Hmm...one day I'll write a newer introduction. Maybe I should make a static item of all my different introductions. *Laugh*

New Introduction, October 31, 2005
It's time to update this introduction. Since June 2005, I've packed up and moved from Armenia to the US, found a house, waited a month for settlement, moved in, found a preschool for my son, got settled in, and maybe found my sanity. Maybe. I'm just now getting back to writing. Read on for more about me and life in the US.

Original Introduction:
I live in the former Soviet Republic of Armenia nine months out of the year. The rest of the time you can find me living out of a suitcase in the US or on one of our travels somewhere. This journal started out as a description of my life in Armenia, but I've amended it since I've realized that life there is very similar to life everywhere. I don't have a car, clothes dryer, microwave, or dishwasher but I've learned one doesn't really need those things to have a fulfilling life. Some days I'm just estatic over a slow trickle of hot water which can mean the difference between being smelly for another twenty-four hours or being clean.

By the way, DH=dear husband; DS=darling son; MIL=mother-in-law. You get the picture.

Someone asked me if I wrote humor. I didn't know how to respond. I wasn't trying to be humorous in that e-mail, though what I said was funny, to me. My husband just looks at me askance as I laugh myself silly at my own jokes.

Should I take a stab at writing humor? Or is it one of those don't quit your day job things?

At least they didn't aske me if I wrote horror! *Laugh* @ self.

Woo hoo!

Started doing some reviewing today. I need to earn some gps. People are getting too quick with the bot games and I need to finance the Tupperware link!

One person is doing an online party. Should be fun. Interested???

musings....

I've never written an Annual State of the Susan Report, but I think it'll be an interesting exercise to see where I've been and what I've accomplished in the past year. I get so mired in the day to day, I forget the big picture. And while I may feel like a failure because yet another deadline didn't get met or something that I wanted to do didn't get done, I'm seeing that I really did do much to be proud of this past year. I'm going to start exploring this in blog entries, then put an essay together.

I started decluttering some papers that had been hanging around since the move last year. Wonder how long it'll take before I finally feel totally moved in??? Wonder how long it'll take to finally finish unpacking boxes???

6 1/2 years ago I packed up my whole house and life and moved to Armenia with 14 boxes and 4 suitcases and my husband. Last year at this time I moved back to the US, with about 14 boxes and 6 suitcases plus my husband and son. We moved to a new city, unpacked our storage units into the garage, and are still digging out.

Got me the Island Palazzo Pants & Tunic...black pants, moss green tunic. To wear to my mom's garden wedding in August.

Got me some gaucho pants to be my new airplane pants. My last pair of airplane pants finally fell apart. A comfy pair of pants for long haul flights is a must! In black.

Got me hte breeze tunic and shorts...red tunic, black shorts. Just because!

We're going to Armenia in July/August. Talk about hot! Easy to care for, light to pack, and good looking. What more could a girl ask for???

It's 7 a.m. and I'm back home. One of the benefits of living 10 minutes away from the slep lab. I woke up on my own at 6:15, tired but not grumpy or feeling bad. My mouth wasn't dry as a bone. I kept yawning. By the time I got home, I felt like a new woman, and I can't remember when I felt this good in the morning. My mind is clear. I'm motivated to actually do something, which right now is write this. Let's not talk about the projects that are overdue, or the messy house, nope. I can only do one thing at a time and right now writing a brain dump is it.

I need $75 in sales to make a sales goal and earn an extra 5% in commission. I realized that I didn't order two sales items, so that'll help. And my dad is having a catalog party, but I can't count on that. Some catalog parties are fantastic; some don't make any money at all. Like real estate agents, you can't count on the money until after the closing…for me, can't count on the money until after the party closes. I don't hang my hat on any particular outcome…it's less stress for me.

Almost 10:30 am…tiredness is setting in. I didn't get all that much sleep last night, even though what I got was better. I wish I could have taken a machine home with me so I could nap this afternoon. My body is craving good sleep, and coffee just isn't an adequate replacement. We're at the pool. I've work with me, but I don't feel like doing it. Too tired. And it's hard to concentrate. And I'm tired of yelling at kiddo. He's tormenting an older kid with some sort of squirt thingie and I don't want to have to be the heavy and take it away from him. Dare I start the book review that's overdue by a month? Should I pull out the editing project? I won't be putting on my bathing suit. I'm just not in the mood for that. I must say, being able to write at the pool is such a treat, as was writing in bed at the sleep lab, and even at the kitchen table this morning…right next to the laptop! LOL And so, dear Nada , that is the answer to your question. When all I want to do is type, the uber portability of the QuickPad is fantastic. It's light. Instant on. Seventy plus hours on one set of batteries. I won't lose info if the batteries die.

Typing on the QuickPad again. It's 9:30 pm and I'm hanging out at the sleep center tonight. It's my CPAP sleep test. Joy, oh joy. This time last week I was here for a polysommatic sleep test, I think they call it. The diagnosis was mild sleep apnea. Today I'm here to sleep with the CPAP machine…it's a mask you wear over your nose and it sends a continuous stream of air down your gullet so you don't snore, well, so your airway doesn't collapse cutting off your breathing. Last week I was too sexy for my boot, tonight I'll be too sexy for my mask. Right now I've got electrodes and leads everywhere. Two each on each leg, three for an EKG, a strap around my stomach, a strap around my chest, a microphone wrapped on my neck, two leads on my chin, behind my ears, three on my face, and 4 or 6 in my hair. And they expect me to sleep with all this hardware?

Now is a good time. Friday ends the month, and I'm *this* close to hitting a goal and earning a higher commission rate on everything I've sold this month.

Plus, there are some fabu sales right now that will change on Saturday.

Check it out...

A man walked into the ladies department of a Macy's and shyly walked up to the woman behind the counter and said, "I'd like to buy a bra for my wife.

What type of bra?" asked the clerk.

Type?" inquires the man, "There's more than one type?

Look around," said the saleslady, as she showed a sea of bras in every shape, size, color and material imaginable.
Actually, even with all of this variety, there are really only four types of bras to choose from.

Relieved, the man asked about the types.

The saleslady replied: There are the Catholic, the Salvation Army, the Presbyterian, and the Baptist types. Which one would you prefer?

Now totally befuddled, the man asked about the differences between them.

The Saleslady responded, "It is all really quite simple...

The Catholic type supports the masses.
The Salvation Army type lifts the fallen,
The Presbyterian type keeps them staunch and upright, and
The Baptist makes mountains out of mole hills.

Have you ever wondered why A, B, C, D, DD, E, F, G, and H are the letters used to define bra sizes?

If you have wondered why, but couldn't figure out what the letters stood for, it is about time you became informed!

(A) Almost Boobs...
(B) Barely there.
(C) Can't Complain!
(D) Dang!
(DD)Double dang!
(E) Enormous!
(F) Fake.
(G) Get a Reduction.
(H) Help me, I've fallen and I can't get up !

Don't forgot the German bra.

I'm typing this on my new quick pad. Woo hoo! It's supposed to transfer the document to wherever the cursor is. I tried it for my word processing program, and we'll see if it works directly into the blog. Haven't tried it with my e-mail yet. We'll see. The first hour of it actually working were spent with kiddo typing in some letters, then wanting me to transfer them to the computer, then doing more. His work! LOL. He's so funny. This will be a good distraction while I work on the laptop though. He can push buttons, see the results, and the thing is virtually indestructible. Can't' beat that. I'm planning to take it to the pool so that I can work on whatever writing projects are going on…book review for one. And maybe some of the web copy. This thing will definitely be going on vacation with us. OK..no more playing. Gotta focus on the editing. Got my foot in its boot and propped up on the windowsill. Got the wireless keyboard ready, though I think I could use this as a wireless keyboard. It's only 3 pm and I've done nothing on my to do list. Gotta edit! *waves*

10 am-ish...

Maybe some public accountability will help me focus. I'll strike through as I get things done. I might even add things I do just to strike them off!

*15 mins. minimum on Expat Harem book review
*Finish Expat Harem book review (ideal world)
*Post Bittman review on Novelspot
*Post Bittman review on SST.com
*Format Macey interview
*E-mail Dad the instruction letter for hosting a Tupperware catalog party
*Fax secret shopping receipt
*Input edits on "oh la la" book---an hour's worth!
*Edit book reviews for NS (I think there are 3-4 there to be done.) I did 2.

OK...off to work! Once I get my fresh cup o' joe.

Added just so I could cross them off:
Send out Aileen interview
1 load of laundry
calculate replacement seal price
4pm--where has the afternoon gone? Oh yeah, dealing with kiddo who was so totally outta control. Most of this work got done when he finally fell asleep. Hubby is napping too. Me, not tired at the moment. Going to make a cup of decaf tea and get back to it while I can!

If I wasn't so lazy, I'd take a picture for you. Maybe I can find a link.

It's hard to type. I've got the wireless keyboard on my lap and my feet propped up on a chair.

My apologies to Nada for almost causing her to swallow her gum while reading my last blog entry. She's my most regular commenter and I'd hate to do anything to dissuade her from visiting. *waves*

So, aren't I supposed to be feeling better for having gone to the doctor and suffering through a cortisone shot??? (I kept telling myself that if I can give birth without anaestetic, a shot is a piece of cake.) But it hurts, and I think it's from doing the exercises. I did have a few pain free days, well, my heel felt better but the injection site was sore, now things are reversed. I got a new pair of styling New Balance running shoes though! woo hoo! And this sexy boot.

*wanders away singing I'm to sexy for my boot, sexy for my boot...*

Here, try this link...my boot is black, therefore sexy, but you'll get the idea.

Don't go looking for part 1. It was written in an e-mail to me from my best friend and sister-in-law Liz. She was telling me about her week at scout camp. I've not spoken to her all week, a record since I've returned to the US, and she's no idea what's been going on in my life this week. I did leave her a very tired sounding voice mail that the title was appropriate for both of us. We often deal with the same issues at the same time. As a matter of fact, she called while I was writing this paragraph, laughing that it happened once again.

This has been a good, but exhausting week for me. I've finished the edits and proofing on the magazine I work on quarterly. That was a few late nights. I took munchkin to the pool every morning except today since there were no swim lessons today. I did have a mammogram today. And a physical yesterday. And a sleep study Wed. night. And an appt. with the foot specialist.

The diagosis? Healthy as a horse. Bloodwork fine. Mild sleep apnea and now I have to go back for another sleep study using the CPAP machine. Plantar faciatis with a small heel spur and a whole exercise/care regimen. And a cortisone shot.

All is good. Though my boobs aren't heading sout because of age or gravity, no sir. It's because they're getting squished once a year in the name of preventative medicine. I had to roll 'em back up to stuff 'em in my bra to go home.

I'll leave you now with that picture! *evil laugh*

I ordered a QuickPad off of e-bay. It was missing a cable, which I knew, and it wouldn't work without said cable, which I didn't know. I ordered the cable (actually, it's an IR receiver, and not just any IR receiver will work, only their IR receiver) and QuickPad shipped it the very same day, UPS ground. I just checked and it won't be here until Monday. I want to use it! NOW!!!
