Dear Friend:

This is not a Blog about writing! (I already have one of those.)

This is a blog about a journey I am taking with illness. I have recently been diagnosed with Cancer. My goal is honest therapy as I progress through, and beyond this new reality in my life. I hope that, somewhere along the way you will find some words that will help you too.

While this is, in fact, an interactive Blog, I hope that you will scroll slowly down this page. For you see, the front of this Blog IS my journey. The entries are conversations that are held along the journey.Yes, there is a lot on it--before actually getting to the Blog entries. But, I hope that by the objects and words which appear before the Blog itself, you might come to understand just a little bit about me, and my journey, and some truly amazing friends who have agreed to journey with me. I hope that you, too, will choose to accompany me on my walk--through the Valley.

I took this survey and find it a topic of interest. It seems to have been swept under the rug, for you don't hear too much on it...it just seems sort of hush hush. Is it because people do not care...or feel they can not win...don't know!
I personally feel it is illegal...I feel it is an invasion of privacy. Why not hire more police officers since we have so much unemployment...recruit people and put them to work.
And well...rambling here...I will place this in my favorites and come back to visit.
Love your image of the Christ! You are such a beautiful soul I see by your image...this cancer need not win...but only if you allow it, and I feel you will find strength to win. God is giving you that!
I hope you have changed your eating habits...so much food now holds chemicals that can be so harmful. As I understand it..Essiac is said to be good for cancer and can be found in health food stores.
I am wishing you beautiful moments~

Such a beautiful state Tennessee is! I've been there many times and even thought of it as a place to settle down. I love the seasons change with the array of colors within the trees so abundant. Happy that you received those moments to experience such a Wow moment! Something to remember for sure.

I mean this is not a state or area of the state to be totally wow'd by. Phoenix was like that for seasonal change. Phoenix had no seasonal change, let's face it - but they had nature to WOW ya.

I have worked in the Law and she is not just blind but deaf dumb and mute. I have seen judges whose bigotry was out there for everyone to hear and see. I knew lawyers who did drugs, cheated on their spouses and were corrupt. I know exactly how bent our laws can be, and how elusive justice is for many. All that aside, I also know human behavior. I know given the opportunity to seek vengence themselves, many would do just that. Government assisted suicide - murder - however you want to label it - is what it is. An ends to a means. Brutal, violent, ruthless. But it does the job. If we put all murders, pedophiles, rapists and other assorted criminals on a desert island, would society feel safer? Oh, wait they did that in England didn't they? History shows us that killing the criminal does not deter crime at all. But as long as this society is indifferent to changing themselves internally for the better then we can just defer things like killing to our government. They have gotten really good at it. Sounds like I'm sitting on the proverbial fence doesn't it? Nah. I just don't think the problem is crime or criminals. I think the problem is human indifference and lax morals, lazy minds and weak souls. Other than that I just love em - don't you?

EarlyHours has a point... this concept of indignation on the behalf of others can easily get out of hand. Few, if handed a gun, could kill someone even if that person had taken the life of a loved one. Forgiveness is as humor a quality as vengeance.

My main problem with state sanctioned murder is that too many innocent people are executed based on someone pointing a vengeful finger and saying, j'accuse... We don't need to bring up racism or class or the percentage of minorities executed. "White Privilege" means those who receive through no effort of their own can deny it.

It makes no sense emotionally (makes the family of the victim relive and relive and relive the horror of the event) nor economically (murder trials and retrials and appeals and retrials are expensive) nor does treating violence with violence end violence.

So... those are some thoughts that come to mind late at night...

Maybe. Intellectually I don't think we should purposely take another life. Hell, I can't step on a spider. But I know (or I think I know) that I would *want* to take out that murdering SOB if he touched my family. So maybe this is the answer: no State/Gov't death penalty, but the next of kin gets the right to murder the murderer. If he or she doesn't want to, or is unable to do it, then it's life without parole. I think I would do it. But it would have to be right away while I was furious, or I'm libel to forgive, and we certainly wouldn't want that.

As to the specifics about the DC Sniper. I was in DC during that time. One evening we went to a concert at Warner Theater and they made us wait outside the theater for an hour before the doors opened. We all thought we were going to get sniped. It was an eerie feeling I'll never forget. During the intermission, they made an announcement that the sniper had struck again, just down the street from the theater. We were scared to leave. It turned out to be his last murder. So, do I think he should have the death penalty? No. But if he had shot family or friends near me, then yes. And I'll do it.
