A day in the life of... me!
A HUGE Thank you to Emily for the beautiful ribbon *Smile*

First place in "The Bard's Hall Contest for July/August 2012!

A day in the life of... me! Sometimes I need to rant. Sometimes I have something burning on my mind. Sometimes I'm so angry I feel like reverting back to old coping mechanisms. So I thought a journal was a good idea!

I feel ranting is an important part to life, everyone does it to some degree or another and it's not healthy to bottle things up inside. So for those moments where I feel a rant (or just a general thought) and want to get it off my chest, here it will be!

However, ranting is not everything. Sometimes I just feel like I want to share something with someone, and often there is nobody to listen (wow that makes me sound sad! I do have friends but I tend to let them do the talking rather than share). So here I can get things off my chest, rant or be happy, whatever the mood *Smile*

Prompt: What show or movie will you always watch when it comes on, no matter how many times you've seen it before?

I feel that this is a really hard question to answer. Not because I don't rewatch things but because I rewatch things all the time! Yup! I am one of those irritating people who watches certain films and TV shows over and over and never gets bored of them when everyone else is tired of the same thing. I can't help it. I guess it's just who I am *Smile*

There are just SO MANY films I love watching over and over. I don't necessarily watch them on TV as it's quite rare that I put the TV on. Instead I tend to watch DVDs repeatedly. I think for the sake of this blog entry I'll go with Lord of the Rings. It is so completely awesome and the trilogy being my favourite movies of all time. I know that I'll never get bored of them. Ever. They have so much to offer from the lands of Middle Earth from stunning scenery to amazing characters and a timeless love tale. I must have watched them hundreds of times!

But there are so many other movies that I will always watch again like Titanic, The Beach, 300, Sin City, Wizard of Oz, Disney Films, the superhero marvel series. *Smile*

For TV I think I'll have to go with Friends. Everybody knows it, everybody loves it. I mean, how can you avoid it? It's always on TV somewhere filling in a half hour before something else. I don't think that's a bad thing either. It's a brilliant show, witty and fun and full of all of lifes mishaps that people like to watch.

Prompt: Did you ever watch a movie you weren't supposed to (like sneaking into a theater playing an R-rated movie when you're too young to buy a ticket yourself)? If so which one and how did you feel about it afterward? If not, were you ever tempted to?

I wasn't much of a rebel when I was a kid, not really. Sure when we had sleepovers there were always those horror movies that we just had to watch like The Blair Witch Project or Scream. I'm a bit of a wuss though and the horror movies always got to me (much as they do now!) Wow I just loved those sleepovers though. There were always at least five of us girls crammed into one room with sleeping bags and jarmies and in one case, lots and lots of *Cat*! I love it. I kinda miss that sleepover thing. Anyone else ever do it?

The only movie I remember 'sneaking' in to see at the cinema when I was underage was The Beach!

It was a 15 rating when it came out and we were about twelve (my friend Becca and I) so her mam took us up and bought us the tickets and sneaked us right in. I still don't know why it was that rating, I don't think it was justified but there you go! I loved it and I still love it to this day *Smile*

Prompt: Do you have a favorite screenwriter? BONUS: If you don't have one or know any (or even if you do), why do you think screenwriters aren't given as much prestige as actors, directors, and producers?

I'm afraid I'm going to have to go with the latter prompt piece here. I don't know of any favourite screenwriters of mine, or at least, I don't think I do. I know that they are definitely not given as much prestige as the people in the film/TV series and the people that create it. I think that's because of the medium. A film is just that, something a person wants to watch. They want to be entertained for that space in time and while the story is important, it's what the actors and directors do with it that really makes it or breaks it. So I think although the screenwriter is given credit it's certainly not enough. When I think back to some movies I've watched and some TV shows and think Wow what a story! even I have to admit I'm giving more credit to those in and creating in that the people who came up with the idea. I think it's got something to do with the moving action that is a front for the story. If it was a book it would be a different case altogether because that is the only medium the reader will enjoy.

Prompt: What was one of your favorite cartoons as a kid? Or today... if you still watch cartoons today, you can totally talk about those too.

Ooh cartoons! I have to admit, I do love watching cartoons. When I was younger it was always Disney. When I say younger, I mean anytime from being born until now *Laugh* I do love them. They're films I can watch over and over. When I was at Uni I began to get into the Studio Ghibli movies and in particular my favourites are Howl's Moving Castle and Spirited Away.

But of course, they're not television based. I used to watch loads of programs as a kid and even into my teens when I came home from school I always used to watch them. They held this strange fascination for me. I think it was partly the crazy creativity that could always be found in them. There are a lot of cartoons that come to mind but I think I'll have to go with Arthur!

I bet you're laughing at me now *Facepalm* haha. I can't help it. I was mesmerised by the show and I can't even tell you why. I just loved watching it. I think the concept was so simple and the fact that all of Arthur's friends were different animals. And his sister, DW, was just so adorable!

I also have to add that I loved Hey Arnold ("Move it football head!")

I mean come on, the hidden love, Helga and her blonde bunches, Arnold with his silly smile. It was all good!

Prompt: Who is your favorite director?

I was kinda mulling two people over in my head with this prompt. One of them has created some of my favourites movies of all time. The other, has created a lot of very wild and unique films. I'm going to go with the latter in this case. My favourite director has to be Quentin Tarantino.

By no means have I seen everything he's directed and I'm a little ashamed to say I've not seen Pulp Fiction *Blush* It's one of those films that's on my list of things to watch but there are so many and it always gets a little forgotten. But I think everything he directs is brilliant in it's own way. He's a very creative man and he creates very unique visions of worlds and characters that he absolutely brings to life on screen. Some of my favourite films of his are: Kill Bill Vol. 1 & 2, Planet Terror, From Dusk Until Dawn and Django Unchained.

Of course, there are a list of films he directed that I intend to see too:

*Bullet* Pulp Fiction
*Bullet* Resovoir Dogs
*Bullet* Grindhouse

And as I was checking out his page there it looks like Kill Bill Vol 3 has just been announced!

Prompt: What's your favorite movie of 2014 so far?

If I'm honest, I haven't been able to watch many movies yet this year. I have been to the cinema a few times but money has been so tight recently that I've had to be very careful and what I'm doing and when. I saw That Awkward Moment with my sister:

It was a movie that I went into totally blind having not seen the trailer and I have to say, I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I do like a sappy chick flick now and again. After this I saw Non-Stop:

I really enjoyed Non-Stop. It was typical Neeson full of action and drama and a little intrigue too. It kept me rooted right through. And finally, I went to see 300: Rise of an Empire because I loved the first film so much.

I have to be honest and say I don't feel like it lived up to the first film at all. Don't get me wrong, it was good and I did enjoy it, but I don't think it can compare.

So my top movie of 2014 so far has to be Non-Stop.

Prompt:Tell me about a popular actor/actress you simply cannot stand.

I have to admit, I really struggled with this prompt. I am sure that there are plenty of people that I get annoyed by watching but at the minute, none are really coming to mind.

I think it's a little unfair on my part that I dislike Charlie Sheen, after all, it's quite biased because I don't/haven't watched anything that he's been in but I dislike him for the fact that everyone seems to rave about him. I've watched Two and a Half Men on several occasions and not found it the least bit funny and when all that stuff came out on the news about him, I couldn't help but take a personal dislike to the man.

There are other people who annoy me for different reasons. For example, Kristen Stewart who has absolutely no emotional diversity:

But then, I don't hate the girl either!

Prompt: Talk about the moment when a favorite show of yours jumped the shark.*

*"Jump the shark" is an idiom (named for a scene in Happy Days where the Fonz did just that) that essentially means the point at which a show begins to decline, often after a particularly cheesy, unrealistic, or gimmicky scene that feels like the show just threw it in there to try to keep interest alive. Some examples of "jump the shark" moments include:

*Bullet* Roseanne winning the lottery on ROSEANNE
*Bullet* The reveal that Karen's dead husband Stanley was actually alive on WILL & GRACE
*Bullet* The musical episode of GREY'S ANATOMY
*Bullet* The reveal that Vaughn isn't actually Vaughn in ALIAS
*Bullet* The gigantic red orb hovering over the city in ALIAS

When I first read this prompt, it took me a little while of thinking to come up with what I did. I do watch television shows, don't get me wrong, but I don't follow them on TV as such because I'm never in the house. So the TV shows that I do follow are quite limited and ones that I've personally picked up because I enjoy watching.

With this I have to admit a guilty secret of mine. I always liked watching One Tree Hill *Blush* I think it was the pretty people in it as well as all the drama that unfolded and it was a way to just let my mind go!

However, I think that after Peyton and Lucas made their exit in the end of season six, the show was just about gone. They brought in extra characters to fill the space and don't get me wrong, I still watched it (though I only got up to season seven) but I think the main part of the story was about Peyton and Lucas and their relationship with each other. What happened when they left? Lots of filler.

Prompt: We already did something popular you don't like... but what about an incredibly popular movie or show that you've never actually seen?

For this one, the first thing that came to mind is Game of Thrones! It's not that I don't want to watch it, I just haven't gotten around to it yet. I read all the books last year which I loved and then me and my partner were waiting until we finished getting up to date with Supernatural and then we're going to dive into the medieval world or death, dragons and betrayal!

Prompt: Which existing movie, old or new, would you love to see remade with modern technology/actors/etc.?

Well, this one came quite easily since I watched the original the other night. I would have to say Ghostbusters! Not that I don't really love the original movies, but I think that having them revamped with a little more in terms of special effects would be brilliant! Imagine slimer in 3D or having the ghosts be larger than life and especially that Stay Puft marshmallow man!

{x-link:http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0087332/?ref_=nv_sr_1}

{x-link:http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097428/?ref_=nv_sr_2}

I think both would have to be done to really have the same effects. I'd have Jim Carey, Eddie Murphy, Seth Rogan and Jack Black as my ghostbusters. Imagine how awesome that would be! Emma Stone can be the receptionist too!
