The writer is very descriptive in talking about specifics made to avoid arguing with the father. The writer gives important details about the specifics of the accident and is very observant of the victim and the onlookers. The writer appears to feel that she is not listened to and age may be a factor. This may be true or it may be a gender issue. Certainly the writer has every right to be offended as she was dismissed by the police although she was very observant and wanted to be of assistance.
What a poem! The writer seems to refer to man's falling out of grace with his natural environment and humanity. There also seems to be mention of blindsightedness taking place which is articulated by the line - everything is fine. The theme of disillusionment is also indicated. There definitely is a loss of innocence and a seemingly superior status given to one race of people; although this is surely not appropriate.
This is an interesting story. The writer surely scores for freedom as well as tolerance; while stating the point of view he holds. As often happens; there are extremes instead of shades of gray. The writer is clear on explaining what happened with the smoking as well as being clear on some form of restriction. Controversial piece and very interesting!
This is very interesting and very creative! The writer;s technique of making a computer animal friendly is great! The way the writer describes the animal's interaction and the fact that the human had to be put on a waiting list adds a sense of humor to the story. I really liked the ending! What a fun story!
This is very interesting and excitingreading! It catches and keeps the reader's attention as a result of the suspense and the intensity of the events. The description of the characters is vivid and compelling at times. My favorite character is Damien; even with or maybe because of his temper. The characters both complement and contrast elements of the story which enhance the story's quality.
This is a cute story! The writer is very descriptive and relates well. Although it focuses on the surprise that the child had when she found out who the person she and her friend were making fun of was; it also speaks to adult situations where one might think one has the upper hand only to find out one is mistaken!
This is sad but unfortunately very true! I work with homeless and those who have been homeless and sometimes it does seem that no one cares. There seem to be so many in need and not enough programs or caring persons to help them all. Still some do get help and there are some people who make the time to reach out to show that they care.
This is an encouragin and inspiring poem for anyone but particular for those who are forever dreamers. I am forever a dreamer! The writer presents the challenge of following one's dream no matter what circumstances come and no matter how uncertain or tricy the road. Dreaming is personal and all dreams have the potential of being realized if one strives long enough; is real enough and believes .!
This is a very moving story! It evokes compassion and respect. It speaks to courage and determination. I commend the transition that took place in this young man's life as a parent. That speaks to maturity and wisdom. I also salute him in wanting to be a positive role model for this is something that parents who are much older do not always appreciate. I am way past the writer's age and have a different profession but I too have stumbled; tripped overy my own feet before I finally made it. I am also a single parent and agree with the father's statement. Keep your chin up and your head up and get up. As long as there is breath there is hope.
This poem is very descriptive and gives winter a rough personality. It speaks of coldness and heaviness and frost. It also refers to one of winter's voices which is the howling of the wind. One can truly almost feel the cold biting air through the words used to describe the season.
This is an upbeat story! It is interesting and speaks about friendship and attitude. The writer uses the concept of luck to enrigh the interactions of the characters. It is my personal belief that the character's attitude was the real important factor. Although he expressed some misgiving throughout; he was never negative and was resolute in his undertakings. Good story and excellent outcome.
This poem appears to be bittersweet in tone. It also speaks to hopes of bringing about change so tragic things do not happen again. It also addresses human error and the possibility of doing things over. It is very moving and although sometimes the mess cannot be cleaned up; but a new road can be found through life's lessons.
The writer appears to be telling a story about words and what he tries to do with them. There is certainly a message about honesty and truth in words but at the same time there appears to be a question as to how and if one can determine the truth of the words. Still the writer expresses continual effort to use words in the hope that the sincerity will shine through the readers eyes!
This is a cute holiday poem! The writer addresses the idea of surprise; children's curiosity and of course the ultimate issue! The one of being caught! The writer expresses a sense of unity as the children attempt check out the contents of the gifts. There is also the closeted secrecy as an excuse is offered to cover their real reason for being in the basement! A lovely sense of happy mishievous comes through!
This poem speaks of an intense love that seems to be both given and received! It also speaks of an understanding that bonds the friends together. The writer also alludes to loyalty and committment as a result of acceptance. Another thought is that there is nothing as wonderful as a true friend!
This certainly speaks to fear and apprehension of one's pending fate! It also speaks of a foreboding and a hopelessnes of waiting for the inevitable. The writer also speaks to the watching of other people waiting to die! The sad anticipation of the termination of life through the process of victimization is a sad one indeed!
What a moving and compelling. joyful, sad and memorable story. The writer is articulate and paints a vivid picture of the entire family. I was moved by the story of how the couple struggled to get the house; maintain the house and even to reclaim it. This is a love story! A love of family; unity and history. I really was captured by the content and the style! Excellent writing!
This is a powerful poem! The writer speaks to the limitations that seem present to them and to others! However, it speaks to a higher love which I choose to call God who sees beyond the physical and into the soul. It is my belief that all of us have limitations; it is just that they may be hidden instead of in plain view. Who then is the one who is truly handicapped! Stirring and courageous work!
This is an interesting and speaks to people's experiences and the impact of them! It also speaks to the role that alcohol can play and how it impairs judgment. Also the writer shows how one can get caught up in an intense feeling and as the situation changes; so can the outcome! A good story!
This is a clear, quick poem. It certainly speaks to the concept of dreaming which is often fleeting and briefly remember. It moves quickly and has an fast pace rhytmn. I like it!
This poem is a nice tribute to Lisa. It certainly is a reminder of the many unsung heroes that I have met in my life. It is nice that the missing touch is noted in every area and at the end it is a tribute to the one who has been responsible for consideration and time but has not been totally acknowledged.
This is a great story! It has several messages. One is that just because a quick look might make a task very easy; this is not neccessarily the case. Another message is that size alone does not assure a victory. The way the trukeys attacked their captors certainly spoke to the turkey's efforts to remain free! The images that each player had in their head as to how they would spend the money added a lot of spirit and motivation to the story. I also liked the captain who rallied his buddies after their difficult and challenging battle. Of course my favorite scene is the one when the catain asked them if they were going to allow turkeys to defeat them and the players hung in and met with success!
I am an addiction counselor and therapist and I really am moved by this poem. I have worked in addiction for about 20 years and have known persons who speak of falling in an aybss, which is what I get a sense of from this poem. They are some who speak of trying to escape from life's pain and confusion only to find there is no quick fix; no surefire answer. Still I know others who find a way out of the dark hole. They seek help as many times as needed and they learn to trust someone who cares. They cry; scream, do whatever it takes, except give in to the beast of addiction. Keep trying for there are those who care and if you get up, even though the pain seems unbearable; there is someone to reach out to you; to listen and comfort you and believe me--hope brings miracles! God Bless!
This poem is very moving and speaks to the depth of shared intimacy. It also speaks of regrets and reminds me of my own regrets about words better left unsaid! It certainly is a poem that hits home!
