Ocean

Splashing at the edge of life,
we play in the shallows,
deaf to the ocean’s strife,
the abyss of endless fallow.

Not for us the crushing deep
and twinkling monster’s lights,
cascading dust that lulls to sleep,
in the realm of infinite night.
