A tree leans threateningly over the sidewalk.


Guardian

Hold on there, traveller!
Thou shalt not pass,
my arms akimbo,
myriad fingers spread upon the sky,
I leer with yawning mouth,
and lean upon the way,
till toll is paid
to sentry’s bold alert.
