Hm.. Talk like a kid. Does baby-talk to the husband count? Seriously, if anyone should not be writing for kids, it's the lady who doesn't have any and doesn't like them. However, I adored Ann McAffrey's Pern series and love the whole simple story, innocently-told idea. I don't remember her characters getting all angsty, and none of her books were in first person. Ender's Game is also totally brilliant. Those are the books I admire and want to write (fantasy-wise).
