As I Imagined But…

Significant places assume a greatness
relative to the history they hosted.
Reality reduces them, shrinking to fit
our awe inside a smaller package.

Trafalgar Square is tiny, a mere model
of the dreams its fame fostered,
and in Dallas the same is true,
the Grassy Knoll less than a hill.
