"She found herself extremely conscious of his virile appeal." You might use this one as an animal attraction that is so powerful that neither character can let go of what they are feeling. Just an idea. It is outdated but if you are working with a historical it might fit.
"Complacent buoyancy" you're correct in your opinion that it doesn't fit. It's like floating on a pool just waiting on someone to do something. There's potential...
