Ozone

It’s a forgotten smell, the ocean,
that comes with instant memory
upon the wind from those vast wastes
of endless motion and scattered isles.

Years of continental saturation
washed away with the sharp tang
of salt and spray and heaving swell,
life’s eternal struggle in cold green depths.
