A day in the life of... me!
A HUGE Thank you to Emily for the beautiful ribbon *Smile*

First place in "The Bard's Hall Contest for July/August 2012!

A day in the life of... me! Sometimes I need to rant. Sometimes I have something burning on my mind. Sometimes I'm so angry I feel like reverting back to old coping mechanisms. So I thought a journal was a good idea!

I feel ranting is an important part to life, everyone does it to some degree or another and it's not healthy to bottle things up inside. So for those moments where I feel a rant (or just a general thought) and want to get it off my chest, here it will be!

However, ranting is not everything. Sometimes I just feel like I want to share something with someone, and often there is nobody to listen (wow that makes me sound sad! I do have friends but I tend to let them do the talking rather than share). So here I can get things off my chest, rant or be happy, whatever the mood *Smile*

Prompt: What brought you to WDC and what impact do you think it has had on your writing?

I first found Writing.Com many many moons ago. That's right, I'm a veteran. I loved this site from the moment I found it and could start posting my own works. I got really involved in the community then (I think I would have been fourteen) and spent time on the site every day if I could.

When I went through a few things in life, I lost it for a while. I couldn't bring myself to write and I lost interest in most things. I think I had depression without ever actually being told so. It took me a lot of years to pull myself around and finally, I got to a good place and I remember thinking, "What do I like doing?" And of course, writing came to mind. I found myself back on WdC within no time, commenting, posting, adding new work and getting involved. I regretted the time I'd spent away from the place as I think the healing nature of the community would have helped me through a lot, but alas, I cannot change the past.

I think WdC is responsible for all improvement in my writing. Obviously practice makes perfect but I think if it wasn't for all those valuable reviews I've received over the years, I never would have learned how to hone my craft. I've learned how to take criticism and through reading and reviewing myself, I've come to think about what I would change about the word and push that thinking onto my own writing.

Without WdC I don't think I would be where I am today and I certainly wouldn't be at the point of publishing a novel! Thank you, WdC, I owe you a lot *Heart*

Prompt: Which deceased actor or actress do you miss the most?

I have to say, it took me a few minutes to wrack my brains and then it came to me: Heath Ledger. Without a doubt.

{x-link:http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005132/?ref_=fn_al_nm_1}

Although he was in Home and Away (according to IMDB!) I never watched that and so I wasn't able to set my eyes on this gorgeous Australian hunk until he starred in 10 Things I Hate About You. I think that film was the beginning of me realising I was different to my friends! *Laugh* While they were all swooning over Joey in the film, I swooned over Patrick and his long hair. I always had a thing for men with long hair.

Now don't get me wrong, I certainly haven't seen everything he's been in but A Knight's Tale was a treat and of course Brokeback Mountain was a brilliant film too. But he also became widely known for his role in The Dark Knight {x-link:http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0468569/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_2} And of course, that was the film that brought about his demise following a breakdown as his role of the Joker.

I think his death rocked the entertainment world (as well as my own) and I have to say, I think he'll be a big miss as an actor.

Prompt: Which character of which television show would you most like to see a spinoff series about (i.e. a show specifically about that character... examples include FRASIER who was originally a character on CHEERS, JOEY who was originally a character on FRIENDS, and PRIVATE PRACTICE which followed a character that originally starred in GREY'S ANATOMY)?

Oooh I like this prompt. I knew exactly which character I'd go for if it were a movie but of course, it's about television. So when I think about the shows that I like to watch Supernatural is one of the top ones that come to mind. I've just finished watching season eight with my partner but I have to say, it's never been the same since Bobby died.

That's who my spin off show would be about, Bobby Singer. He makes a brilliant character, always makes me smile and you know deep down that he cares so much about the boys (the Winchesters) seeing them as sons. I just think he would make a brilliant sort of ghost and demon hunting show!

Prompt: What actor or actress do you like enough to watch in just about anything?

Ooh this is a tough one. Immediately several actors and actresses spring to mind. There are so many films I watch and think, wow, they are good at what they do. I guess we all have moments like that.

I think for an actress, I'm going to have to go with Rachel Weisz:

While I haven't followed everything she's ever been in, I love finding something new that she's in. From the moment I saw her in The Mummy, I thought she was brilliant. She played an aloof librarian who fell in love with the handsome rogue. And in the second one, her character only got stronger. But from there, she moved onto more serious films and dabbled in some children's films too. I think she's a really adaptable actress who can really act!

And just because I can't not include her, Emma Stone would be my next pick:

Again, I haven't seen everything she's been in but the things I have seen, I've enjoyed. I think she's a great actress, fun and I have to admit, I have a crush on her! haha.

In terms of actors, again there are a lot that come to mind from the old classics of Bruce Willis to more modern actors like Chris Hemsworth (helped a lot by the fact that he's gorgeous!) But I think for male actors I'll go with Johnny Depp:

I think he's a brilliant actor. He works so well with Helena Bonham Carter in many of the films he's in and of course, being directed by the wicked Tim Burton helps a lot. I do think a lot of the roles he plays are quite samey in that he is always portrayed as quite eccentric, but he does it so well!

Prompt: What's the first movie you remember seeing in a theater?

This one was pretty easy! As soon as I read the prompt for the day, it popped into my head. I kinda wanted it to be Jurassic Park but alas... it was actually a Disney movie. Aladdin was the first movie I remember seeing at the cinema!

[Embed For Use By Upgraded+]

It was made in 1992 so that means I must have only been five or six when I saw it! Man that was a lot of years ago. I remember going with my dad to the cinema that had just been built up the road from us. When it first opened the whole first week it did promotions on tickets for only £1 which is super cheap. Now it's between £8-£10 to see a film! I think my sister was there too but all I really remember was the darkness of the cinema and the flying carpet! Oh and the bright blue genie!

I've always had a fascination for Disney movies and loved watching them. Even as an adult I have them all on DVD and I don't watch them so much now but I have them in case I want to, or for the nephews, whichever works!

Aladdin was always one of my favourites though. I don't know if it's because it's one of the first ones I remember seeing but there was something about it that I loved and I could watch it over and over without tiring of it. I think the story is pretty good and taken from a fairy tale which works for me (perhaps it appeals to my inner child!) and the characters were great. I just always willed them to get together!

Prompt: Talk about a movie or television show that you feel has particularly strong writing. Forget the actors and directors and production value and special effects; what property dazzles you with the dialogue and storytelling?

It took me a while of thinking about this to come up with something. I think there are a lot of movies and probably TV series out there that have exceptional writing that really make the show, but I have to say I'm going with Harry Potter for this one. And as there are eight movies I'm going to differentiate and write about The Chamber of Secrets:

This I think, was one of the best Harry Potter movies for me and as it's still early in the series I picked this one. I was enthralled with the story when I first watched it. I think the story was really well done and the way it was worked into the movie was just as good. It had me captivated throughout.

Prompt: Are there any long-running shows you've seen every single episode of? No one-season wonders here; let's say a show has to have a run of at least 48 episodes to count. If you haven't seen every episode of a show, tell me about one you'd like to consider watching from beginning to end.

Yup! There are a few I've watched every single episode of. Not loads mind you, but the first one that came to mind when I read this prompt was Alias.

Anyone else ever seen this? The show ran for a total of five seasons from 2001-2006. I first saw an episode in around 2004 during a film studies class I was doing (wow that takes me back). I really enjoyed watching the first episode and meeting Sydney and beginning to get the jist of the show, then it was taken away. I'm sure it was that night when I went home that I googled the boxsets. They were only £10 each (some of them cheaper) and I couldn't help myself. I immersed myself in the world of Alias. I lost myself to Sydney Bristow and the tangled web of a life she wove. I was in awe of her. I mean, how could one person work at the CIA, hold down a job and go to college at the same time as maintaining good friendships and a solid relationship?! I wanted to be just like her!

I stayed with the show as it changed and moved on and found that my ritual was settling down when it was all quiet, usually on the floor, with a cuppa and either some popcorn or ice cream to keep me going. I loved every minute of it! I've watched it a few times since and I guess I will again too *Smile*

Prompt: What's the best adaptation of a book (or book series) you've seen?

I think I'm a little biased on this one since I have seen the movies hundreds of times! It has to be: The Lord of the Rings Trilogy!

Okay so as much as I love the books, they're not something I find altogether easy to read. I have read them a fair few times and I will read them a fair few times in years to come, but I have to say, I really think the movies are a good substitute. I absolutely love them. Every bit. Now I know they do deviate in some places but I think Jackson captured the realm of Middle Earth and all of its creatures with a fierce knowledge and likeness. The characters he chose as his main characters, the Fellowship, were just perfect and they all worked so well together to fulfill their roles and their characters. My favourite character throughout the series is Aragorn. It does help that he's a very pretty man with long hair ( *Laugh* ) but I think his story line is amazing too. That's not to say I don't like the main story line of the ring being destroyed either!

I just think these films have so much to give and I find that if I haven't watched them in a while and go back I find myself going, 'ah' how did I miss that or oooh I forgot how much I remembered that bit! I think there's something for everyone in these films!

Prompt: What's the worst movie you've ever seen?

When I saw this prompt, I smiled. Have you ever watched a horror movie so bad that it's good? No. Well, it's something I have been known to do (with friends) and this one tops the lot. Believe me. I first saw this when I was living in my student house a few years back now. I'd settled in with all my house mates to watch a few films and when this came on, none of us could believe it. I can't remember the exacts of it now but there was sure no stunning effects or even good acting and story line. If you like watching bad horrors, the Ice Cream Man is for you!

Prompt: What property (book, comic, toy, etc.) would you love to see adapted for the screen? Movie or TV, and why?

Wow, this is a tough one. I don't know why I didn't anticipate something like this coming up but I didn't, and alas, my brain appears to be fried...

Actually, saying that, there is something I'd like to see. It wouldn't exactly be aimed at my age range now but I read all of these books when I was a teen and I loved them, much preferring them to Goosebumps. Ever heard of Point Horror? I'm not sure a lot of people have. But I absolutely loved them. Think Goosebumps based in real life with people causing the killings. Check out one of the books here:

{link:http://www.amazon.co.uk/Beach-House-Point-Horror-Stine/dp/0590552481/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1394294805&sr=8-6&keywords=point+horror}

There are a lot of books within this Point Horror series and a lot of authors too. They may even still be going, who knows, but I outgrew them a while ago. I collected these books (still have them too) and I loved the realism they came with having the killers in real life. It was much more my preferred read, back then anyway. I think having some of these books made into a series would be brilliant. Not too gruesome of course, but a good way to ease teens into the horror series/genre of television.
