The writer speaks of fear and anticipation at the same time. The writer has expectations and these seem to motivate bold moves. However, at each point along the way, fear of what the final outcome will be; seems to make for hesitation and in the end fear wins and the portrait remains incomplete.

Review of Trying to be Real
Review by dreamlike
Rated: E | (4.0)
The writer appears to be saying a few important things. One is that there are people who think they know the answers for the innocent and so they rush to advise or suggest or order without really understanding what is going on. The other message that stands out to me is that people must find their own way through their own journey and not someone else's. Good poem!

Review of Dreamings
Review by dreamlike

This poem seems to be about pain and anguish. It also seems to be about a longing to know when better times will come. The physical tiredness spoken about is coupled with a tiredness of spirit. The writer speaks to the issue of not being able to supply the body's needs because of a conflict between body and mind.

This is a moving story and I can identify with it. The writer refers to the rush and hustle of our daily lives and also appears to be referring to the way that we put God on the back burner. I certainly need to make more time but I do take time to thank God every morning for his many blessings. The writer also talks about how we can get caught up in our schedules and plans so much that we miss God's message or block out his voice. This is certainly thought provoking!

This is a very moving story and sad, yet powerful story! It reminds me of many things; one being a story that I was told about the mourners bench and how they began. Apparently at one time in a town there were not many people attending funereals. Someone decided to hire mourners so the deceased could be sent of with the idea of being missed. This story reminds me of that story. There is more to it than that however. This story also reminds me of a man who is so alone and feels so much out of place in the daily world; whatever that is; that he seeks funereals as a haven for himself. How sad and yet how real this is for many. Often even in families; when someone dies; family members who may never have visited or called the decease come out to see the person put away. There is an agreement; silent as it were at funereals, that people there miss or loved the deceased. So it is with us.

This poem has a lot to say. The theme of disguise is shown by the line we are not ourselves. The writer appears to be saying that we act out and act on things because of what we are taught. We do this often even when or if we found out that those who taught us were in error. This line also as a result of its continous repitition illustrates how much we are caught up in the confused web.

This is a sweet love poem! The writer presents the them of paitence. The writer also salutes the stars above as a sitting place where she waits. The stealing of a kiss refers to anticipation. The last line refers to committment and reflection of the experience of loving.

Review of Enemy
Review by dreamlike
Rated: 18+ | (3.5)
This is an interesting piece! The lyrics are certainly distinct and clear. There seems to be a need for energy which appears to come from an enemy. The force of fighting against something seems to be part of the theme. The writer seems to be speaking about an assumption on someone's part that is not true.
The last few lines seem to call for the recognition or acknowledgement of an antagonist.

This is a very interesting and passionate piece. As far as saying being a musician is easy; if I were to do this before reading this piece; which I would not do because I also believe being a musician is difficult; I certainly would not do it after reading this. The writer is very articulate and firm and gives a load of examples about the challenges that are faced in playing the flute. Each instrument has its own way but one thing for sure is that discipline is key and discipline in any area is a learned art!

This is a very entertaining and descriptive story. The humor is great. The writer puts all of the right elements together and had me laughing or smiling most of the time as I was reading. There is also some truth as the writer describes the lofty arena that the sports have. The use of being drunk and the ongoing
adding of the amount and type of liquor adds to the story. The ending is great and again this story is lots of fun to read!

This is a touching short story! It speaks of the power of the night and the writer combines all of the night's elements to tell the message. The writer also uses the energy and lull of the night even with the heat to support the movement of the couple and as the writer clearly speaks of the light breeze; one gets a sense of relief from the extreme heat. In the end there appears to be a powerful joining of music; breeze and lifting of the impact of heat that allow the couple to return to rest.

This is a very interesting and valid essay. Things have changed tremendously and it is not always clear as to who should teach what. I am old school thinking and believe that the family needs to be the primary teacher of values. The family in my world consists of the nuclear family; the extended family; the church family and the community as family. This includes the teachers in the school; the coaches and other educational staff. The broader the base is the more likely that children will be able to have a foundation on which to build and to expand as required.

Review of too legal
Review by dreamlike
Rated: E | (4.0)
This prose is loaded and speaks to the confusion of language with a lot of terms piled on top of each other. It also speaks to so much rhetoric and mayham that it is difficult to discern what is correct and what is not. The writer also speakes about the collection of data and the uselessness of it all. In the end the writer seems to be putting so many words that together are confusing and disguise whatever meaning that can be gleaned.

This is a very moving story. The writer speaks about the family and the feelings they have. The writer also speaks about the fire and the fear and anxiety and concern that resulted from it. At the hospital the memories and thoughts of past events and past situations stand out as the parent experiences her fears and concerns.

Review of Hope In Jesus
Review by dreamlike

This is a great poem! The writer speaks many truths. One such truth refers to people being afraid and hiding. The theme of one who protects, loves and sees us through is a beautiful one and one I ascribe to. The writer challenges believers to share the message with others and so we should indeed.

Review of The Ticket

This is funny! The writer has a powerful use of language and articulates and places the words in such a manner that it captures my attention and holds it the entire time. The ways that the person attempts to find out the number are great and really speak to human nature. The greatest part is the ending.

This is an interesting poem. The writer speaks about envy and the wish that of wanting to be desired instead of the friend. The writer also speaks about the destroyed friendship because of the one that feels scorned when she wishes to be the one preferred.

Review of An Evolution; Me

The writer speaks about pressing on to release the inner power. The poem also speaks of hidden mysteries; of outside pressure that can crush the spirit. The writer seems to be referring to the importance of being able to perserve and of the pain that others can inflict upon you if you allow them to.

This poem speaks to the beauty of womanhood. It also speaks to the gift of child bearning and the significance this has. The writer also expresses the wonder of the things that come with being able to bear a child. The ending seems to define the limit of the physical that has a powerful container within.

Review of Talk, please
Review by dreamlike
Rated: E | (3.5)
This is a nice poem about a maiden waiting for her prince. The writer appears to appeal to the prince to notice; to talk; to validate existence. The theme of isolation as a result of being ignored speaks to a yearning of being recognized and accepted.

Review of REMEMBER WHEN
Review by dreamlike
Rated: E | (4.0)
This is a wonderful poem. The writer gives a beautiful portrayal of various types of memories and the eras that they took place in. The poem fills me with nostalgia about the good old days when life seemed much simpler. This poem also speaks to old fashioned values and the ending salutes memories as very precious indeed.

Review of Furry Philosophy
Review by dreamlike
Rated: E | (4.0)
This is a cut poem! The writer uses very descriptive language and truly tells a loving story. The theme of simplicity comes through as the kitten explores her or his world and takes over whenever they choose. It makes me think of a small child who just is and finds their way around in the world without any attention to other things or people. The writer illustrates how direct and consistent and ready the kitten is to just be.

Review of Gone Fishin'
Review by dreamlike
Rated: E | (3.5)
The writer seems to be speaking about taking a break from the regular routine. The gone fishing is certainly appropriate for one might say that by taking the day one is fishing for relaxation; fun or some other mind easing thing. The hook might resemble being caught out or caught up which certainly happens to us as humans.

Review of Winged Beast
Review by dreamlike

This is an interesting poem. The writer appears to be speaking about nature and the intrusion of man into the hemisphere of the winged beast. There seems to be a theme of territory and sovereignty that the winged beast enjoys until man intrudes and upsets the balance.
