Hmm...one day I'll write a newer introduction. Maybe I should make a static item of all my different introductions. *Laugh*

New Introduction, October 31, 2005
It's time to update this introduction. Since June 2005, I've packed up and moved from Armenia to the US, found a house, waited a month for settlement, moved in, found a preschool for my son, got settled in, and maybe found my sanity. Maybe. I'm just now getting back to writing. Read on for more about me and life in the US.

Original Introduction:
I live in the former Soviet Republic of Armenia nine months out of the year. The rest of the time you can find me living out of a suitcase in the US or on one of our travels somewhere. This journal started out as a description of my life in Armenia, but I've amended it since I've realized that life there is very similar to life everywhere. I don't have a car, clothes dryer, microwave, or dishwasher but I've learned one doesn't really need those things to have a fulfilling life. Some days I'm just estatic over a slow trickle of hot water which can mean the difference between being smelly for another twenty-four hours or being clean.

By the way, DH=dear husband; DS=darling son; MIL=mother-in-law. You get the picture.

Anyone heard of this? I'm thinking about doing it, if hubby and kiddo will cooperate to give me some quiet time in the morning.

but already recovering.

Me, I'm tired. *Yawn*

He started throwing up around 11 pm and went every two hours or so all night. Now he's camped out on the couch with way too much energy looking none the worse for the wear. Me, well, it ain't pretty.

Good thing we had nothing on the agenda for today, besides him going to camp, which ain't happening. So, it's our ususal rest and relax Friday...no one has to get dressed, no one has to do anything.

Well, except I've laundry. I won't go into details, but it ain't pretty! *Laugh*

I figured out how to use the scanner, but the files are too big to e-mail. Now I can't figure out how to make them smaller. I was feeling pretty darn pleased with myself for initially figuring it out, now I need my hubby to tell me what to do. But if hubby were here to tell me, I wouldn't need to scan documents to send him 'cause he'd be here to read the originals! grrrr

Received the report from the audiologist today and I want to send it to hubby so he can review it before I take hiddo to the pediatric otologist (or whatever it's called) tomorrow.

Having a minor freak out about the whole issue and there is no one to talk to about it right now. Damn anxiety.

It's 5:30. Kiddo is running around nekkid. I've nothing planned for dinner. Crap. My day started out so well but has fallen apart a bit. Just cracks....

Maybe I'll sit and meditate for a few minutes. Then work on dinner. Then take care of my fish. Then switch the laundry so at least what's in the washer won't get sour.

Kiddo is in camp until 1 pm. Mom has flown back home. Even though I had a Dr's appt this morning, I had 3 blessed hours to myself. Joy, oh joy! Now I have to leave in 10 mins. to pick him up, but that's OK.

Woo hoo! Counting the days until hubby comes back. Less than a week now.

We had a bum day. I'm still in my PJs and kiddo changed clothes 3 times. He got dressed this morning, then went outside with the hose and got soaked, changed again, and now is in his PJs. He's complaining that his room doesn't have enough space and the inequity that my room is larger. Who thought it would start this soon?

We're having another thunderstorm. The lights flickered a few times and the only flashlight that works (and that I can find) is the lion one kiddo got for Christmas. I was scrambling to change the batteries and the lights were browning out. It was a race against nature, fortunatly, I won (this time), and though the lights did go out later, they came right back on. I'm adding flashlights to my shopping list.

The gutters work! Though in the back the water is still dripping over the edges. I had them cleaned last week. Finally. The backyard looks like Shrek's swamp and there is a stream running from the back to the front along the property line out ot the storm drain. Wonder which tree will come down this time? We had one come down in each of the last two storms. They were dead and not big, and no damage, but still, the potential exists

There's a buzzy creature (either a brown wasp or a big fly) in the office with me. Flew in while I was taking out the trash. I tried to swat it, but I'm too short. It was up in the semi-circle window (above the regular windows) and I was on hubby's swiveling computer tree chair and the trees were blowing 'cause of the storm. Rather disorienting and it's a miracle that I didn't fall. It would have been a greater miracle if I'd actually gotten it, but I was a few inches too short. It's since moved to the crown molding. I'm going to close the doors tonight and hope it doesn't crawl into the air vents or go under the door. Damn 10 foot ceilings...I just can't reach it. I stood in the room with it earlier, hoping it would land where I could get it and I had panic attacks every time it came near. Fortunately, it's up high and being cooperative by not flying around me. The funny part? (besides the comical nature of being up on the chair) was kiddo tried to help coax it down by beating his drum and blowing his train whistle. Imaginative, but didn't work.

I'm excited for camp starting tomorrow! Already made his lunch. LOL.

Off to bed! Gotta get up early, shower, get kiddo to camp, and get to the Dr's office (routine crap) by 9 am. And did I mention making coffee and breakfast and making sure kiddo has sunscreen on and his lunch? Oh yeah, and getting dressed myself! Can't forget that! *Laugh*

The storm is blowing over, though steady rumbles and flickers tell me it's not safe to shower yet, so off to bed I go.

I haven't been around much and I won't be around much for the immediate future.

*Star* Hubby is out of town and won't be back for two more weeks. I can't even call him easily on the phone like I did when he was in Holland.

*Star* My brother is now in Kuwait for two weeks, then he'll be moving into the war zone in Iraq.

*Star* My mom is coming in to town to visit next week. (This is not the helpful situation others might find it to be.)

*Star* I'm still working on my business plan. It's taken several twists and turns since I started.

*Star* My son failed an audiogram today (I think that's what they're called) and now we're dealing with diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment. It's a hearing impairment issue that if the damn nurse at his well-child visit LAST year had done her job more thoroughly (or if I had not taken her assurances that all was well when she had problems administering the test-kiddo wasn't fully cooperative) then this would have been detected LAST year. I asked the Dr. to redo the hearing/eye tests this year since I wasn't 100% confident with last year and it showed problems so we were referred to the ear people to do a full audiogram. The next step? Waiting for the ENT to call so I can set up an appt.

Go buy some Tupperware from my site or host an online party and get your friends to buy! I need some money to pay for my latte therapy! *Laugh*

Onwards!

Hey sweetie,

I should be in bed, but I'm not. My migraine is finally going away (end of day 3) and I'm enjoying the peace and quiet. The dishes are done. The trash is out. The house is relatively clean, well, sorta.

We had a tree come down in the back yard during that last thunderstorm. I didn't notice until I went to take out the compost tonight. It ended at the fence and I wandered over into Pat's yard to see if it went into her yard too. Didn't appear to, though she was sitting out back reading so I had to explain why I was there! We had a nice chat. If you were home, I would have sat outside with her for a while, but as it was N. was still not quite asleep upstairs and I didn't want to leave him alone for too long. No damage to the fence, but I really didn't look that closely.

We had to go to the pet store today to get more blue medicine for the sick fish, who is now named Maya (from Maya and Miguel). They had gravel washers on sale, so I picked one up. We also bought another fish! A red, male crowntail betta. He's sooo freakin' cool. I fell in love with a purple one, but N. insisted on the red. His name is Alicia, said with a spanish accent: a lee cee a, after Alicia and Diego on Go Diego Go. I told him that was using a girl's name for a boy fish but he didn't care, so I didn't care either.

Right now the sick fish is in the one gallon bowl (she's getting better, slowly) where she was when you left, and the new red one is in the two gallon tank. If sickie survives, I'll set up the 5 gal tank again (on the bar in the kitchen) and move the red one there and the sickly one in the 2 gal. Since we've now got a small gravel washer and they'll both be by the sink, cleaning the tanks SHOULD be much easier than with the turkey baster. I didn't put gravel in the 2 gal. since I need to get new for that one, and I need to sterilize the gravel thats in the 5 gal. before using it again.

We hung out around the house all day. N. woke up with bruised looking eyes and looking exhausted. He was snoring something fierce last night and sweating, even though he was under the same blanket he always is and wearing the shortie pjs. I put another pillow under his head and his sleep became more restful immediately. I left the blanket there, but just untucked it from around him. He came in and slept with me sometime during the night and didn't get up until 8 am. I got him into bed earlier tonight and with less fuss. We go to his 5 yr. well child visit tomorrow morning, so we can't afford to sleep in since we'll have to leave at 9 to be on time.

I let him run the yarn up the stairs and hang stuff from the balcony. Kept him entertained for hours! He was very careful not to swing stuff too hard. I was pretty impressed with his control. He also got out his watercolors and started in on them. Somehow he got some on the hardwood floors, so I got out the spray floor cleaner and a rag and spot cleaned. Now we've got some shiny spots! Damn him, now I have to clean all the floors. I hadn't realized how dirty they had become.

Tomorrow starts the massive house cleaning! Mom is in on Sat. and I'm sure that my editing job will be here then as well.

We didn't make Meeting for Worship, or the picnic they had afterwards. It was a major big deal to get him dressed and out to go to the pet store!

Tomorrow after the Dr's appt, we might (everything is a might these days) head over to Barnes and Noble for a kid's program. I'd like to head over to our library because it is the start of the Summer Reading Program (for all ages) and there are storytelling sessions in the afternoon. He doesn't want to go to the pool. Says he doesn't like it anymore. I don't know why, except for we went last when he was just getting sick, so maybe he associates one with the other. I havne't minded because I really havne't felt up to it, but I am surprised by his reaction.

Love ya, miss ya. Hope you're getting some sleep and things are cooling off.

Love,

Susan

PS...This is going to be my blog entry for the day. Probably bore my readers to sleep.

And no, I didn't get my hair done. Not that I wouldn't like to, mind you, but I'd rather spend my money on books and I'm too damn lazy to maintain it. So ya'll just have to deal with the grey.

*Flower1* Migrane continues from yesterday.

*Flower2* Spent a wonderful afternoon with kiddo walking around a folk art craft fair, cookies at Starbucks (and iced coffee for me), and the Barnes & Noble ($35 later, all for me!)

*Flower3* Had to disclipine kiddo for stealing a cookie! He took it from the register and stuffed it down his britches. Yes, thankfully it was cellophane wrapped. He told me about it when we got outside and I made him come in and give it back to the cashier and apologize. He lost TV privileges for the night. Good for me since it was late anyway and it was easier for me to roll him into the shower and bed.

*Flower4* Enjoyed a Waffle House breakfast for dinner. Love how two of us can eat to our heart's content for $10. And kiddo was thrilled he got to sit at the counter. When we're with hubby, we take over a booth. We were the only customers in there until right before we left.

*Flower5* My fish is not getting better. *sigh* I have to go change and medicate the water before heading to bed.

*Flower1* My brother's 4-day pass has ended and he's back at Ft. Dix. Within the next few days, he'll be shipped to Kuwait for 2 weeks or so and then on to Baghdad, I think. It's a big military secret where he'll be and what he'll be doing. My SIL sent me a text when he got on the bus. I was on my way to the craft fair and wept the whole way north.

It's almost 5:30 pm and I'm hanging out on the computer following a metaphysical discussion on karma and reincarnation on Second Life. I'm typing on my new Palm Treo though I'm a bit concerned because I read somewhere that it is not compatible with Bluetooth keyboards and one of the reasons I got it was to do writing using the Documents to Go software included as part of the package. Basically I can now use my phone and my Palm Pilot as one unit and a large percentage of my old PP use was adding the portable keyboard and using it to draft.

We took Hubby to the airport today, hopefully the last time for a long while. He'll be gone 3 weeks this trip. Kiddo and I ate an early dinner and he's hanging out in front of the TV. He's still exhausted from our Disney trip. I'm still recovering from my sickness which seems to have morphed into something else.

sore throat, some sort of bacterial infection, not strep, on antibiotics

*sigh*

Poor kiddo, he just wants to play and I just want to sleep. Neither of us is doing what we want.

Off to tackle Mt. Washmore...hubby packs and leaves for Pakistan on Friday. Can't send him with dirty underwear, can I?

I've got 19 pages of edits to input. The file to save to USB and to print out. The house to clean (just the basics) and to pack. We're flying to Disney tomorrow and I had hoped that this editing project would be completed, but I didn't figure on getting sick! I'm almost better now and running up against the deadline. I'll have to work on vacation to finish. aarrggg It's almost 5 pm!

I find the whole process of planning, shopping, prepping, cooking, and cleaning up so exhausting.

I *Heart* to eat though!

And I like to help. But being the main food provider/preparer just stinks sometimes.
