Hmm...one day I'll write a newer introduction. Maybe I should make a static item of all my different introductions. *Laugh*

New Introduction, October 31, 2005
It's time to update this introduction. Since June 2005, I've packed up and moved from Armenia to the US, found a house, waited a month for settlement, moved in, found a preschool for my son, got settled in, and maybe found my sanity. Maybe. I'm just now getting back to writing. Read on for more about me and life in the US.

Original Introduction:
I live in the former Soviet Republic of Armenia nine months out of the year. The rest of the time you can find me living out of a suitcase in the US or on one of our travels somewhere. This journal started out as a description of my life in Armenia, but I've amended it since I've realized that life there is very similar to life everywhere. I don't have a car, clothes dryer, microwave, or dishwasher but I've learned one doesn't really need those things to have a fulfilling life. Some days I'm just estatic over a slow trickle of hot water which can mean the difference between being smelly for another twenty-four hours or being clean.

By the way, DH=dear husband; DS=darling son; MIL=mother-in-law. You get the picture.

I never made it to drum circle last night. I didn't make it to bed until after midnight. Grrr. The translator SUCKED, to put it mildly, and the articles needed more work than I thought. So, even without the delays in the afternoon, I'd've not made to to drum. I would have made it to bed earlier though, and maybe I wouldn't have this migraine.

Damn hormones. Damn triggers when I'm hormonal.

Off to put host packets together...the next thing on my overdue to do list. *sigh*

Oh yeah, check out my Tupperware site. I had the front page redesigned and it's really cool. Let me know what you think.

I need ME time before I go postal.

I've just lost an hour and a half, for which I blame hubby. HE did not change the channel to football during the commercial break on Noggin. Kiddo saw the first few minutes of Pinky Dinky Do and then, wham, before the story (and there is always a story on Pinky Dinky Do), the TV is changed to football. Hubby was unrelenting about changing it back for 20 minutes. A huge temper tantrum ensues, not even ending with hubby putting kiddo in the big hug, nor with me lying down with him on my bed. Cause once he calmed down, he said he wanted to watch football with hubby and then started acting up and putting his head in front of hubby's...another temper tantrum and big hug. Now kiddo is on the other couch watching a movie on the DVD player. Hubby is back to watching football. And I've lost 90 minutes of daylight and energy.

I've made a cup of tea. Moved the computer into my office. Cranked up the internet radio. Gabbed a whole box of Vanilla wafers. Woe to the person who gets between me and a cookie right now. I'd lock the fuckin' door if there was a lock. And I'm not coming out until I choose too. Fuck 'em. I need space to work. I need space to be.

IF I finish three things!

1. My editing project.
2. Put together a Tupperware host packet.
3. My entry in the DWC. (100 words)

Wish me luck! I really, really, really, really, really want to drum!

It's begun. Despite my best efforts. Baby boy, who is now 4, had the nerve to tell me that boys should play with screwdrivers. He was quite confused by my loud, "excuse me?" I was in the midst of taking apart the carpet sweeper. I think he just wanted me to relinquish it so he could play. *Laugh*

I’m participating in the war on terror.

I seek out and destroy germs and rogue dust bunnies. I’m in a war against clutter.

They keep invading my house, attaching themselves to my son’s stuffed animals with a frightening tenacity, sometimes going so far as to cocoon the bears in a spider web of grey dust ropes. They form different colored colonies in the bathrooms disguising their harmfulness in hues of green and pink. The kitchen counters and computer desks are “hot zones” of ever-growing stacks of keys, receipts, old mail, new mail, and things to be dealt with later.

I ravage whole colonies of germs, smite dirt patches, and fill the trashcans with junk on a regular basis. And still, it never ends.

I worry about the bad karma of wiping out whole families of dust bunnies. They are sentient beings, are they not? They followed the injunction to be fruitful and multiply. I wield my broom and vacuum, get into the “zone” and annihilate every last one of the suckers I come across. Big, little, tiny, doesn’t matter. All are fodder for the garbage bag.

And I do this in the name of peace. To provide a “safe” place for my family to take care of the intimate details of their life. To provide a “comfortable” place for my family to rest and relax and enjoy the time they have to spend in our home.

Yikes.

We hung out this morning. I read the paper. Surfed. Caught up on e-mail. IMed. The ususal. We never made it to Quaker Meeting this morning. We didn't get to bed until around 10 last night and kiddo slept through to 8:45.

After lunch we went out and washed both vehicles. Hubby's was easy...just a Honda Accord. Mine was tough since it's an SUV. I had to get up on a ladder to wash the roof and get the whole windshield. That was fun *note the sarcasm*. But considering that we've not washed the cars once in the year we've had 'em, it was a good afternoon. Now I need to dust the inside of mine and do the windows and maybe someday vaccuum. Hubby can take care of the inside of his if it's so important. I had fun running around in his car, but I switched them and put his back in the garage. Mine generally lives in the driveway since the two car garage only has room for one car right now.

Looks like I'm going to the grocery store tomorrow since I can't convince kiddo to go with me. It's probably better that way anyway. I can drop him off at school and buzz the grocery store on the way home. Wow, I can even go to Curves in the morning too. Woo hoo!

I managed to edit today, just 4 book reviews. Gonna clean up the dinner dishes and see if I can knock out the last 6 and finish the "undedited reviews" folder. Some have been in there for way too long.

We spent yesterday at home. Kiddo never changed out of his PJ's, except to put clean ones on to go to bed! He watched TV and played inside. Then after dinner we went out and he rode his bike and scooter. I pulled lots of weeds from the lawn. He knocked on both Nicholas' and Josh's door looking for someone to play with, but they were both not at home. We never made it to the grocery store. Though last night I was telling him all the stuff we needed to get and he was excited about going, we'll see if we actually get there today! LOL. Not sure what we'll do today. Last night he said he wanted to stay home all day today, so we'll see. I need to start editing, so that might not be a bad thing for me. I've not done any work on that project yet. Kiddo has been asking about you. He woke up in them middle of the night worried, but went back to sleep when I said two more sleeps. He misses you. Did you know our windows tip inward to clean? We found out yesterday when he was trying to close a window and pulled on it the right way. Fortunately, it was the one right next to the computer and I was able to brace it with my hand before it fell out. Went right back in. Freaky! Glad it wasn't the one behind me or I might have a nasty headache. This has been a pretty stress free time for us, so far! I realize that we're only half done. LOL But we'll go to Meeting tonight for the potluck, and Meeting for Worship tomorrow. I got my loaner CPAP and I hate it! It smells like cigarette smoke. I didn't get organized enough yesterday to call and complain, so I'll have to deal with it until Monday. It's gross. I'm letting it run hoping to air it out. I love the new mask though. What a difference. And this machine doesn't whine a bit, so you'll sleep better (I certainly am, except for the smoke smell).

Tell everyone I said hi!

Love ya,

Susan

(from an e-mail to hubby who is on a business trip)

Hi there,

We're doing just fine. Kiddo is tuckered out and lying on the couch twirling his hair. It's not quite 7 and I know he's done for the night. He was at preschool from 9-12, then we came home until 3 when we went to the park. We didn't get home from there until soon after 5. Dinner was hot dog, rice, a bite of carrot, and half a pear for him and some salmon, brown rice, and leftover broccoli for me. I got organized this afternoon and defrosted the salmon and cooked the brown rice BEFORE we went to the park, so it was easy, peasy to get together when we got home. I also cut up half the watermelon and he and Zoe polished it off. I guess we'll have the other half for breakfast.

The R.T. came this morning with my loaner machine with the hot humidifier (well, warm...there are 5 heat settings to choose from) and the new mask. It seems pretty comfortable.

I've been really good about picking up & trying to stay ahead of the mess! LOL...Kiddo and I swept and mopped the kitchen floor yesterday. He helped unload the dishwasher by putting all the silverware away. I've got it running again right now, somehow we managed to fill it up. I put the compost bucket in there so hopefully that'll freshen it up a bit. I've been running around in your call all day today. It was fun!

I've got about 7 files from ******* to start on. I thought I'd do some last night, but he and I ended up going to bed around 9. I slept through until 7:30 or so. At one point I woke up and took off my boot but fell back to sleep before going to the bathroom. I thought my bladder was going to burst this morning. I've been tired and dragging all day. I didn't make coffee, but stuck with tea. I'm sure the lack of caffeine is slowing me down.

I'm not sure what we're going to do tomorrow. Maybe go to Harris Teeter and do the grocery shopping. Maybe go downtown to Freedom Park. I know of two health food stores not too far from there I'd like to check out. Or maybe go to Reedy Creek park. I think you can rent fishing poles there. Saturday night I think we'll wander over to the newcomer's potluck at Meeting. During the day there is an Apple Festival about an hour away. Contemplating that. Sunday we'll got to Meeting for Worship and stay for the forum afterward. Monday is back to school day.

No further mama drama today, yet. :D

So far so good.

Have fun! Don't worry about us.

Love you,

Susan
