Aloft

All this night at the clock tower
nocturnal soars the hunter
through the dark and secret air
silent in its shadowed strike.

Fast asleep in pillowed bed
dreams the Duke of daytime fame
wings his thoughts above the world
owlish desire to touch the sky.
