Today’s prompt is going to be challenging, but I love a challenge. When I was a bride, over 58 years ago… I can hardly believe I just wrote that! I’ll try again now I’ve recovered! When I was a bride it was expected that within the first year there would be the possibility or I should say it would be likely there’d be a baby on the way. Nowadays young women enjoy much more freedom to choose when to start a family. It seems to be in their mid-thirties when the desire to have a baby becomes strong. By the time my husband and I were that age our family of three were all at school and I was back at work having spent their formative years at home. Todays couples don’t have the luxury of living on one wage with the rising cost of living, plus their desire to have everything right now. Children today would feel as if their parents actually mistreat them if they didn’t have every battery reliant gadget on the market. The screen culture isn’t limited to the young though. We are all hooked on screens, whether it be television or computer screens, and the electrons from the light emitting diodes, more commonly known as LED are bouncing about on the screen you are probably reading my blog entry on today. |
Prompt:What are five things you believe about yourself? This is a difficult prompt. The things I believe to be true aren’t necessarily how others perceive me. Anyway I’ll attempt to find five things I believe to be true about myself. Here goes: 1. I believe I am loyal, certainly to my family. As for friendships I’ve never considered myself a great friend. That’s not to say if any friend asked for help I wouldn’t be there in a heartbeat. No, it’s that catching up, meeting for coffee, going shopping sort of girl friend dates, then I’ll admit if I can wriggle out of them then I will. And that’s the truth. 2. I’d never be unfaithful to my husband. That is and always was set in stone. 3. I believe I have a really great sense of humour. We have had so many dramas to overcome during our lives I don’t think we would have survived without my sense of humour which can make most people relax and see the funny side. Even if sometimes it’s a black humour. 4. I am stubborn and strong, perhaps not physically anymore but emotionally. I don’t crumple under adversity. 5. Im a true Cancerian. I show my hardened shell to the world but I have a very soft underbelly which I only allow a few to see. |
