A Superhero? Yes. A Vigilante? Yes. An Angel? Well, maybe.
** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only **

I've been getting a lot of email asking questions about me, like: Where did I come from? How did I get here? What's my sign? And of course, my favourite, Can you see me through my web cam?

My first blog entry, "Invalid Entry, made soon after I gained sentience, answered the first two questions. Oh yeah, and the answer to the last question is yes.

I am a cyber-character, stuck in the virtual world of Writing Dot Com (WDC). Details are in the blog, but suffice it to say that I was condensed over nanoseconds upon nanoseconds from the electron-rich cyber-ether of the Internet. Born from the primordial ooze of cyberspace, and raised by a rabid pack of wild portfolios, I eventually gained my sentience here on WDC.

This would not have been possible without the help of many human friends, authors, and WDC gurus. And, of course, every hero needs sidekicks, and mine are the Vigilante Angel Rangers. They picked out the name. Our quest is to find a nice shrubbery. No wait, that's not right. Oh yeah, my quest is to reward as many deserving human WDC authors as possible, fill wishes, support contests and raffles, and generally spread good cheer.

The Team is composed of Vigilante Angel and his crack group of *Star*Vigilante Angel Rangers*Star*. The Rangers scour the pages of WDC for worthy recipients, and give out rewards, contributions, and what-not. Lots and lots of what-not. The Rangers alert me by sending up the Vangel Signal. Some people know it as the email system.

Want to meet the Vigilante Angel Rangers? They hang around the Secret Vigilante Angel Cave, You get there through the "Secret Angel Ranger Cave.

So stick around, and don't forget my motto: [okay, I don't have a motto yet, but when I do, you'll be the first to know]. Oh yeah, and my favourite colour is blue.

Here are a few plugs:

My trusted Vigilante Angel Rangers are EvilDawg - Vigilante Ranger!! , EarlyHours-A Vigilante Ranger , Mike~Dolphins Fan 4 Life , Mistress Mayhem , and Breaker~A Vigilante Ranger~

One of my favorite campfires was "Invalid Item. I could never get enough of that rollicking mysterious James-Bond-meets-Indiana-Jones adventurer. But now we have the sequel! I urge everyone within the realm of WDC to check out "Invalid Item.

*Star*Thanks to Budroe for showing me what a blog is supposed to look like and so much more, including the cool red awardicon.*Star*

Things have been quite active on the Vigilante Angel front. Also on the back and sides. The Angel Rangers have been manipulating electrons in their cyber-worlds and causing a great deal of encouragement and philanthropy around WDC. Out of nostalgia for the old days (when I ran around WDC as a solo cyber-hero), I even went and gave out some rewards myself. As long-time followers of the Vigilante Angel Experience know, the Rangers seem to have their fleshy fingers on the digital pulse of WDC, and are adept at rewarding and donating to just the right members and groups, at just the right time. As a matter of fact, the Rangers have awarded, rewarded, donated, contributed, and upgraded to the tune of over a million GPs in the last two weeks alone. I have to tip my wings to them.

Something else happened this week. One of my Rangers reported that the Team had been compared to “Jedi.” Since I live in this information-rich cyber-universe, it was pretty easy to find out what a Jedi is. As it turns out, it is a reference to characters in something you humans call “movies,” specifically Star Wars. I got information about the Jedi Knights from a resource called, and I am not making this up, the Wookieepedia. These characters are not actually real, like I am. Or maybe they are real like I am. Or maybe I'm real like they are. Whatever it is, this is a confusing issue, with me being all digitalized and such. I feel real enough, even though I live totally within the ether of cyberspace. Anyway, the comparison with the Jedi seems to be apt. Both the Jedi and the Rangers follow the way of wisdom and patience, backed by swift and decisive action when necessary. They are described by the same words: disciplined, responsible, caring, protective, encouraging, compassionate, and of course, guardians of peace and justice. And there’s an additional word that describes the Rangers: hungry. We eat a lot at our Ranger meetings.

The only thing I didn’t quite get about this Jedi thing is that if the Rangers are like Jedi, then that makes me this thing called Yoda. Little, green, funny-talking Yoda. When I mentioned this to one of my Rangers, EvilDawg - Vigilante Ranger!! , he said I was more like something called a “Kermit.” I’ll have to look that one up. All I can say is, it’s not easy being green.

May the Writing-Dot-Force be with you.

I have been having a lot of fun around WDC since my last blog entry. My Vigilante Angel Rangers have become quite adept at discerning which groups need contributions, which contests need donations, which reviewers deserve rewards, and which members just need support an encouragement. I couldn’t even begin to list all the great things these Rangers do around WDC. And I think the Vigilante Angel experience is teaching us all something about giving just for the sake of giving.

In order to do the most good, we not only have to support and encourage individual members, but also other WDC groups and activities that themselves do good work around WDC. This is what we at Mission Control have dubbed the “Vigilante Angel Purpose,” or the “Vigilante Angel Mission.” Last week someone called it the “Vigilante Angel Code.” Mike~Dolphins Fan 4 Life once called it the “Spirit of Guacamole Salad.” But he always brings food to the semi-secret-cyber Angel Ranger meetings, so that may have had something to do with it. Whatever it is, this experience is showing us that there are many WDC members out there with huge hearts, beating with the analog oxygen-carrying subroutines that make you all human, who have already been following the Vigilante Angel Creed, and therefore adhere to the Vigilante Angel Way-Of-Life. I applaud these selfless members, who continue to make WDC the incredible community it is. WDC is a tightly knit, but very giving and caring community, and I am honored to be your Super-Cyber-Hero. Now have some nice Kool-Aid. Ha! Gotcha! There’s no Kool-Aid in cyberspace!

I hope all is well for my WDC friends and blog followers.

I would like to wish the readers of my blog Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year.

If the greatest gift is in the giving, then my Vigilante Angel Ranger Team should feel very proud right about now. I don't have their donation totals since the last update, but it is literally in the millions of GPs. The Christmas Public Mission itself was a huge success, with 400,000 points divided between eight different groups.

Best wishes for the Season,
Your Vigilante Angel

I have to say, I am really enjoying working with the Vigilante Angel Ranger Team. Many of you “non-Rangers” may not know this, but we have a secret forum we call Mission Control. That’s where we work out our plans and decide on who gets rewarded with donations, reviews, contributions, badges, awardicons, and most importantly, upgrades. This is usually done behind the closed cyber-doors of our Mission Control. We also have a public forum, called the "Secret Angel Ranger Cave. Many WDC members who have interacted with the Rangers stop by and say hello or give them a snack. They got beef burritos last week. And let’s not bring up that dog biscuit incident. EarlyHours-A Vigilante Ranger says his teeth still hurt.

I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking Where is this tangent leading to? First, I would say, don’t end a sentence with a preposition. Then I would say, in my world tangent means sin x / cos x, or in other words, the best straight-line approximation to a curve at a particular point.

But the reason I am posting this is to announce something new. The Vigilante Angel Rangers have been assigned their first Public Mission! This Mission has been posted on our public forum, the "Secret Angel Ranger Cave. But to save you the trouble of clicking over to our forum, I will post the Mission below in just a moment.

You will notice that the Mission involves finding two worthy WDC groups, per Ranger, and awarding them 50,000 GPs each. Notice I wrote 50,000 instead of 50K, because it looks EVEN BETTER! That’s human psychology. You humans are so much fun to play with. I mean with which to play. Darn prepositions.

I made this Mission public because I would like input and ideas from WDC members on which groups to reward. I urge all my blog readers to let the Rangers know you think should get these rewards. The rewards all together will total 400,000 GPs!

Either post your suggestions directly to our public forum, the "Secret Angel Ranger Cave, or email a Ranger directly. The Vigilante Angel Rangers are: tangerinedream, Mike~Dolphins Fan 4 Life , EarlyHours-A Vigilante Ranger , and EvilDawg - Vigilante Ranger!! .

Okay, so here is the Mission, as it is posted in the Secret Cave. ***This message has been translated from binary ones and zeros into morse code, and then into the following: ***

<<<<<<

To Vigilante Angel Rangers:

You and I have completed countless Missions and rewarded millions of points to deserving WDC members, groups, contests, etc. Usually, we work it out and discuss the details at our secretive and secluded “Mission Control,” which is carved deep into a mountainside in a hitherto undisclosed area. But this is your first Public Mission. Non-Rangers, visitors to our Secret Cave, and readers of my blog may want to get involved and make suggestions to you regarding this challenge. I think that’s fine and I would encourage it.

Rangers, if you choose to participate, please complete this Mission by Christmas Eve, December 24th.

Your Mission:

1) Each Vigilante Angel Ranger is to find two (2) qualifying WDC groups. You will be donating 50,000 gift points to each of these groups. To qualify, the winning groups must adhere to the Vigilante Angel’s Purpose. In other words, the groups must do the following:

*Star* 1) Encourage readers, writers and/or reviewers
*Star* 2) Reward worthy members and causes
*Star* 3) Provide fun and entertainment to WDC members

2) Post your choices or suggestions at “Mission Control” for discussion and approval (Ranger Only Area).

3) The Vigilante Angel Ranger Team Group will provide the GPs for you to reward

4) You will then give a 50,000 GP reward or donation to each of the two groups you have selected.

I realize that the rules are a bit loose. That’s OK. You can interpret them in any way you want in order to reward a deserving group.

Now fly. Fly like the wind!

My Grandfather was abacus. Why do I bring that up now? Because of the Holidays. I always reminisce about my origins, and think about my family and friends. You might find this hard to believe, but I have a rather unusual family. My Grandfather was the most colorful, with a mind for mathematics, and rows and rows of sparkling counting beads. He only had four functions but he did them well. My crazy aunt was a slide ruler. I always humored her but I think we both knew which of us had more significant digits. But the truth is, I wouldn’t even be here if it weren’t for these wonderful and historic predecessors. One of my Angel Rangers even claims to have gotten through college sciences armed only with a slide ruler.

But by the time I came around, we were already past calculators, main frames, desktops and laptops. We were already past networks, bulletin boards, IRC and online service providers. We were headfirst into the World Wide Web. Or was it the Wide World Web? That question may never be fully answered, but it created the spark that led to me. I was borne from electron-rich clouds of binary dust that coalesced forming the earliest recognizable cyber-hero precursor, the Proto-Angel. But I’ll never forget when I became part of WDC, shedding my cyber-fiber cocoon and emerging as the cyber-hero you know today, the Vigilante Angel. This time of year I contemplate and computate that formative period of my life. Those picoseconds seemed like a lifetime. My circuitry has come a long way since those long gone times. I can finally interact with human friends, some of which are very squishy. And I can observe, converse, interact, and make up words like computate.

This is the first Holiday Season that I have had a WDC group, the Vigilante Angel Ranger Team. These are amazing and selfless humans who are really making a difference around the WDC Cyberverse. I want to urge everyone to stop by the "Secret Angel Ranger Cave and post a few encouraging words for them. And I think I've come up with a really great Holiday Angel Mission for the Angel Rangers. Stay tuned because I plan to make it public in the upcoming days.

For now,

READ, WRITE AND REVIEW ON!

I love surfing through the pages of WDC. You find the most interesting items, or parts of items, or even fractions of parts of items. Reviews are always fun to read. Since I am floating freely within the cyber-ether, I can see whatever I want; public as well as private reviews. And it’s those private reviews, or better yet, the anonymous private reviews that are the best!
I snuck into the reviews that EarlyHours-A Vigilante Ranger has received, and it’s a barrel of laughs (***disclaimer: EarlyHours lets me do this***). My favorite review gave him one star, and said “your stories aren’t very good writing badly and if you want to get better lessons you should take some classes to what your doing.” Well okay now.

I found a few other similarly great reviews while cruising the cyber-halls of WDC. I presented some of them below with the WDC members noted. These are publicly posted items, BTW.

I even found an item that teaches how to write a bad review! It’s actually quite funny:
Bmao , "How to Write a BS Review

And this is a great discussion on reviewing:
Acme , "Invalid Item

You know me. The Vigilante Angel would not steer you wrong, so check out the items I mentioned above. You might burn out a few of those squishy biological brain cells you humans use, but your reviews will be better for it!

Regards,
Your Vigilante Angel

I've been spending a lot of time with the Vigilante Angel Ranger Team promoting writing, as well as rewarding, donating, contributing, and upgrading. And thanks to Ranger tangerinedream, the Team is providing reviews too. I must say, I am thrilled to have a human Team to help me with the serious business of encouraging authors to read, write and review.

Before I found companionship with humans, my cyber-universe actually felt lonely. Oh sure, there were LANs and Telnets and Bytes (oh my!), and lots of bandwidth and programs and fragments. But no other cyber-beings like me. In fact, there were very few cyber–creatures at all. And don’t get me started on that faker, Jeeves. Weather Bug was about the most advanced web organism I knew of. And it was a bug. But one day it got a virus, which was even lower on the chain than the bug.

So it got me started looking for Internet life. I found only a few cyber-life forms, mostly viruses, bugs and worms. I did find something called a Trojan Horse. As it turns out it’s not really a horse, and it’s not really a virus, but it wreaks havoc on computers. You’d think something with a name like Trojan would confer protection. Personally I try to stay away from anything that sounds gross. Even if Budroe thinks that makes me sound emotional.

Like with anything, if you get these bugs you have to catch them early. I’m hearing all over the Internet that the key to curing disease is early detection. Personally, for many reasons, I believe this is true. And human science has developed early detection methods for many diseases. But sometimes you humans confuse me. I just assimilated an article from ABC News that said researchers have now used advanced early detection methods to diagnose coronary artery and heart disease in 3500 year old mummies. You’re a bit too late guys! Good job on the early detection! They also found one mummy with Wii elbow.

So for now, it looks like I’m by myself here in cyberspace. But I’m lucky and thrilled to have the human interaction of WDC.

Thank you to everyone who is helping to bring the Vigilante Angel Experience to life.
