Review of WHAT IS IT?

Ahh... "Inspiration"... Yes, it is a real challenge, something that gives us more energy, the gift of ideas, the rambling thoughts that give us the energy to write and write some more. What an "inspiration"...

Review of Behind the Rock
Review by elephantsealer

After reading the writer's "Behind the Rock", I thought this short tale brings up (to me, anyhow) the matter of our being humans. For example, the character learns of stories about old men who seem to know the answer to questions we foster in our lives. We try and learn the mystery that surrounds our humanity. The realization, of course, comes when we actually come face to face with the real answers to all our questions: there are no mysteries; there are only questions that make us more humans... To the author, your tale is a very good read. May you continue to regale us with more "answers" to all the "mysteries" that surround our humanities.

The little things that give us understanding are the abilities we have as humans to realize how much we do not know. Therefore, the realization of our humanity gives us the ability to understand that there is a reason behind things that happen; which the characters in this little episode seem to emphasize. To the writer, this is indeed a reasonable assumption.

"Hope" is something one wishes for when one is in prison. Somehow, though, the character did realize that one day she/he/it would have the freedom again to wear the colors he loved...

This was a good read and review...

To the author of "What Are We Afraid Of?": your piece of work really pulled me in to read it. Actually, I have the same questions that you have...the whys of almost what we experience daily in our lives. And I think the answer is: because we are human, and the Good Creator did make us different from each other; however, from then on, we never learned to accept the many humanness of our neighbors and strangers. We know, for example, that some people have a difficulty to communicate properly with others; and because of that difficulty, people (or shall we say humans?) have a long, long way to accept the differences between a she or a he; or that, perhaps humans have learned from the older generation that preceded them. And it goes on...and on... and on...

To the author, you are not wrong to ask all those questions; maybe one day you, too, will learn to accept what is...

All good wishes,

Review of Down Memory Lane

Memories seem to be one of the ideas that authors write about. It is indeed a good thing to remember, the past, the glory, the feelings of love, whatever it was; but memories are thoughts that we always use to express whatever those memories make us feel.

To the writer, here is hoping you will continue to give us something good to read about...

"The Gift of Independence" represents the author's thoughts about a person who "anonymously" gave a birthday gift that was "generous" and "valuable". It is indeed a good way for one person to help those who need (really and actually need) help. The short piece tells us of the "grand" flowers, of "delicious" "food baskets" and of "functional" "gift cards" received as birthday presents. It is a light story about goodness of the heart as expressed by the writer. Such a beautiful way to write a poem...

Review of Life

This piece of work, "Life", represents hurts and pains that the writer finds necessary to write about. It is a sad poem to read, especially as it concerns parents and children ... in life... I realize, of course, that there are experiences of children (and parents for that matter) that are known to exist within the family structure. However, to express it through works of writing tells me that the author has strong thoughts about family relationships. Here's to the writer: it is a good way to write...

Isn't it fun to write a "fishy story"? Also, isn't it such fun to show that girls are more inventive than boys? Who would ever think of using "gummis" as fishing bait? Of course, this piece of work just shows one of the differences between girls and boys...

It was fun to read...

Review of Pride

"Pride" is an example of a writer's "salute" to men and women, who become soldiers and fight for their country in times of war. It is one way by which we all remember people who are courageous, and willing to give up their lives for their country. Tributes like this poem are expressions of gratitude and "pride" for men and women who are willing to lose their lives for their country.

To the author, may you continue to remember...

This poetry, "Twin Flame", seems to reflect the author's feeling of admiration about a certain "love". It is a pleasant feeling, expressed candidly by the writer. Here's hoping the writer will continue to bring more pleasant thoughts included in all her/his works...

Review of Key to Silence

This piece of work reminds me of the highs and lows of parenting. There is anxiety; anger, too; and a lot more anger and a million more anxieties; however, there is always love. Because "love" becomes the guide to be more of a parent; to be more human; to understand more the "danger" of losing to anger and anxiety. The Writer sums it all with: "I, too, was at peace."

To the Writer, you got it right: pack up the misery and the fear in a bundle and let it fly, let it go... It is indeed one's choice to either be miserable or be a happy-go-lucky individual, and the choice is with you and within you - your decision - and that makes sense... As you say, "live your best life today!"

I am with you there...

Review of That Wicked Night

"That Wicked Night" tells of a killing, an evil and sad event that should not happen to any person. However, it seems clear that this person feels strongly with what to do. When she looks at the two bloody, dead bodies on bed, her thoughts were: "This was what happened on that wicked night." It was indeed a cold act...

To the writer: you have proven that "inspiration" gave you the idea to write the poem. Well done, indeed...

Review of Christmas Haiku

Rated: E | (4.0)
To the author of "Christmas Haiku". Good for you, you must be awfully proud of your son's first Christmas gift... Do you, sometimes realize that our own children do give us some kind of surprise once in a while, like showing their love and appreciation by doing good in school? or give up something else (like weekly allowance) in order to buy something for Mum/Dad?

Do write more, poetry, fiction, whatever else because writing does allow you to expand your ideas and thoughts...

The writer's "Wait till I grow up!" is an example of a typical young person's attitude when she/he reaches a certain age: to drink. I ask myself: why is drinking an important act that one does when one reaches a certain age? I am puzzled. Can one, for example, plan to write a fiction or nonfiction or poetry or something else rather than go for a drink? Or maybe go for a swim in the ocean; or chase the waves in the ocean, for example! Is it typical of the age group growing up to think first of drinking rather than do something else? The mind boggles...

To Tommy, the writer of "Why name it". I believe you are quite sure what you wanted to say in your poem. Writers are apparently (I have been told a lot of times...) have lots and lots of questions when it comes to writing. I believe you know what you are actually saying. It proves that you are, even if you still have questions about it all, that you are a writer... Do write some more and prove to all anyone who may read what you write, that you are indeed a writer...

Review of Faint Voices

Hello, Misty, your piece of writing, "Faint Voices", is an honest and wonderful advice to any one who would read your work. In fact, when we think of the many questions we have in our lives, and equally, the hundred more answers that we give, whether good or bad, we come to the conclusion that life is like faint voices that egg us on, probably not to every one, nevertheless these voices are part of our lives, and will continue to be with us as long as we are behaving normally, as human beings...

Do continue to amaze us with your writing...

Review of What?
Review by elephantsealer
In affiliation with SENIOR CENTER GROUP
Rated: E | (5.0)
To the author of "What"; at first I was puzzled why you wrote this piece. Then as I continued reading, I realized that you have these questions about "the craziness of our society". Do you know that your question is something that cannot be answered, truthfully? We question the craziness; we ask why, what, where and how; and still our questions will not receive a truthful answer that fits every single one in America. If "other people hate Americans for what we "have" is again, nonsensical"; then I suggest you look up and about and every where, and you will realize that Americans are what they are: Americans. Then, we come to your last question: "Are rich people rich if no one does any work for them?" (By the way, as an afterthought, are you a "rich" American?) Can you truly answer your last question? Because I, for one, cannot answer it truthfully...

All good wishes for your thoughts...

Review of EMILY'S SECRET

To the author of "Emily's Secret": I would like to make a few suggestions:

1. When you refer to a girl or boy, please use the right pronoun: a she for a girl/a he for a boy.
2. Please use either commas, semi-colons, periods, etc. when you write sentences.
3. Please use the right verbs; either active or passive.
4. Please use quotation marks when using dialog.
5. Please be aware of your tenses and construct your sentences accordingly: present tense/past tense.
6. I would further suggest that you take time to read "The Chicago Manual of Style". I encourage you to devote a lot of time using this manual.
7. You do have good ideas; however, you will find that the manual will give you lots and lots of ways to write a story properly.

Thank you to the author who wrote, A Child. Yes, children are indeed precious because they are the very image of all parents. They are the generation that bring meaning to what parents have done, for and on behalf of the children. They are the carriers of all the good deeds and thoughts and numerous other things that the parent generation have given them; so that their future is assured bright and golden...

To the author, let us have more to read about children...

The writer of "Femininity & Masculinity" has bravely gone into a subject that should be tabooed. It is a topic that would tire a writer to the extent that no resolution can be achieved to end all the discussion about this topic. Nevertheless, I admire the writer who braved it and wrote about it and also tried to talk about it. I surely would hesitate to comment on it. I refuse to say anything more than: I enjoyed the read and the review...

Review of Gratitude

"Gratitude" as the author puts it is a great feeling that transforms an individual to look at things that make her/him grateful. When a person sees the goodness and the kindness and the beauty of things around her/him, what results are heartfelt joys and happy thoughts...

To the writer, it is always a good thing to feel the joys of being alive.
