Psalm 90:10, "The length of our days is seventy years—or eighty if we are strong....
Three Score and Ten the Introduction,

Well here we go, After 50 years I am going to take another attempt at writing. The first time was the Palmer writers correspondence school in 1969. The writing will be not a book that will be written with the idea of being published, But will be a writing of thoughts unencumbered by possible publishing and monetary gain. This writing will be a hybrid of Journal and Reminisce. It is important to me that the writings are my true thoughts at the time, not influenced by any factor. The writing will try to explain how a 70 year old white, male USA citizen now relates to today's world. Is every oldest generation lost in their own world, that they aged into? What do I see, and feel as I age farther. I know I am not normal as in what this world today would consider normal. But I hope I am in the ball park writing the thoughts of a 70 year old. I hope for you to learn to know who I am, As I search for Who I am at 70+ This work will carry on until I am no longer able to think or write. This will be done on a nearly daily writing interwoven with a life's reminiscing. This writing has been in the planning for 10 plus years. and I have now made it to this starting point. This writing is dedicated to My Wife The Kitten, My family, My grand children, Lukas, Levi, Luis, Lydia and Sonora Pearl. I thank you God that you have allowed me to have your Three Score and Ten Time.

It has been hot this week and the heat is dragging me down. My motivation to do things is still there but the energy is not. It was nice to fish with you guys over the weekend. I sure am glad you caught some fish and seemed to have a good time. It always worries me that you will not catch fish.
It seems early this year that the garden is winding down, The Garlic, Shallots, Onions, Sweet Corn, Cauliflower, Strawberries, Black Raspberries, Romaine, Spinach, Cilantro, Oregano, Thyme, Basil, are harvested. Some potatoes are ready to dig, first cutting of Celery done. Now using Zucchini and Cucumbers for meals. It has been a blurr of a garden season, with vine crops, tomatoes and peppers and late potatoes to go.

Then there is the roofing of the garage. The so called roofer is gone. The roof is done and it looks satisfactory. I have never had such a difficult contracting project and there have been many over the years. This project was simple, It should have been a walk in the park. What did I learn, ask for references, check references. Grandsons when hiring a contractor do your Due Diligence before signing any agreement.

They are going to dig up the street boulevard tomorrow to put in a new water line to the house. More fun and games. I hope it goes well and things are restored soon after. I will be watching close

I guess I will be waiting for it to cool down here before going out fishing. We will be going north again in a week and hope to fish with my brother. I have not kept any fish for a while. I need to clean some fish now. I hope you are having a Blessed Day

Sorry about my tardiness in writing, I have just not been in the mood to write. So much going on, so much difficulty and complication in everything being done. Maybe it is age, just me. The roofer finally finished doing the garage. What a character, He had no help or money to do job. I had to feed him money all the way through project. The job done looks good but what aggravation.
We went north last Thursday. I did get the potatoes hilled, what was left of them after deer and potato beetles. I did manage to fish a bit. I caught some crappies and walleyes and bass. I kept none for eating.
Now I just got news of another circus here. They are going to change our water line here from lead to copper on Thursday the 29th. It will be more destruction to fix something that is not broke. On the plus side it is being done with city grant money. But the excitement never ends here in the south. I am so tired of what people today call progress. I am agitated, can you tell.
We will leave this Thursday for the north. I hope to see you Lukas and Levi and we catch some fish. Have a blessed week all of you.

Hello Grandkids
Wow, It has been over a week since I wrote to you last. How time does pass away when you are busy and old at the same time. I am agitated the roofer is supposed to be here now, another no show?, We shall see. I have never seen such ineptitude and disorganization. I just want him finished and gone. A word of warning guys. Be careful who you hire. Not all people are cut from the same cloth.

We are leaving for the north again today. i have not been able to get the potatoes hilled there. It is always to wet when we are there. I has to get done this time up. And I need to check out the lake I want to take you guys too when you come up. The channel into the lake was blocked last last year when I was there. The bog moved and closed it off. It is a special family lake that has been fished by us for three generations. I hope I can get you into the lake. It is a good remote fishing lake.

The garden has been doing well, But everything seems early this year. A lot of harvesting has been done which will help with the water bill.

Well the roofer just showed up. Now will they get done, It is not starting out well.

I will write again when we return from the north. Did you guys miss that row of garden weeds.
Have a Blessed Day All

We are getting ready to leave for the Northwoods Haven. it is always nice to get there and good to return. There are no distractions up there. just a feeling of peace. I need the less stressful environment at this time. The fellow who is supposed to be roofing has been a real disappointment. I am not sure he know what end is up. I made a mistake hiring him. I will be so glad to I hope get the garage roof done. A simple garage roof is a slam dunk, No rocket science. He is supposed to show earlier tomorrow morning and work till it gets to warm. He may bring some help. I just do not understand how he operates a business.
Up north this trip I will finish planting the perennial flowers. I hope it will not be to wet to hill the potatoes. They are up and should be ready to hill. We shall see. I hope I can get some quality fishing time in. It has been hard to find time to fish down here. It seems I am not as enthusiastic as I once was. It has been to warm to comfortably fish in a kayak. The heat gets me know and tires me out. I am happy that you Lukas now have a good size trout under your belt. I think the you are the one now hooked. I will wait for you and your brother Levy to get a nice bass boat and take me fishing, It won't be to many more years.
We are working mornings and evenings in garden here. We are harvesting Peas, Black Raspberries, Romaine Lettice and today our first Eggplant. It was good for a change. I still have some chores to do. Soooo I will write of the goings on in the north when we return.
Guys turn out that light, and close the Chicken House Door. The rest of you along with the grandkids have a Blessed Evening.

Hello Grandkids and ........
I know it has been two weeks since I have written. I am trying to keep a lot of balls in the air. I hate it when I drop a ball. The ball that has dropped is the garage roofing. I just can not get him to do the job. I am into him for the materials so I will have to play his game. But I will get my turn at bat. It seems I come into the house down here and I am too tired to think and write. In the north there is no internet service. Which is fine with me to get away from the media and phone. There is no phone service there other then a no go land line service I do not want. I was happy to see some of you Grandsons on Fathers Day. The best gift you can give me or any older person is a piece of your time. I hope you know that. For the daughters and Sons in Laws I know you are busy, and have busy lifestyles. Your time is important Thank You for sharing some with me.
We took the Little dog down this week for his summer cut. It was a new place for us to go. I guess they did Okay. But the Little dogs looks even littler now. He will go in again the very end of October. That little dog has become the therapy of our life. There is always time and treats for Little Dog.
The garden is doing better, We got some real rain. The grass greened up again. We have ended strawberry picking here. We now we are picking Black Raspberries. I started Pea Picking tonight. I love fresh picked, Buttered, salted Garden Peas. They will be for dinner tomorrow. We do not freeze a lot of peas. We could never have garden room to freezer a years worth. and also it gets to hot down here too fast for good peas.
As for you Grandsons Be Blessed, Keep your garden weeded, Don't take any wooden nickels, and Close the Chicken Coop Door
As for you readers have Blessed Evening

It looks like I have an earlier opportunity to write, It is close to 6:00pm and it is still too hot to pick Strawberries. They the strawberries are fading fast. It will be a short picking season here. What we had early was very nice. The picking will start in the north soon. We will leave for the north early on Monday. That is not my normal but I want to get back here on Thursday. We stayed here this week thinking the roofer would make an appearance like he said. It was dry and some what cooler. He did not get here. So we will have a lot to do when we get to the north.

At this time I feel I have lost my focus on why I write this blog journal. That focus needs to be on writing to you my Grand Sons and daughters. You my grandsons and daughters are my legacy and the legacy of all of our ancestors. I am writing to you so you will know who and what I was. And that may help you know and your offspring know who you are and why. Grandfathers and great grandfathers are your bridge to the past and your past now gone family. I need to feel I have left you something of importance, more important the material things. You Grands are the sparkle left in my eyes. You my children will never know how important the grandkids are until you have your own. I am going to be happy to see some of you this weekend. I have seen you little in the last 18 months. I am afraid a so called zoom just does not do it for me.

At this moment in time I feel some what down and introverted. I get that way when I do not hear the dogs barking. When I can slow up a bit. Maybe that is why I say so busy. I am scared to stop. If I stop then what, I do not know what to do in that case. I have run so long that to stop is like being a fish out of water. For me it is good to hear the dogs somewhat even if faintly.
The sun is going down so I should be now able to pick strawberries.

To all have a Blessed Evening and Grand Sons close that Chicken House door.

It is nearly 8:00 pm and I am just now getting to writing an entry. I was going to do this this morning. We are so dry I spend a lot of time watering the vegetable garden and flowers. The garden does look good no big failings yet.

We were going to go north this week but we are staying here for the garage roofer to get here and do his roofing. He cancelled out today, a cooler day. He is having truck problems. I am beginning to think I bet on the wrong horse. The roof is not leaking, but I need to coordinate all of the summers activities and still get the roof done.

As for our last Sunday Flea Market it was a good day. All went well, we sold some things. We set up and pulled down without any fire works, always a good thing. But I sure get tired. This spring and it is still spring has been difficult, and it should not be. It seems like I am out of sync with my work. The days are slipping past me. I have always worked to accomplish something positive every day. But that is getting more difficult. Maybe it is the early heat and dryness. I was fearful of a Hot dry spring summer all last winter. A hot dry weather pattern is the worst for me.

I hope the roofer shows up tomorrow. He is not a young man. I do not envy him roofing in this weather. I should not be too bad tomorrow. The I need to do some weeding in the morning. I was hoping to fish in the later afternoon, evening if it is not too warm. We shall see. I have not been fishing for a few weeks now, Too busy, and too hot. I hope to go again soon.
I must have a hay field for a yard up north. We need to get up there early next week.

Have a Blessed Evening, I am starting to ramble

Three Score and Ten + Day 297

Hello, It's me again after a week. We have had a very active week. getting ready in the heat for the Sunday Flea Market. We had a successful Market and we did sell some things. Then we hustled up north on Monday and started the planting potatoes process and finished at 11;00 on Tuesday. We planted 20 pounds of seed potatoes. If all goes well we should eat this coming winter. We got seven tenths inch of rain at 6:00. So we just snuck them in. The ground was just workable. We drove back on Wednesday and did some garden watering here. It is very hot and dry here, No rain, With No good chances on the horizon. I could write more often if I was not watering garden so much. I hate to see the water bill down here.

Next up load the van for our Flea market this coming Sunday. It is at a location we only do twice a year. It is an hour away and we need to be there by 6:00 to set up. So it is a early rising. Then we will not do a Flea Market until July 4th.

Then On Monday I need to take the van in for oil change and air conditioner service. The Little Dog gets warm riding without air conditioning, The humans also. We really run the wheels off the van. It is a Town and Country. This has to be the 5-6th Grand Caravan or Town and Country we have had over the last 25 years. I could not think of not having one. We buy privately, pay cash and run them till there is no more to run. Then we start over, works for us. They normally are with us 3-4 years.
I hope I can write again soon, before seven days have gone by. if you are wondering why I do not write from the north, It is because there is no cell or internet service. That suits me just fine, a real get away. Stay Cool and Blessed.

Yes, I am still with you. I am tired and not thinking too straight. I just lost track and numbered my June calendar wrong. It is warm today as you most likely know. I get tired and sleepy in the heat. I really have to push myself on days like this. Sure glad I do not have tp mow hay anymore in the heat or get up into a hot silo to level it off. Now that was hot. I did finish planting the garden down here to day, Melons, Zucchini, and Cucumbers. I am glad to have it all planted, and it is looking good.

Tomorrow we do our early month shopping. There is next to nothing to pick up from the auction house. I guess I am just to cheap to win bids Or everyone else foolish and has too much money. Then I will load the van for the Sunday Flea Market. It will be warm but we are shaded from the sun. I hope there are people there wanting to spend money. We have a lot to sell.

Then I come back and quick unload the van and get ready to head north early on Monday. I still do not have the potatoes planted up there. It does not rain a lot at one time. But just enough to keep the ground to wet to plant. I think I see a planting window Monday, Tuesday. It is time to get it done. We came back yesterday from the north. We did get the lawn mowed, It was like a hay field. The strawberries got weeded which is a plus. And to top it off there was a meal of fish caught.
.
It would have been nice if spring weather would have stayed longer. But I see light at the end of the planting season. I hope you have a great weekend at what every you may do.

We got back from a short trip north yesterday. between rains I did get the Blue Berries planted. The first time it Thunder stormed we covered the bed with a large canvass. We were then able to plant the next day. Then it was a soaker the next day. That is the way it is up there, The weather is always difficult. There was some snow when we left. Tonight up there it is supposed to drop to 30 degrees. We will go back up tomorrow and try to sneak the potatoes in and finish mowing grass. I did get the lawn mowers going this last visit. We will be up there until Wednesday or Thursday depending on weather and work.

It is not much better down here weather wise. Tonight 34 degrees. I will but a cover on the peppers, eggplant and basil. And it is now a cold wet in the garden to work with. We really did need the rain. But A nice warm rain would have been better. See there I go with the farmer weather attitude. But I am glad for the rain.

When we return this coming week there will be Flea markets to get prepared for. We will have Flea Markets two Sundays in a row. It is going to be a very hectic period. I will keep you posted as I proceed along.
Have a Blessed Day
