How did we turn back the clock of time and commit the same horrible crimes that were a a social norm before Rosa and Martin's time? Your thoughts about what's happening across the United States."

I'm probably going to piss a bunch of people off here because this is a touchy subject and I don't know all the solutions, nor even all the issues. What I have to ask is why can't we all just be what we are: human? Why do we have to segregate our selves by race and then get angry is someone uses the wrong term about us doing so. I was raised to call African-Americans "Blacks". I even thought calling them "Blacks" was wrong. I always asked the same thing. Why do we have to call this group "Black", this group "Hispanic" and this group "Asian"? Why can't we just call them "Human"? After all they are human beings! I mean we go and we hold "Black History Month", "Black Entertainment Television", "Black this", "Black that". "African-American this", "African-American that". We are creating the divisions and causing the tensions we raise so much hell about and it doesn't make sense to me. You don't hear me going around here saying that I am "European-American" and demanding that people identify me as such. I'm an American. It's that simple. I was born in Parkersburg WV so I am an American. If you were born in the United States then you too are an American. Why create a division and including yourself in it, then get angry because you feel somebody profiled you because of the identity you claim?

To the police officer who killed the man, I pray that they convict you of first degree murder and incite the hate crimes laws against you! If they do convict you of murder one and incite the hate crimes laws against you I hope it results in a lethal injection for you. I hate to see you die but if you committed a murder incited by race then you deserve to die. I have no pity or tolerance for hatred. Jesus said we are to love others and treat them as we would have them treat us. I would ask you sir if you would have wanted your victim to put his knee in your neck and hold it there until you died? If that is what you wanted then you did as Jesus commanded. Since I doubt you wanted to die, you are guilty of at least violating Jesus' commandment.

On the other hand I also cannot tolerate hatred that is being directed toward the bigots either. The rioting is ridiculous. People act like animals and burn down buildings, steal, tear, loot, and destroy and then wonder why they are treated like animals. I am not a violent man. I abhor violence and I do anything to avoid it. I guarantee you however that if somebody tried to burn down my place of residence and rob, terrorize, and destroy my home I am going to do whatever is necessary to stop them from doing so. If that means shooting them I would do so.

Minorities have always had it hard in this country. I know Blacks were frequently slaves two hundred years ago. I hated the idea of slavery when I was a child and I still hate it today. It was an institution of evil and it still is. No human being has the right to own another human being. Period. Then to treat others as second-class citizens or to show intolerance and hatred is just as evil. Period. I understand the anger. I agree with the anger. What I disagree with is the violence in response to the anger. We have a justice system. Let it do it's job. A police officer killed a man. It looked to be a racially motivated crime. Let the District Attorney take it. There is a term for it. We call it "due process."

Blog City image small "Prompt: What books are on your summer reading list?"

"Biblical Interpretation". It's my textbook for the summer. Of course I will read what ever papers and books are necessary for the completion of writing assignments.
