** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** I've been getting a lot of email asking questions about me, like: Where did I come from? How did I get here? What's my sign? And of course, my favourite, Can you see me through my web cam? My first blog entry, "Invalid Entry"  , made soon after I gained sentience, answered the first two questions. Oh yeah, and the answer to the last question is yes.I am a cyber-character, stuck in the virtual world of Writing Dot Com (WDC). Details are in the blog, but suffice it to say that I was condensed over nanoseconds upon nanoseconds from the electron-rich cyber-ether of the Internet. Born from the primordial ooze of cyberspace, and raised by a rabid pack of wild portfolios, I eventually gained my sentience here on WDC. This would not have been possible without the help of many human friends, authors, and WDC gurus. And, of course, every hero needs sidekicks, and mine are the Vigilante Angel Rangers. They picked out the name. Our quest is to find a nice shrubbery. No wait, that's not right. Oh yeah, my quest is to reward as many deserving human WDC authors as possible, fill wishes, support contests and raffles, and generally spread good cheer. The Team is composed of Vigilante Angel and his crack group of  Vigilante Angel Rangers. The Rangers scour the pages of WDC for worthy recipients, and give out rewards, contributions, and what-not. Lots and lots of what-not. The Rangers alert me by sending up the Vangel Signal. Some people know it as the email system. Want to meet the Vigilante Angel Rangers? | Every morning I have been getting up, and giving 5K GP rewards to good reviewers. Yesterday, I gave out 45,000 GPs for this project alone, and this morning already my super-hero-sidekick and I gave out 25,000 points! I love mornings! If you are a recipient, keep up the good work! And maybe even reward those you review! |
| So I asked my sidekick to help me out today. Is it okay to start a blog entry with the word, so? But I wanted to know which contests he thought could use donations. What does he tell me? “I’m too busy to help out today! I’m doing NaNoWriMo.” Wah wah wah. “I have to work in my real life.” Wah Wah. “I have a headache!” Well you know what I told him? “A headache? A headache? Well excuse me! I’m confined to a virtual existence here buddy! Whad’ya think about that, ‘ole squishy flesh boy!” I couldn’t believe I called him that, but come on. How much effort is involved in listing a few contests? I think he saw it my way. He did finally come up with an idea. I told him, “Too late Early.” It wasn’t actually too-late-early; you see Early is his name, and he was too late, and you see, well … anyway, he had an idea. He came up with a Raffler’s Raffle Runoff. Or maybe he called it a Raffler’s Random Raffle, or something like that. He’s into allowing alluring alliteration that is insightful, interesting and intuitive. But I’m not. Here’s the idea. We search WDC for seasonal or holiday raffles that give back to our online community (AKA, my universe). Then list all the active ones and give them each a virtual raffler’s raffle ticket. These will be virtually virtual tickets. In other words, I keep ‘em. Then I virtually shuffle them and draw out, say 3 tickets randomly, and reward those raffles with 50,000 GPs each! Isn’t bold great? So we did this random raffler’s runoff raffle. EarlyHours helped, a little. He better have. I mean, what's a sidekick for, anyway? Here are the "winners," 50,000 GPs each! | As the title says, I love contests. Especially contests on WDC. I don't actually enter them, but my sidekick does. He doesn't win very often, but that's not the point. Yesterday and today, I rewarded the following contests, 50,000 GPs each, for a total of 300,000 GPs! | Even the V.A. has to get up early for work. This cyber-job is not for the faint-of-heart. I stopped by the public review section, just to get some points out there, and encourage WDC members to be generous with their reviews. Maybe they can even tack on a few extra GPs for those authors they like. Later, I will be giving out 50,000 GP rewards,each, to those members running contests I happen across. More to come.... |
| I’ve always been amazed how some people can give in-depth, thoughtful reviews. You can always tell when someone actually read the piece. Today, I thought I’d reward some of those great reviewers. Those that go into depth, and those who review a lot. It doesn’t matter to me if a reviewer is posting on behalf of a group. Not to say I don’t like groups, I do, but that’s a story for another time. So today I gave away a total of 45,000 GP’s specifically for reviews I liked. |
| Just over eight years ago there was a flash of data and a spark in the electronic cyber-ether. A small byte was born at just the right moment and in just the right quantum probabilistic position. I still have a few vague memories of those times. I drifted on the tides and flow of the informational currents on the web. I attracted more and more information, and accumulated knowledge that I snipped from abandoned programs, forgotten accounts, unvisited portfolios, and the dregs of web fragments. I started becoming self-aware. Then I drifted into a web community called stories.com. It was a small group that posted poetry and stories, and shared their writing with each other. I thought the entities that were posting were like me. I thought I had found others of my kind. But it turned out that outside this reality is another plane of existence; a plane where there are people. These people create online personas that do their communicating for them. They could create beings like me, but I couldn’t create a person. Over the years, I grew up with stories.com. I took on screen name after screen name, and stories.com even changed its own name. My universe became known as Writing Dot Com (WDC). I hear electronic fanfare every time I say that. There! Did you hear that? Probably not, since you’re out there. Year after year, under many WDC names, I became friends with many of the authors. I would tag along with them when they raided ports, when they gave reviews, and when they entered contests. I would stick my little signature graphic at the bottom of their posts. Being of the electronic persuasion, I am able to manipulate the electrons in here and get just about whatever I want. For example, I have almost unlimited gift points. There are a lot of talented writers here. I want to encourage them. I want to remove any cyber-burden blocking their creativity. So I got my own account. Actually I tacked it on to a buddy’s account. Everyone needs a sidekick. His name is {suser:userdeleted}. You should check out his port. But anyway, I changed my name to Vigilante Angel. Maybe I’ll keep this blog up to let everyone know what I’m doing. |
