Better late than never???

BIRTHDAY WISHES FOR MY BEST FRIEND

How could I forget? That's just not cool!
It's like I've almost broken the Golden Rule!
I could apologize all day long, it's true,
How could I forget a friend like YOU?

So to make amends, and for what its worth,
I want you to know you're an angel here on earth!
You've been there for me through thick and thin,
When I am down, you always make me grin.

Your words of wisdom hit the mark,
I could keep on talking till after dark;
Your loyalty and generousity
Has left a mark on all humanity.

You write with style, honesty and grace
And an American Flag marks your space;
You've given upgrades, quite a few -
Writing.com would miss the likes of you!

This week you turned sixty-three,
But still you haven't caught up with me!
Never feel as though you are getting old,
Without your friendship, life would be cold.

You have the imagination and the heart,
To really, truly leave your mark;
So don't think of leaving us for a rocking chair,
There's many of us who read and care!

Age is just a number (and who is counting?)
Temperature rises and stress is mounting;
It will all be better in the Fall,
When cool winds give relief to all..

Well, I'm off track here, so I have to say
That I hope you had a very nice birthday!
I would have baked a cake had I known,
And sang you a song on my strawberry roan!

I hope that all who read this verse of mine,
Take the time to write you a little line
And wish you all the very best in the year ahead,
To cheer you up (like me, their faces are red!)

HAPPY BIRTHDY, MONTY!
Your best friend,
Countrymom
