Poetry Wrote Over Several Years on Spiritual, Religious, and Devotional Subjects. |
Devotional Poetry My Search I Into the mystic realm, I let my mind take flight, Over stone strewn highways, I search the endless night. I was the Wanderer, Looking for a goal, And the Seeker, Searching for my soul. I walked the roads of idle fancy, Paths of material delight, Stumbling over stones of vain imaginings, In my search for the light. A voice deep within me cried: "Here doesn't lay your goal, Upon these darkened pathways, You'll never find your sou." II Into the mystic realm, Again my mind took flight, Over well traveled highways, I search the misty twilight. I was a Seeer, Seeking an unknown goal, And a Stranger, To my own soul. In this realm of half-light, I strolled the roads of tradition, Picking my way carefully, Through the shadows of superstition. Still from within came the cry: "Not in this realm is your goal, Upon these half-lit pathways, You'll never find your soul" III Into the mystic realm, Again I took flight, And walked the paths, Where God has shed His light. I walked the hallowed highways, Trod by the Prophets of old, Strolled the ancient paths, Strewn with nuggets of pure gold. This is the wondrous realm, Where all paths become one, This is the glorious land, Illuminated by God's sun. Through the Word of God, I have found my soul, In the Messenger for this age, I have found my goal. Poet's Note: ▼ |
God Saw December 20, 2018 at 9:51pm God Saw
I egocentric, animal, predator,
Self-righteous, selfish, phobic, and obstinate;
I stood alone condemning others,
Never responsible, I was perfect.
God's knowledge comprehends all reality;
God knows the soul's attributes and abilities;
God saw me a worthy creature,
Capable, caring, and worth salvation.

The dancer's desire--
the scent of lemon and mint;
butterfly echoes nutmeg.
Geraniums scented and unscented:
unity's bicolored nucleus.
Angelic grandeur
aromas of coconut,
crave peppermint and apple.
The artist's inspiration
stripped essence of clustered flair
joy blooms dawn's essence.
Orange glory, flowered splendor,
and starred violet
beauty in carved crystal vase.

Glass Shards
discarded diamonds
glittering in the sun
or the fragments of religion
shattered by the hammer of dogma

God Reveals Himself
From age to age God reveals Himself!
When religion falls into darkness,
When evil covers the earth,
When humanity becomes estranged,
God's Manifestation appears.
Stepping from behind the veil of concealment,
Into the midmost heart of darkness,
He sends the darkness and its creatures fleeing,
From God's dawning light.

A Metaphor
How came about the colors of the rose?
When conceived in Eden there was only one
pigment to offset its verdant leaves,
and no thorns to scar the hands of love.
How came about the colors of the rose:
The shades of red, yellow, brown, black, and white,
that reflect evolution's light;
How came the barbs that scar the hands of love?
How came about the colors of the rose:
Created to absorb the light of God,
a black rose bloomed beneath the firmam... [Read more] Anthem for One World December 20, 2018 at 2:22pm Anthem For One World
How do you write an anthem for one world;
a hymn for a planet united in diversity;
an allegiance for for a civilization in love with unity?
How do you write an anthem for one world?
Do you rehearse the liturgies of faith
that foreshadowed the unity of race?
How do you write an anthem for one world?
Do you recount the names of nation states
that merged into its government?
How do you write an anthem for one world?
Do you focus on humanity's diversity... [Read more] August Resurrection: Meditation on a Hot August Night December 20, 2018 at 2:11pm August Resurrection:
Meditation on a Hot August Night
On hot August nights
the humidity increases,
as clouds gather
above the valley of the shadow of death.
On hot August nights
the dead lie,
sweltering in the crypt of insistent-self,
waiting
for the finger of God
to flash across the charcoal sky.
On hot August nights
light veins flowing between heaven and earth
strike the ego-self,
stripping the spirit
of Satan's armor.
On hot August nights
the shocking power of ... [Read more] The Centennial Commemoration of Baha'u'llah's Ascension December 20, 2018 at 1:43pm The Centennial Commemoration of Baha'u'llah's Ascension
United in the love of God's Glory,
we gather in the presence of the Beloved,
to commemorate His ascension
into the Abha Paradise.
Flute music,
like water from the fountain of life
that bubbles up in the Garden of Ridvan,
reverberates
through the sanctuary.
Roses,
red as the dawn of a new day,
perfume the air
and lend their taste
to the prayers ascending
to the throne of the Blessed Beauty.
