http://www.waterdawgs1387.com/ is now up and running.

It only really has the first page done, but had to start somewhere. Page two is just an Under Construction sign right now. This is not going to be and elaborate web site, but I do want to post pictures as we have different events. The other folks want me to archive the newsletter there. I would like to get some art work from the different soldiers children and have and art gallery.

I this is just going to be a one day at a time journey. They will be gone for over a year, so there will be plenty of time for updates.

I also would like for any one on WDC that is willing to place and uplifting short story, poem, or article in the newsletter to please do so. It won't be a paying gig, but I know the men and women of the 1387th would love to have something new each month to read, and so would their children. Any suggestions or Idea are welcome.

God bless

Good day all,

I have been a busy little bee this weekend. The first page mock up for the newsletter was completed at midnight Saturday night and given to the Major first thing Sunday morning. Mind you, this was only a rough draft of what the newsletter will look like. I had taken the information and events that transpired Saturday and created the one page. I made several copies for jey people to look at and give an opinion. I gave the Major the color original. He loved it! Before I knew it several of the soldiers were already reading it.

Now, I have been ask to do a website that will hold the archive of the newsletter and pictures for the troops of any activities we do throughout the year while they are gone as well as some art work from the children. I was not sure I could pull this off, since the accounts I have are small, but thanks to someone very dear to me, who has a server that hosts his and his wife's private websites I will be able to create a website and not have to worry about putting to many pictures or running out of space. I don't think it will take up too much space, but this way I don't have to worry. So, looks like I will be doing a website for the next fourteen to eighteen months.

Better go for now.

Well, it looks like I am going to get published. It's not a paying gig, but will be a steady one for the next fourteen to eighteen months. My husbands National Guard Unit the 1387th Greenville will be leaving for Iraq some time in June, and I am now the reporter, editor, and publisher of the Family Readiness Group Newsletter. I have affectionately called it the Waterdawg Press after the unit, they are called the Waterdawgs.

I am always open for any advice or suggestions. I will be trying to send many of the news letter via email to save the the unit on postage. The newsletter will go out monthly to all the of the families as well as all our soldiers. Todays count we have one hundred and twenty-three soldiers deploying from this unit.

Thanks for listening

HAPPY EASTER

I still have not got a clue which items I want to move into my ready to submit folder. I'm not really sure any thing I have is ready to submit.

I did check out some of the links from earlier in my blog.

This one sound like a possible place to send my children's story:

Boyds Mills Press
815 Church Street
Honesdale, PA 18431

www.boydsmillspress.com

This company also takes poems but only book length submissions.

Still looking for avenues for some of my poetry.

I had to stop and catch a nap today, don't know why I am so tired lately. Now that I am awake, I have been catching up on some of my reading. I just read the funnest story and started laughing "Invalid Item. We have been writing stories for a contest in our Writing for Children class and Ms Deborah wrote a really cute one just for fun.

I was laughing so hard that Dekotah decided he need to check me out. It is very hard to type with over sixty pounds of dog in your lap.

I hope every one is having a great Easter weekend. Well I'm off to read some more.

I have now written my very first children's story.
"Invalid Item

This one has potential. Even if I do say so myself! I had fun writing this one and can see the illustrations for it already. I wrote this for a contest in my "Invalid Item on "Invalid Item. As I finished it I want to sit down and start sketching out the pages, but today I am going to spend doing some over due port raiding and reviewing.

I have let too much time pass with out proper visits to read many of my friends ports. This I intend to correct today. Now, I am still learning how to review, but can at least tell how a piece makes me feel and what I liked about it.

So, I am off to read for the day!

Many times we find ourselves being knocked around by life, but it is all in what we do about it. We have a choice, we can do what they want (give them a reaction) or we do what is the best thing for us and (act on the situation). Action is a thought out deliberate response. Reaction is that knee jerk response they want us to give them when they push our buttons.

Keep making conscious actions.

This was written over 29 years ago when life just started getting tough and It has been my mantra. Although, sometimes I would let is slip my mind and let thing and people get me down.

I say times were just getting tough, but by that time in junior high times had been tough since second grade when it can to personal and social interaction with anyone except my family. Social outcast is the most pleasent term I could use. A homley girl in hand-me-downs clothes that know one really liked. Brainack kid that was ok to be around if you needed help with your homework, unless someone else was looking. Teachers pet because I was always ask to help. The but end of ever mean nasty dirty joke that could be played. Names that would turn my journal in to a triple x post. But I survied.

I burried my mind in poetry and learning; and my heart into painting, drawing, and animals. Always the animals, I never can go very long with out at least one. Unconditional love always glad to see you no matter what.

Out of those years came many poems and I have created a book to share them with you here on WDC. You can reach it below.

I have started placing them in the book but it will take me a while. I have the poems from book one in it now. I have a lot of them typed up and do some major spelling corrections.

God Bless

This makes award number 3 and the third class I have completed. Although, I am sad to not have the teachers I had in each of the three classes, I am looking forward to meeting Lexi and breakingfree07 the teachers for my new poetry classes. I have thoroughly enjoyed the classes I have taken so far at "Invalid Item

When I awoke, this morning there was a most pleasant surprise in my mail box. Although, I was sad that both of my poetry class were over, I was very happy to find in my email this morning a certificate of completion for each one. And a very nice note from Deborah Owens.

Tomorrow I am going to sign up for the Poet's Shop Talk and Pondering Poetry.
I really want to stay up and write tonight, but the sandman is knocking and it has been a really long day.
