PROMPT September 12th

Write about something you need to get off your chest. What’s pressing on your mind?

I wouldn’t know where to start there are so many concerns bothering me at the moment. So many of my friends have become grandparents this year and when I see these beautiful innocent children I have to wonder what sort of world they are coming into.
I’m usually an optimist and always view life as a glass half full, however this year has shook my confidence. I think it’s our world leader’s actions, or non actions as the case may be, which has my optimism fading.
Climate change has taken a back seat through the focus being totally on COVID-19. Yet nothing has changed in that regard. Temperatures are still rising and we see the affects of that as California burns as it did last year. We in Australia will be facing the same in a few weeks when the summer arrives.
We’ve become accustomed to see most of the World’s peoples wearing masks. What a horrifying scenario, isn’t it? And yet it’s becoming the norm. If we’d seen such a thing as the future a few years ago we’d have been horrified and yet we now accept it.
I’m happy to be the age I am. I just feel for those little ones just starting out in life.
There! I feel better now.
