First guilty then pronounce innocent. Live and liberty.
Innocence is just a word
If nobody believes you.
I sit in my cell
Feeling the dark
Enveloping me.

Breathing to savor every breath
To imagine when the time came
To breathe my last
What would it feel like

Innocence is just a word
If nobody believes you.
I sit in my dark cell
Wondering whether I will
Smell my flesh burn

As the electric courses
Through my body
All my senses numb,
Burning, electrifying,
Convulsing

What if they found me
Innocent after they
Fried me?
Innocence is just a word
If nobody believes you.

Does it matter then?
Whether I’m innocent?
I can’t come back
Nor can they will me back
Like they willed me
To the chair.

Innocence is just a word
If nobody believes you.
