What made me drawn to review this piece: The title because I was drawn to find out what kind of tracks in the snow I would be finding through your work. Great job and wonderful play with words. I didn’t know you could find that much in the snow.




How it made me feel: Wonderful because it made me realize that we are not the only ones on this earth that make our mark on life.




Did it connect to the human experience? Yes, because we always wonder and remain that small child who wants to see the animals rolling around in the peace of nature. Keep writing the poetry I just don’t believe we have enough of this good writing anymore. I think the recital of poetry in my youth should continue to this day. It’s a form of oral yoga. Thanks so much for sharing and posting.

What made me drawn to review this piece: The name because I am so anxiously awaiting spring. Although, just some of the flowers have bloomed just the burst of color helps my depression. I believe our God spaced our seasons out just right.




How it made me feel: Great because you said just the right things in such a short time. A good writer of poetry doesn’t have to make it long just look at the Hauki. Good job.




Did it connect to the human experience? Yes, our hope and love of the seasons makes our life right.

What made me drawn to review this piece: The title it automatically brought thoughts of broken relationships.




How it made me feel: Sad because I could feel the tears, the salt trails, the desperation of wanting to get the person back and really knowing it won’t do any good because it will happen again.




Did it connect to the human experience? Yes, anyone that has a heart has had it broken at one time or another.

What made me drawn to review this piece: I have loved poetry since high school days. All kinds of poetry because I am 60 years young. I love this poem and what drew me to it was the beautiful Quilting the Poems. I’ve been on writing.com since 2005 and I’ve longed to create folders like yours.




How it made me feel: Sad in knowing that things do change but happy that the pain fades away. I love the comparrison of the leaves with pain. How they change colors and eventually the pain is swept away. I’m determined to try and get my book published by May 5. A collection of southern short stories from my northern point of mind. Always a comparison in life to something else. I look forward to reading what you are writing for the youth. I’m going to send you a link to a poem I wrote and wonder if you write and go back, wondering where it came from like you are in a trace while writing.

Review of The Jesus Lizard

What made me drawn to review this piece: Really interested title. I was thinking maybe a man in a lizard form who was named Jesus like a Mexican. Of course, my imagination runs with me sometimes.




How it made me feel: Just exactly what the mother felt a feeling of what’s next with these kids wanting weird pets. Somethings I’ve told my children when they were younger need to be free. You did such a great job in your description about the pet store. I would have liked you to add some of the horrible smells in the place. That’s the first thing I think of when I walk into one and they’re usually behind the counter eating something in those places. I love the descriptions of the people who worked at the pet shop.




Did it connect to the human experience? Yes, it relates to every parent.

Personal note: I hate you have a broken elbow. Right now my left shoulder is killing me running up my neck. I’m going to call my doctor and get an emgency appointment with her. Another thing if my thing is checked Good Deeds Get Cash set as default and I place it in the Group affiliation Simply positive group is that cheating. I haven’t been on here in awhile and I need to make sure I’m doing things right.
Thank you and get better soon. The pain in an arm is terrible. The pain pills aren’t even helping.

What made me drawn to review this piece: I was drawn to this piece because I hope to be a successful writer one day. I started in elementary school. I wrote as we were preparing to go on a trip to Niagra falls. I journaled the trip and I was going into the 7th grade so I was doing this for the elementary school. I was so proud of myself because they published it so the other children could read it and learn writing skills. I was in a school in the Ghetto of Detroit.
Then when I started reading your work I saw how much advanced you were as a writer than I am. I know of these groups that teach writers and it’s certainly great. I try not to waste time on other pages like Facebook.




How it made me feel: It made me feel that there is hope for me as a writer. Because of your writing I am more confirmed in leaving the social networks to their own devices. I am ready to write.




Did it connect to the human experience? Yes, especially those of us who want a second vocation! Great job one of the bests I’ve read in quite some time!

You have such a gift. I have it too but I don't know why i've quit writing. Retired, I am too, but now that I have all the time in the world I can't even put my mind together to transfer the short stories out of my post into Word.

What brought me here was your country song about a train? It was so good but I was trying to locate it in your port to review….it was great. A real tear jerker. I'm going to try and write another song. It's always great to write anything because that's how we learn to form our words into sentences everyday.

This poem you wrote about Blue is the best. I love dogs and in your poem I can see Blue and feel all the senses. My Bear dog did the same thing in the park, chasing Ducks. He’s so strong I just let him go lease and all. He’s a siberian Husky living in the south. He came close to drowning swimming after them. When I read your poem, both of them, I can hear your voice. It takes talent to do that as my Creative Writing teacher says. She said in the first story I wrote that writing and hearing your voice in your writing is a goal few writers have naturally. I’ll past that on to you.

Well, I hate all the mistakes I’ve probably made here but it’s 4 am and sleep evades me.

This is a very good start and it relates to what everyone thinks when they are younger. When spend our youth wishing to be older only to get older at a very fast pace and wish that you were younger. I can see God laughing at that sentence.

I didn't care for using the word down so much. It was misspelled once in your poem. I do think with a little work this could be a great poem. Maybe some visual stimulation would help in this poem. I want to see the little girl, hear her, use all the senses in your work. You could even add the smells of children and how life stinks as you get older and have to face a waitress job you don't like.

There's a lot of potential so please except this criticism in jest. I had to have it starting out, believe me. Mistakes, I've made many.

Did this writing contain all the senses in it: Yes, the same sense I feel in this New Year...too much time wasted, the gray hairs coming in 90 to nothing and wonder the time I wasted in the years before. You hit the nail with the hammer! My thoughts exactly.


Why did you pick this writing? Because of its' title, "Years" and feeling the same.

Because I spent 20 hours on a bus from Detroit to Alabama. OMG how I wished I could write a song and your singing is great. Talent to no end. Do you wonder sometimes where the words come from. I'll read some things I've written and wonder where the words come from.



How it made me feel: Happy that she was brave enough to leave. Those kind of relationships can destroy you.

I must say an outline is essential in writing. 5000+ words with no map threw me for a loop. Outlining scares us because of the strict way we were taught. I call it a map so I won't flip out. Thanks for writing this to help writers during this process.

What made me drawn to review this piece: I miss poetry so much. I've got quit a bit in my port. I love the celebrating of the seasons but like you have put in your poem our earth is being reclaimed by those who have destroyed it. It pains me with guilt being of the first of the flower children that we did not continue the plight.




How it made me feel: Sad that we can hardly tell the seasons apart, in the midst of storms in the most weird places.

What made me drawn to review this piece: Young memories how can we forget them. The first love, first kiss, and first date. This poem makes a person envy the ones who fall in love and stick it out. I'm married the second time for 34 years and can't experience what you are feeling right now. We've been together so long that we want to kill each other but we've been through quite a bit and haven't given in to get out of it. Your poem was simple but simplicity is lacking in our lives these days. Good job.

Dogs are lovable. Cats are too much like people they want you to beg them to be loved. I've always said that spelling dog backwards spells God. This is the closest we get in life to His unconditional love.

What made me drawn to review this piece: Thinking as a child of all the little Apple trees I drew and painted as a child. Although you made this Apple tree come to life right before my very eyes. I love the way you write because you give nature a voice. It was beautiful. You really should think of publishing a book of nature poems if all you write is as good as this.

What made me drawn to review this piece: Society and how they view women. This was well written especially as a screen play. I would have liked it broken down in different scenes like Act 1, review it then continue to Act 2. I like to review short pieces especially when the material is long so I can soak it all in. Probably because I'm 58 and have ADHD. I really liked it though.

What made me drawn to review this piece: The title, "Revenge" we all seek it but in the end we only destroy ourselves. This piece did not go smoothly for me. For instance this sentence: I must focus, I am competing today, it was my last chance to beat her and get revenge her, my sister that ruined our family. It is too long. It needs paced out. It doesn't show the reader why this sister ruined our family. It leaves the reader hanging, wondering what could have happened to cause such rage in the family. I just was lost. I think you could write it again. A little longer giving more detail. It's hard to write something in only 300 words.




How it made me feel: Sad.




Did it connect to the human experience? Yes, revenge happens all to much in this evil world.

What made me drawn to review this piece: I always find I need to give thanks everyday of the year! I was drawn to the Po Folks and realized how rich I was to live in the country. Funny how God will put stories in place just when you need them. I switched cell phone services and was so mad because I had to walk around the 3 acres saying, "Can you hear me now?" Your story showed me how lucky I was to leave in the country. I'm going to post it on facebook so those of us who live in the woods know how great we have it in our life.

What made me drawn to review this piece: I saw the word "Stay" and started remembering a long time ago when I was so tied up with a person I was married to that I held on to his leg and let him drag me in front of my best friend and his Father. Soon the roles reversed and he was the "Stay" and I wasn't. I loved what you wrote because it is so much of each of us. It makes us stronger in relationships that continue long after the first breakup.




How it made me feel: So sad that most of us go through this. You really touched my heart.

How it made me feel: Wonderful because it has always been my dearest wish that I had a Father who thought that way about me but I did have an Uncle who took his place. I told my real father I never wanted for love for my Uncle made me a tomboy. Your daughter is lucky.

What made me drawn to review this piece: I sense profoundly and it seems more than anyone else on this earth until I read this. You wrote of a love exactly as I would have in wondering what the other person is thinking. This was wonderfully written.




How it made me feel: At first this made me feel like you were in the relationship and it was a prelude to a climax but then realizing it was a fantasy the other person wasn't participating in....lovely surprise.
