Apology

I really must beg your pardon,
but this morning is such a hard one
that I’m beaten by prompts too pretty,
and end up just feeling sh*tty.

You see my mind is occupied,
though to clear it I swear I have tried,
Small Talk made me think of starlings,
and they are to me such darlings.

Note: Really couldn’t go with the prompts today. Sorry. But I was faced with two alternatives - duck today’s poem or write about something else. I chose the latter.
