Now, down to the focus of my blog. *ponders and wrinkles brow* There is none.

I plan on talking about anything and everything that is wierd and happens to cross my mind at the time. Some moments may seem pretty sane, but they will quickly be interrupted by things much less normal, things that may make you cringe, clamp your jaw tight and make sure your belt buckle is still cinched.

Anyway, on with the ... ramblings. *Laugh*

I just printed out my contest submission and plan on taking it to the post office tomorrow morning after stopping by the bank. It's a good thing the contest deadline was pushed to September 15th. *Laugh*

But then, that lets me try and get a second submission ready to send in if I get to writing it this weekend. I am hoping for something a lot more bright, a bit humorous and down right erotic. *Laugh* I have an idea for the story already, too. *Wink*

I don't recognise this room of my castle anymore. It's been such a long while since I posted last.

Anyway, I just thought I would post a comment that I'm getting a story ready to print tonight so I can mail it off for a contest and I keep looking at it and thinking, "I could change that bit a little and the bit over there and the..." *Laugh*

I am also thinking about editing some of my other shorter stories to give them a little more length and submitting them to other publishers also. I'll just have to see if I am attached to them enough to put that effort into them.

*sigh*

I am not good at coming up with the right names when the pressure is on and I have a story that needs written. What's worse is when I know the story will fade in importance as time passes.

So, how is it that you come up with names for characters?

*knows I am addressing a very limited audience* *Laugh*

Oh, and if you want to help with names I can post a brief description of the characters I have in mind.

"It's being called a Geneva Convention for Robots -- a code of ethics that's under development to govern how human beings use robots. So why is something like this necessary?" -- Dan Damon

That was the topic of one of the news reports on BBC World Update this morning when I was getting out the door to head for work.

At first I thought it would be about how humans build robots to not impose upon other humans, but it went further than that. I had to get my RealPlayer installed again at work and listen to the entire news clip from the beginning.

The topic turned out to be about how robots would need to treat humans and how humans would have to decently treat robots when they are at the stage of being look-alikes to humans.

There is a code of ethics being designed by institutes of technology around the world. The code of ethics is to define acceptable behavior of robots when interacting with humans and it will also define acceptable behaviour of humans when dealing with robots when they are so close to looking like human beings. To make this point they mentioned one of the scientists involved in the creation of the code of ethics and the robot he has designed which looks like very much like his wife.

From there Dan Damon brought up the next obvious question, probably because he is a guy and that is where guys tend to think, "What about sex with a robot then?" *Laugh*

The scientist he is interviewing says that was one of the questions that came up. He states that we already have inflatable dolls and now have some items that do have some reaction of their own and that seems acceptable. But the topic continued with this statement that blurred the line some, "Imagine that I am building a copy of my daughter and suddenly somebody is having sex with the copy of my daughter. Is this acceptable? To address these issues we need to have ethical rules on what is acceptable behavior and what is not acceptable behavior."

The following concern was about how practical of an issue this would be in everyday life today which lead to robots in the military. There it is currently acceptable to have robots doing the work or delivering a weapon as long as a human is the final decision maker in firing the weapon. At what point is it acceptable that the robot chooses on its own to fire said weapon?

Very intriguing questions all the way around. And definitely food for a writer's imagination. *Wink*

Anyway, I had a few story ideas come ot of that two and a half minute interview. I just need to pick one and write. But that is much easier said than done.

Wheee!!

I found another television series I love. It's called Cold Feet and it is about a bunch of friends in London and how they all get on together. It's not like East Enders which is soap opera-ish but is really funny and very easilly relatable to. It's just great. *Smile*

Great foreshadowing is like great foreplay. If it is not done well you may end up with a pleasent surprise later on, but if it is done masterfully you know you are in for an amazing time. *Wink*

... Can you see where my mind is today? *Laugh*
