** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** Hmm...one day I'll write a newer introduction. Maybe I should make a static item of all my different introductions. New Introduction, October 31, 2005 It's time to update this introduction. Since June 2005, I've packed up and moved from Armenia to the US, found a house, waited a month for settlement, moved in, found a preschool for my son, got settled in, and maybe found my sanity. Maybe. I'm just now getting back to writing. Read on for more about me and life in the US. Original Introduction: I live in the former Soviet Republic of Armenia nine months out of the year. The rest of the time you can find me living out of a suitcase in the US or on one of our travels somewhere. This journal started out as a description of my life in Armenia, but I've amended it since I've realized that life there is very similar to life everywhere. I don't have a car, clothes dryer, microwave, or dishwasher but I've learned one doesn't really need those things to have a fulfilling life. Some days I'm just estatic over a slow trickle of hot water which can mean the difference between being smelly for another twenty-four hours or being clean. By the way, DH=dear husband; DS=darling son; MIL=mother-in-law. You get the picture. |
-That I'd be sitting here avidly awaiting a poop to fall in the little training potty. The same potty that will be a real pain in the ass to clean. And not my poop either. -That housetraining a puppy has got to be easier than toilet training an almost 4-year old stubborn as a mule boy. -That I've done more loads of laundry these past few days WITHOUT my darling husband here to add to the pile...wet pants, wet underpants, wet towels, wet, wet, wet. We've had some successes, but I want MORE! -That when Grandma called, the first thing I told her was that munchkin learned how to blow his nose and the whole experience, blow by blow! (sorry, couldn't resist!) -With the amount of cleaning I've been doing around here you'd think my house would be spotless! It is! There isn't a spot left that isn't covered in popcorn, paint, toys, or dirty laundry. BUT, my sink is shiny! (Thanks Flylady!) And my dishwasher is ready to run. And the laundry, while not folded, is moving through the cleaning process and neither of us has run out of clean undergarments. -Did you know diaper wipes are excellent for cleaning the little spots around the door handles and on the walls and the top of the stove? Woo hoo! I'm slowly washing my kitchen floor one diaper wipe at a time. Gotta run...munchkin just brought me a little bowl of pee pee to clean up. He's so proud! And I am too. Now, if he'd just poop in the darn thing, I'd be able to take him to Chuck E. Cheese (the carrot, so to speak.) *waves* |
***You Have a Phlegmatic Temperament*** Mild mannered and laid back, you take life at a slow pace. You are very consistent - both in emotions and actions. You tend to absorb set backs easily. You are cool and collected. It is difficult to offend you. You can remain composed and unemotional. You are a great friend and lover. You don't demand much of others. While you are quiet, you have a subtle wit that your friends know well. At your worst, you are lazy and unwilling to work at anything. You often get stuck in a rut, without aspirations or dreams. You can get too dependent on others, setting yourself up for abandonment. What Temperment Are You? http://www.blogthings.com/whattempermentareyouquiz/ |

[actual e-mail sent to hubby who is away on a business trip] yes, it's that fucking early in the morning. your son woke me up at 6:40 wanting a smoothie. he since decided that hot chocolate was better than a smoothie but he's still awake! he slept in my bed with me again last night and woke me up twice wanting water...and not just a sip, either. He drank big gulps of the stuff. he helped me make coffee this morning and now he's eating a frozen waffle and watching dora. I'm toasting some of your frozen buckwheat waffles. I'm tired. but OK. I was a responsible adult and went to bed at 9:30 last night instead of staying up to watch CSI NY. I heard the bells toll 10 and contemplated turning it on...but no, I didn't 'cause I knew I'd be up early. LOL...being an adult stinks sometimes. hope class went well. glad your luggage made it with you and that you got some sleep. toodles, Susan |
Actual e-mail to hubby...items in the [ ] have been added for your (my faithful reader's) entertainment. [start e-mail] The ice maker fixed itself after being turned off for a day. Guess it just needed the rest. The ice chunks fell away so I guess they were the problem. [for days the fridge has been making a weird noise which only I could hear. But then, I'm the only one sitting next to it for hours on end since it's my laptop sitting on the kitchen table...aka my office] Munchkin is in love with bath time. I bought some Mr. Bubble (and only used a tiny amount). He's thrilled. We both slept in grandma's bed last night. [the guest room]He's there now. He went from his bed to grandma's bed so he could watch tv tonight.[which promptly got turned off one I realized what he had done] Made it to the bank and returned the lightbulbs to HT. The sink is shiny and the dishwasher is ready to run.[Anyone familiar with Flylady will cheer at this last sentence. Check out http://www.flylady.net] Even managed to start some laundry. I haven't set the alarm off, yet. [I set if off just last week trying to arm it in the dark. Take my advice and turn on the light.] Got the .pdf files and I'm working on them now. I plan on finishing tomorrow (Thurs). I'll let you know about the payment stuff. I'm off to bed. The worst part of your being gone is dealing with a chipper kid in the morning. It was 73 degrees and WARM today. woo hoo! Love you! Susan |

I received some touching and encouraging comments about my "Invalid Entry" post (here and via e-mail). Thanks for taking the time to brighten my day. Things are looking up. When I'm not having one of "those" days I can see that the good days far, far outnumber the bad. And after an e-mail discussion with another mom going through the same thing (she's back in the UK after 10 years in Asia) I've learned that the only way to get through this is to literally, get through it. Just power through each day and eventually it does get better. |
I could sure use some right now. Almost done phase one of my editing project. Phase two is after the graphic designer does his stuff and I have to point out all the symbol errors and the parts that are still in Armenian for some reason or another. It's fun work. I love it. *waves* |
I just read an epistle from a friend who just moved there for the year about his first two weeks. Now I'm weepy. I know most of the restaurants he's talking about. I know most of the people he refers to. I know the buildings and architecture and how everything is broken down or worn out. What a mess I am. |
I pussyfooted around at the beginning of this editing project and now I'm paying for it. I'll be offline for a few days until I can finally finish. I should be checking e-mail. See you next week, Susan *waves* |
Copyediting a business magazine Writing a book review for https://www.novelspot.net Adding content to my new website https://www.ArmeniaForVisitors.com Adding content to my new professional website (to be announced when there's more there) Kicking around ideas for 3 e-books Trying to find paying jobs for my writing |
I'm at the stage where I'm wondering why, exactly, I agreed to do this. And will it be any good? I'm a paragraph and a sentence into it and I'm not sure where to go next. I know I'll be happy with it once its done, but the self doubt is creeping around my consciousness and I'd really rather sit on the couch and watch TV with hubby than present the world with my tiny string of words. |
ahhh...Lazytown...one of the shows I get to watch with munchkin on a daily basis. I'm in love with Sportacus, the character played by Magnus Scheving. Why? Well... Like my hubby, he's tall... Like my hubby, he has a mustache... Like my hubby, he has a great smile... Like my hubby, he looks great in a hat... Like my hubby, he makes my heart go pitter patter... My sister in law had a dream that I found a job that paid what I want, didn't cost me much in childcare, and that I was very happy and relaxed about. Unfortunately, she woke up before hearing what this dream job was. Her assignment tonight? To finish that dream so I know what to do next with my life! |

Have you seen it yet?
