I Don't Hear Hope Laughing
By: Jack_M
Inspiring and Encouraging!
This piece has a really gentle nature to it. I fully expected to look deeper and see the author staring back at me from my computer. He, of course, would be wearing an exquisite looking cardigan and chewing on the end of his inspirational pipe.
That, of course, did not actually happen. I was simply lead through a lovely discourse about the ever-present and eternal hope.
This is the most emotionally charged flash fic I have ever read. You have so accurately captured the reactions that occur when you are notified of a death out of the blue.
The inclusion of the part about the last words he said to his daughter was a brilliant touch.
Beware people death needs no reservation make sure all your tables are in order.
Ah, love, we all long for it. We all strive to capture the meaning... the essence...the feeling that it evokes.
This poem has done it!
Your choice of words has created a conduit to amplify the emotions you are so blessed to feel.
"Knowing I'm loved makes me glow inside,
And the love by you only makes it better.
I know I can count on you for anything,
Only you can release my soul's fetters."
The emotion surround the piece and envelops the reader. The imagery warms the heart and entices the readers soul to dance.
The subtle curves in the design of the poem support the voice tone and message beautifully.
You are a fortunate lady to have experienced such a love and a gifted writer to be able to share it so eloquently.
From the first word the reader is ensnared and enthralled. What is this fantastic journey you have set me out on? he thinks as he scrolls further and further into the world that you so skillfully construct.
The scenes are true to life. It is comparable to H.G. Wells, if I did not know that this was sci-fi I would be scared.
The characters are multidimensional. They demand and skillfully capture the readers attention. You manage to avoid all of the pitfalls that swallow up some 90% of the sci-fi authors available commercially.
Your style is straight forward and uncompromising. There is an authority to your words that gives the reader a sense of comfort.
My favorite part is when... Hubble is describing Solomons blessing to Yigel and the look on Yigel's face as he examines the skull.
I would strongly recommend this to anyone who enjoys a stimulating read. This one makes you think while entertaining the muse in your soul.
My only suggestion for improvement is a fresh set of disinterested eyes to flesh out the typos and missing words that an interested readers eye fills in automatically.
This piece is jam packed with emotion. It drips from every word. The pain, the sadness and the relief all compete for the readers attention
This is a moment that no one wants to have to experience let alone retell. You have managed to do so with a grace that gives the moment the dignity that it so rightly deserves.
My heart goes out to you, your family and your newly enthroned Angel. I hope that you continue to bask and be comforted by his peaceful heavenly glow.
This essay has thrown me straight back to college. I found myself remembering my courses in Logic and Philosophy with great joy.
This is an age old problem. This line of reasoning has always seemed the most plausible to me. I mean how could anyone think that we are all there is. How could anyone seriously posit that Humans are as good, as intelligent and strong as it gets.
This is a must read for all the intellectuals among us. Those among us who are sure we have all the answers.
I suggest, after reading this wonderful essay, that maybe, we do not even truly grasp the question.
It is not hard to understand why this piece caught the eye of those at the Writer's Cramp.
The story is well developed. It has a wonderfully familiar tone to it. As you read it you can't help but feel that you're sitting in your best friends kitchen or workshop.
The imagery is spot on. As the bees swarm the soon to be "happy couple" I found myself making sure I knew where my Epi-pen was.
The subject matter is universal. Everyone has a wedding story. This one is a must read for every
bride and bridegroom that thinks they had it bad.
An undeniably deserving winner of the Writer's Cramp,
and a superbly entertaining read!!!!
The piece grabs the reader from the very first few words. The metaphore of the canvas is developed to perfection as you name off color after color as they whiz by the train.
The imagery is absolutely impeccable. It matches exactly what I remember flying by the window of the Spirit of New Orleans as we traveled toward Atlanta.
The characters are well developed. The nuiances of the culture of India are well preserved and the reader finds himself wanting to know more of these Majiks.
Overall this is a charming and enchanting begining to a tale that I am sure will continue to intrigue and enthrall the readers. Excellent Work!
It is written in a very pleasing style that sort of takes the reader by the hand and accompanies them into this new world of your creation.
The characters are believable and well developed. I am looking forward to learning more about the inner workings of Robert. He seems to be holding back quite a bit. I am afraid he will not be able to keep that up with Kira around.
For me the portion about the affair is somewhat predictable, cliche maybe. Please don't misunderstand it is well written and quite provocative. It's just so.... you know the wonderful selfless man who considers himself undeserving of the rafishing beauty who is actually screwing him every chance she gets.
I might also suggest that in the prologue you take a little more time to develop the large crate with the child in it. It was ok but I think it would be better if you strung us along a bit longer. Make us really wonder.
Overall an excellent work thus far. Can't wait to see where you will go from here.
Way to go Dad! Claire is one awesome little poet. Her parents should be very proud. She obviously has a very good sense of self, a well developed sense o right and wrong and a talent for putting words togerther. Just Awesome!
No need to worry. How could anyone be anything but gentle with your heart. How sweet, how innocent, how honest!! It's a beautiful piece doll! Keep writing you have a gift that's best when shared!
