it’s as if he is afraid of you seeing him checking you out!” She laughed again as December stood there a little confused. The line moved and she was able to get a tray. She and Brebella filled them up with what they want and went to the table next to Jayrix’s.

“Does he always sit by himself?” December asked as she looked over at him. He stood up as Brebella answered.

“Yes but it’s his own fault since he snaps at anyone who tries to sit next to him. He is sexy and gorgeous but he is a jerk.” At that moment he walked behind December and she felt him, not so gently, bump into her. She smirked and turned around.

“Dude, if you’re trying to flirt with me, bumping into me isn’t gonna get me to like you.” He starred at her as if he didn’t know what she was talking about. Then he smirked.

“Well, if your fat ass wasn’t in my way I might not have bumped into you.” She smiled lightly at him and he looked confused that she hadn’t replied. She looked over at Brebella and sighed.

“I think he likes me.” Brebella nodded and Jayrix snorted as he walked away. Brebella and December laughed at their teamwork. So did Jayrix.
