Today was shaping up to be a pretty good day... until I arrived at class. Late, as usual, I wander in and my friend gestures to the whiteboard. There's a big message scrawled across it "All work due today!!!" Uhhhh... excuse me?! Yes, that's right - they decided to change the due date without giving prior warning. Now this made me very angry. I've been working hard on my catalogue to get it finished in time, so I could continue to work hard on the next assignment that was due next Thursday. Yes, next Thursday. Not today. Not tomorrow. Next Thursday. They set the due date ages ago. I sat there bewildered, fuming and slightly panicked (because I'd only done one page of the 12-page brochure assignment) and asked the teacher, not mincing my words, why things had to be handed in today when the due date was set for next week. He told me the coordinator had told him that and to bring it up with her. So, I did. She's also a teacher of mine, so when I went to the other room I found her there and asked her the same question. She told me it was because all classwork had to be in by tomorrow so the teachers could have a chance to mark it before the end of term, which is next Friday. Umm - so why didn't they tell us this earlier and set the due dates in accordance with this??! She told me that if I needed more time, I'd have to bring it up with each individual teacher. *sigh* ![]() However, after much whinging and complaining, I got stuck into it and managed to do heaps. I should be able to finish the 12-page brochure tomorrow. But then, at 5:30 (I stayed until 6pm - until past dark!) I discovered that there is MORE work for me to do... things I never even received. I was given until Monday 5pm, so I suppose I can live with that. Although, to reinforce the unorganised factor, this teacher in particular showed me all the things I needed to do that weren't marked off on his little sheet and one of them I'd already done. I told him that and he said he didn't have a mark for it. So I said, fine, I'll go home and get it to show you. And he said to do just that. So I've found it and I have done it, with a grade and all! Why the hell didn't he write it down? Gawd. And that is the end of my rant. It also occurred to me that this very day could be the reason I slept in until 1:23pm yesterday. Maybe my body was anticipating all this stress and anxiety and decided to get a headstart on all the sleep I'll be in desperate need of after I eventually finish this. ![]() |
I woke up this morning, glanced over at the clock and did a double take. It said 1:23pm. I squinted. Where's the other 1? Surely it's meant to say 11:23. Confused, I scramble out of bed, go to the kitchen and look at the oven clock. 1:23. Wow, shite... I definitely slept in this time! It was my day off class today so it's not like I had to be anywhere, but 1pm?? That's insane! Am I sick? I went to bed at 1am the night before, but still. I was knocked out for a full 12 hours! I spent the rest of the day wondering how on earth I could've slept that long. I would've been woken up if someone else had been home, but they'd all left long ago. It's unbelievable. Save for when I'm sick, I've never slept in over 12pm regardless of when I went to bed. So, now, it's past one in the morning and it only feels like about 11pm. ![]() Having said that though, I managed to get a good lot of work done today. I really only started my day at about 3pm - I looked outside at 5pm and it was getting dark! So weird, I only just got up a few hours before and it's already night again. I was going to post up a photo of weeds for Trish and Mel's 'Week of Weeds' but I'll have to save that for tomorrow because it's already late enough... |
It's really cold. I'm sitting here with my sister's fingerless gloves on, looking just a little homeless. ![]() And my fingers this year are particularly cold. Last year it was my feet. This year, my fingers and knuckles are so icy cold all the time. Even with these fingerless gloves, the little bits sticking out are icy. Besides all that, it has occurred to me numerous times that I should endeavour to get up a little earlier and catch some good fog action with the camera. But, as you may have guessed, I get cold and haven't yet been able to launch myself out of the cosy cocoon of my bed. I have difficulty doing it in the warmer months, so I don't know where I got this idea that I could manage it in the cold. I'm going to head off to bed now so maybe I can actually be in bed before midnight for once. So then maybe I'll be able to get out of bed on time in the morning! Oh, I did eventually manage to work out the DVD thing and made the video and uploaded it to YouTube. You can view the final result here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=paFlIBY550Y ![]() |
BLAH. Yes, blah. I'm so annoyed with myself. I've spent the past weekend (four days in total, give or take the hours I went to work and slept) trying to figure out how to rip DVDs onto my computer and make clips out of them. Sounds really easy, doesn't it? Well, I thought so too. Well, actually, I knew it would be a little on the difficult side but I didn't anticipate it taking this long to figure out! I researched and researched and after a whole bunch of downloading programs that didn't work properly, I finally got two that seem to do what I want them to. I got the ripping part sorted and was able to get clips, but now I can't convert them to a useable format without the end of each clip cutting off! And sound - don't even mention sound. ARGH! It's so frustrating.... but I'm so determined! I HAVE to figure it out. I know I can do it, it's just a matter of fixing the problems. I've signed up to this forum, which should be able to help me - except for the fact that all new users have to wait five freakin days before they can post! Sheesh! So now I just have to sit and be patient. Besides, I have heaps of work due at the end of June that I haven't worked on at all. This whole weekend has been my ultimate procrastination scheme or something. I've managed to waste FOUR ENTIRE DAYS doing nothing but this. I've really got to get back into my assignments. I'm already behind. Oh, and did I mention this little project of mine has involved two computers? That's a lot of tugging out a USB, jumping up, turning around, going to the desk behind me, plugging the USB in - and then repeat all over again. This main computer doesn't have a DVD drive - which bummed me out for awhile on Friday evening after I had gotten the idea to make the clips before promptly realising I didn't actually have a DVD drive................. then at 1am Friday night (or Saturday morning, whichever you prefer) a lightbulb went off over my head and I got out of bed and went to find the laptop that my sister had given me ("borrow indefinitely") to check if it had a DVD drive. And you guessed it! It did! And so began my best procrastinating work. GAWD! What is WRONG with me?! And then I texted my so-called best friend who I haven't seen since last August to see if she could catch up.... and nope. Still too busy. She says she worked 12 hours that day and she's been so busy and her and her mother are going to open their second gym in the next couple months. Okay, sure, so she's busy - but surely she doesn't work 12 hours a day every single day and couldn't possibly find ANY time to take a break. Isn't that illegal or something? It makes me so angry. I don't want the friendship to end but it looks like that inevitable. It sucks. And hurts. I burst into pathetic little tears before. All with the DVD thing not working and then her not wanting to catch up........ this is why I opened with BLAH! And ending with it! ![]() ![]() ![]() |
I'm having a grand old time watching Gilmore Girls. I've seen them all before but it makes no difference, I can re-live it over and over again. And I'm feeling all warm and fuzzy and lovey dovey because I just finished Season 4 and started on Season 5, and it's just when Lorelai and Luke get together. *sigh* They make such a good match and the way he holds her.... and.... *sighs and clasps hands to chest* Makes me wanna go out and buy a puppy or something. ![]() And now I'm trawling through YouTube watching random interviews with Lauren Graham (who plays Lorelai, for those who don't know the show) and she's just as funny in real life. She's a lot like the character she plays actually! And Luke - *sigh* - he may be getting on a bit in age, but damn, he's still pretty hot. He hasn't seem to have done many interviews though, which is why I'm watching Lauren Graham ones instead. Because, seriously, if I had the option I'd go for the Luke ones. This kind of thing always puts me a weird mood. All girly and squealy (and don't think I didn't squeal when Lorelai and Luke kissed for the first time). I'm sad the show's ended, but it's okay.... I can watch the DVDs anytime I like! ![]() |
I'm going to see Josh Groban!!!! I'm going to see Josh Groban!!!! I'm going to see Josh Groban!!!! In concert!!!! ![]() ![]() I'm so excited! It almost didn't happen too. I completely forgot they went on sale this morning, and then my sister called me in class and said it was sold out. What? How? Apparently, the Sydney Opera House concert sold out in five minutes and Melbourne was close behind. They opened a second night and that sold pretty quick too, but we got centre seats in the balcony, a couple rows back. Should be a decent view, closer than Westlife and that was definitely bearable. We probably won't be allowed cameras in for this one though. Maybe though, it depends on Josh I think. The venue always says no, but the artist can override. That's how everyone was allowed cameras for Westlife. Josh was pricey though - we paid $99AUS for balcony seats and for Westlife that would get you the front row. To get front row for Josh, it's $199. ![]() But anyway - YAYAYAYAYAY!!! Excitement! ![]() ![]() |
So, for a joke, I signed up for this semi-dating/Myspace wannabe site. My friend is on it and reckons she has a ball, so I think 'why not? It might be fun.' And oh, fun it is. Hilarious, in fact. I haven't had this much fun since I signed up for Myspace. But not fun, as in I'm having the best time of my life, I want to marry the place fun, but fun as in I can't believe these people have no life and can't write correct English - and it's oddly enjoyable to mess with their minds fun. I didn't think I was getting any love for awhile there, but soon the messages of sincerity came flooding in. What follows may just be your light entertainment for the day. By the way, I called myself Molly. Just for kicks. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Got to give you a giggle though. And no need to worry, I lied about every aspect of my life. ![]() |
I was trapped in class today. Yes, trapped. By a man with a gun who held my teacher against the wall with a knife.... and then the Man of Brawn appeared suddenly and came to her rescue before bravely scooping me up and out the room................![]() Okay, no. That's just my very, very active imagination. ![]() I was only trapped by rain. I wanted to leave at about 3pm, looked out the window and it's raining. My friends had already left, bravely tackling the rain. Me, however, decided to wait it out for a break in the grey skies because my car was ten minutes away and I'd left my umbrella in it, and I didn't want to get my books wet. So I waited. And waited. And waited some more. I managed to get some more work done. Finally, it seemed to have eased at about 4:30pm. Frantically, I pack up all my stuff and make a run for it. I get outside..... and it starts raining again. Like it knew I was coming. So I go anyway and walked ten minutes in the rain, my books tucked awkwardly under my jumper, my hair stuck fast to my face. Ugh. After awhile, I got the giggles. ![]() Then the drive home was a nightmare. Rain and cars and bright lights everywhere, windscreen wipers going like their life depended on it. I had my concentration face on the whole way home and by the time I got there I was absolutely whacked. I don't mind driving in the rain, in fact, I did my license test in the same conditions, but you do need to concentrate and when you're already tired, that takes a lot out of you. But anyway, I made it and here I am! And now I'm off to see Pirates of the Caribbean 3, which I hear goes for 3 hours. Thankfully, we're going to the nice cinemas with the comfier chairs, so it should okay. Unless I fall asleep of course.... |
*runs in and bursts into tears* Not one comment? Should I put the ants in a harsher light? Eh. I do believe WdC has officially died. I see tumbleweed and it's not even the weekend yet! WHYYYYYYY????? Unfair! Just as I get properly into it, with friends and the whole package, everyone else gets up and buggers off. I wrote in my blog for a about a year with just Scarlett reading (bless, love ya) and now we're back to the same old, same old. Alright, I'll stop whinging and whining. But you know...... it just sucks. And I admit, I didn't reply to everyone's blogs I normally do lately, but I did a few... I suppose I just ran out of time. I've got the Week of Cheer to do everyday (and I got 15 people this week - that takes time!) and six major projects. That's my excuse, what's yours? ![]() What else happened recently? Not much. Just working on the projects. Got my friend Kali (who is now officially the best ever friend a girl could ever ask for) to take some "scene" pictures for me so I can put them on the back of the DVD cover and the flyer. She even did some ones with her looking all terrified keeping in theme with the storyline. She's awesome ("can I keep her, Mummy, can I?!" ![]() ![]() |
We have an ants plague in our kitchen. Those tiny black ones. The little buggers are running everywhere. I also made the discovery that I'm not the most talented ant cleaner-up-erer. In fact, I'm terrible at it. It was no classes day today (thank GOD) so I'm home all alone. At 2pm, I finally decide I should eat lunch, go out to get some and find there are ants everywhere. With bread on the table! Closed up and all, but still, how unhygenic! I tried to ignore it and move all the edibles elsewhere, but to no avail. There were just there and crawling everywhere and when I went to start the kettle.... one crawled up my hand! I squealed like a little girl and promptly flicked it off. Then I decided the situation needed to be dealt with. I bravely grabbed the kitchen cloth, wetted it and started wiping. "Oh - easy!" I hear you say. No, no.... they don't die! You'd think something that size would drown instantly or die from shock when you swept it up into a wet cloth, but no, they just keep on struggling and then get all caught up in the fibres of the cloth. And to make matters worse, they could see me coming! I'm convinced of it! A number of times, when I went to wipe the bench, I saw them literally stop in their paths and then start running mega-fast in the opposite direction. I started to get really annoyed and then when the words "oh just die already!!" came out my mouth.... my annoyance turned to shock as I realised what a monster I was. All the poor little loves wanted was some food and shelter, and if our kitchen was that place..... then so be it. Until someone finds a trapped ant in their toast tomorrow morning, and then the war is ON! |
