Review of King Dog
Review by Being Diane
Rated: E | (5.0)
Oh, how very sweet. I love my four legged dogs more than life itself. I lost my Jewell this year. She was a Jack Russell Terrier and ran away to die. She was 15 and there are so many stories of her in my port. I've lost my best friend and spent so many days looking for her. I wrote her a letter in my port. I think you would like it.
Thanks for sharing.

What made me drawn to review this piece: The title because my Mother lived during the depression when food was scarce, it was a true story, and a Disabled Veteran deserves everything even if it is a review from someone who is not an expert but loves to read. I found this poem to be so very sad because I never had to do without. I can't imagine little children having to do these type of things. I met the man someone was marrying and I just knew he had no intentions of puting food on the table. And you the star of the poem thought more of getting food to your little sister than to yourself. So admiral at a young age. This poem touched my heart like nothing has in a long time. I trust so many and I find out personally things like this happens through bad renters who think they can stay in my house for free that somehow because I own two houses I am rich enough that I should let them get by not paying rent for 4 months at a time. That's what good Christian people do is let them stay for nothing meanwhile; my child who is 30 that's where my money goes to the university so that she maybe will never face these problem.

How it made me feel: I think I said it all....just very sad for the children of the world. Just last night my husband said they talk about the war on drugs the medicinal marjunana but yet can't do anything about all these children getting killed. Come on a man's kid gets killed while he changes her diaper. I can't imagine how bad we've gotten.

Did it connect to the human experience? yes, sadly it did.

What made me drawn to review this piece: Seeing the Holy Sinners with the $ sign as the capital drew me in to what was going on in this writer's mind. That's what drew me into the story but after I read it I was really surprised did someone actually think this way.

How it made me feel: Sad that some person out there didn't think that once you were dead it was over.....someone will be in your place tomorrow. I used to fight againist this but it didn't work. This is what happens in life even if you are John Lennon eventually as the young people grown up they aren't going to know who you are.

Did it connect to the human experience? It did in the fact that some people really think that they are more than "Just Dust in the Wind." Sorry it doesn't work like that folks.

Oh, so very beautiful. We've all had it hard but you, my dear, the Lord has took you and gave you the water of life. The hope you have now I hope makes up for all the pain in the past. You are right He brings us through it and He never said life was easy. Someone said to me once Jesus doesn't know what it's like He never experienced sin. I said, "Don't you remember He carried all of our sin on the cross with Him?" We are lucky. I'd like to have your address and send you regular letters and cards. They lift you up. I have another friend, Bonnie who is like us. She is precious like you.

Review of The Home Sampler
Review by Being Diane
Rated: E | (5.0)
What made me drawn to review this piece:
I am always up to seeing a home sampler being it one you sew or one you write about. This I wondered about because I couldn't imagine how you could tie the two items in together. You did it and did it very well. Going behind someone and trying to get things done correctly without them knowing you were doing it too. I know Bipolar Disorder is a little different from the depression I suffer with but I see my husband making excuses for me every time toward the ending of the month when I get worse.

How it made me feel:
Sad because it must be hard to try and get things going right and then have someone come back and use the wrong color or way in straightening up the game of life. I liked how you took two different kinds of medias to show us the diease. Now you can call yourself a mixed media artist.

Keep writing. You are good.

Did it connect to the human experience? Yes most of us have come into contact with some kind of mentally disturb people these days. Of course, I think a lot of it comes from people who see mental commericals and go looking for the meds themselves.. my daughter is in college in pre-med and reminded me that years ago we didn't have commercials like we do now advertising what kind of things we had wrong with us. She's right you know.

Review of Why Do You Ask?
Review by Being Diane
In affiliation with SIMPLY POSITIVE GROUP
Rated: E | (5.0)
What made me drawn to review this piece: I saw your comment about being a member of writing.com and was drawn to your name because my Mom, who passed away 3 years ago this month always wanted me to name my girl after a flower, thus Lilly. Also, the why do you ask because sometimes I don't think it's anybody's business to ask what is wrong. When it's your mental health and you are suffering sometimes you don't even want to leave your home. You did such a wonderful job in this being short but saying it all. I tend to be long winded and can't write short, good poetry like this which tells so much about heartbreak and how you deal with it. And to me the best part of all is Why Do You Ask?

How it made me feel: Very sad, full of emotion and wondering if there was recovery from the depression.

Did it connect to the human experience? Yes, almost all people have dealt with depression during these hard days whether it is situational or an unbalance in the brain.
Keep writing. You are great.

Review of Overtime
Review by Being Diane
Rated: 13+ | (4.5)
What made me drawn to review this piece: Just the name of the writing made me wonder if it was a good anniversary or a bad one. I couldn't tell because it went a different way toward the end. There was only one mistake that I saw and it was where "are" is in the story when it should be "Our." Our crazy English language, eh?

How it made me feel: Mad at first until the clone showed up then I wondered quite a bit what was going to go on and I was Surprise. A good ending which keeps you going until the end is pretty good writing. Keep it up.

Did it connect to the human experience? Yes, I've been called the wrong name. I will never let him know until i am just crazed that day and want to start a good fight.

Happy Anniversary I've got you on my mind...The Beatles
** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only **

Did this writing contain all the senses in it: It had all the heart break of vows that went wrong. I liked the form you took in making the poem but I was surprise by the vow because i thought it might be a happy time in life instead it was the common destruction of a marriage gone the wrong way. Possibly at the start it wasn't so bad but it got worse till the end and I think she was too scared to leave.

Why did you pick this writing? I am always curious about what someone writes about marriage. I have a temper I try to control my temper but sometimes I just can't.

Improvement? None, it was perfect just the way it was.

Any words for me? I liked it and think men like this should exposed.

*Why did I pick this to review? I came across it when I saw BBWOLF needed an upgrade and he's a good writer so I get to read some good work, review and give him some g.p.'s to help him along the way. Everything I read of his is so good and believable but this surpassed that from the time he finds the boy to the time the boy is in his bed. You make being a wolf actually something I can believe in and that it exists in life. You show the heart of the wolf as well as his side which is evil. Incorporating it into an army like scene and you have something that has never been done. What does this mean for you? Get busy and write a novel like the shorts you are writing and beam in the fact it is a wolf novel worthy of being believable.

* Grammar and suggestions for a better read: I found none but I mainly look for content. A writer can be stumped because he/she is so concerned with getting things right. My creative writing teacher said this is what editors are for.

*Did it connect with the human experience? In a fantasy world: YES, YES, YES!!

Thanks so much for your help. Marsha said this would help in getting my reviews my notices in the Simply Positive Review Group. I've always wanted them but didn't know how to get about getting one. I think you should advertise them more on the sides like the stories are done. I've been a member for nearly 9 years and this is my first time following through. Imagine other older members to scared to do this. We need some pushing. They are so pretty. May I suggest something? Kind of like when the old lady gets to old to drive the car do it for her or him. You could have a contest to raise GP's offer sigs for bids and extra charge for setting them up. I'm sure a lot are more computer illiterate than I am. LOL>

What made me drawn to review this piece: It was your name: Oldwarrior which drew me in to review your work and the fact you said something like this is just from the heart not to expect perfection. Oh, my dear soldier what you wrote is nothing but sheer perfection. I respect the military with all my might. I don't like war but I know the fight is what's needed to keep democracy as our scraced place. I wish you would read, in my port the letter which won first place in the contest during Christmas. It makes me proud that somewhere across the pond I put a smile on someones face I didn't know.

How it made me feel: Very proud.

Did it connect to the human experience? Yes, beautifully so.

What made me drawn to review this piece: I was so surprised because I just thought this would be another prayer but it wasn't....this was so honest and wasn't a prayer at all because at least a prayer would have given you a little hope. This didn't the evil man should have been beat too death and I've seen it happen so much. You put this so well together written in such a believeable way. I was heartbroken as much for the broken little girl as I was the mother for not being their in spirit. I feel so much. I loved the story "The Lovely Bones."

How it made me feel: So very sad and there is no cure for tha life time of jail or the worst that he can get. You certainly can write. Plwase O jeveris just

Did it connect to the human experience? Yes of course.

Great job nothinhg to add to this for sure.

What made me drawn to review this piece: I didn't know if it was something about flying, about dying, or about 3 children. I just had to see what this was about. It meant so much to me because I have lost so much these past few years. You'll see if you read my Dear Me letter. I try to move past it but when you loose lost ones it hurts so bad. Holidays are the worst. These poem describes it so well. I remember when I stayed with Mom until the end. When she opened her eyes I thought I had her back. Oh, how we miss love ones.

How it made me feel: Very sad that we all have this connection in life. One day or another we will feel this pain.

Did it connect to the human experience? Yes, so much a very good job. Keep writing. This touched me.

Review of A CRY FOR A CHILD
Review by Being Diane

Rated: E | (5.0)
What made me drawn to review this piece: I am a Mother and so often we hear our children crying out to us whether old or young and this drew me in. I love the way it read so smoothly and presented such a horrible experience. I've know so many family and friends who've had this happen to them. One has had shock treatments to her brain more than three times. I find it so sad and you brought out everything even where they put there thoughts on a shelf in order to try and forget them. This is so deep and I have had such an honor to read something powerful. One of the best!!!

How it made me feel:
Very sad that this continues to happen.

Did it connect to the human experience? Yes too much so I'm afraid.

What made me drawn to review this piece: I don't know. I usually don't pick anything like this to review. Hardly ever but I am so glad I did really! This is one of the greatest pieces of dialogue I've ever read. I would honesty think of taking this on a second level and turn it into a novel. The other part is much easier to do than the dialogue. I loved the surprise ending. I have heard of this type of thing happening since I was a kid and went to drive-in movies. I don't know how old you are but they had commercials that people said worked on the subliminal messages in the brain in order to sell hot dogs, candy, and such. I never put much into it but I was on ebay wanting to sell an Audubon painting I have and to autheticate it they told me to take it out of the frame to look at the watermark. When I heard this I thought of the drive-in then I read this...talk about subliminal messages. Really you HAVE to expand on this...this is what sells. Throw in a couple of witches or vampires and it's a best seller for everyone.

How it made me feel: Erie because of the concidences I had before reading this and the ones I had during reading the story. Everything is so believable. Everyone so at ease discussing a subject I haven't thought about until recently. Great job.

Did it connect to the human experience? Didn't have to because it isn't reality or is it?

What made me drawn to review this piece: I really wanted to see of this was going to be just another "peaching essay" instead I found in its place a wonderful story about the ministry of Jesus Christ. Most people put Christ on a shelf and act like they would do what this sailor would do but in reality they wouldn't. They would just turn their head and not think of the wino again. Instead you have brought this beautiful story which is what Christ is all about and we never know when we might be entertaining angels and be unaware. I am going to send a link to a story I have in my port, Lend a Hand. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed reading yours.

How it made me feel: Very warm and in deed recreating trust in our humans who profess to be what they should be. A great job and don't ever stop writing. This flowed so freely.

Did it connect to the human experience? Yes because there are still good people in this world. This story is proof.

What made me drawn to review this piece: I have passed this piece a couple of times and this time it was like someone was taking my hand and dragging me to the writing. I used to work at an environmental camp so I know all about how bad it really is for our earth. I can't believe people don't think we are destroying the earth everyday and the landfill is a fine example. I told someone who worked at the power company how we should pick up where we left off in the sixties and really get busy. She said Jesus was coming so it didn't matter. I quickly replied I think our Creator would be pissed off at what we've done to the earth. I love the way you took simple pieces of an iron which could have been replaced and showed how we really waste.

How it made me feel: Very sad. The landfill make me want to get down and rescue things. My husband found about 30 old school desks...nothing wrong with them thrown out. He rescued about 5 of them and gave to our children and neighbors. They loved them. He wished he could have gotten them all.

Did it connect to the human experience? Of course!

What made me drawn to review this piece: I enjoyed the form you used with the poetry because it is quite a task to take on. I enjoyed the descriptions of how you felt about the changing of the seasons. I think it put me in the place I like to be where it shows not tells how you move from one season to the next just in time.

How it made me feel: Jealous, I moved to the south from Michigan when I was 17 and it brought back the memories I miss so much of playing in the snow. Even adults like to skate, ski, make snow angels and go sledding...snow brings out your youth.

Did it connect to the human experience? Yes, of course.

What made me drawn to review this piece: You reviewing my poem on depression but mine doesn't even compare with this!! I love the way this draws me in and shows me not just tells me what it feels like. You actually took my hand and showed me how it drug me in and showed me the big black dog; how I could fight him and find my own light. You are a great writer and an inspiration to me.

How it made me feel: Makes me want to stump my feet and say, "Leave me depression, I don't need you anymore."

What made me drawn to review this piece: The word Prompt because sometimes they are very hard. Making up something in the spare of the moment takes guts and you did better than I do most of the time and I've been here a long time. Some of the grammar needs correcting like the capitals.

How it made me feel: Kind of sad. I wanted to know more even if you had to put it in a short length. I wanted to know why she had left the paperclip. What really did she think and why did she just leave? There's more that we need in the story: who, what, where, why.

Did it connect to the human experience? Yes, high school wise we've all experienced that wish of love from the most popular people.

What made me drawn to review this piece: I submitted a letter to a solider and decided I would see who thought of such a wonderful contest. So I opened your port and when I saw this letter I had to read it because I lost my Mom in 2010 and it doesn't seem to get easier with time. She was my everything because I guess being an only child I always thought she was so strong but once Ovarian cancer comes you don't last long. I wish I would have had a wonderful Dad as you did, you are blessed.
