A midnight meeting with Edgar Allan Poe
Midnight is the time of shadows,
when ghosts descend to Earth
to complete unfinished business
to free their souls from limbo.

So it was
on a midnight wet and dreary
that I met Edgar Allan Poe.

"Good evening, Mr. Poe,"
I said
"What brings you to my dream?"

He frowned
and patted me on the head,
"This is no dream,
my dear,
I have come to ask for your assistance
to help me find my lost Lenore
'Only this, and nothing more.'"

He knelt beside me,
took my hand,
then with a deep and mournful sigh,
"Without my beautiful Lenore,
my soul is doomed to wander
upon the Earth forevermore."
