This is a great story and I really like it! The author delights the reader with implied meanings that are not revealed initially. The miscommunication that takes place between the father and son is funny and especially noted at the end when the father states that he is glad that he and his son had a talk!

This is a compelling and interesting story! The writer's main character is depicted as a teenager who has one good friend but has no original family ties. The foster brother is cute but is not really important as a connection to the main character. The yearning to make sense of things and to connect is demonstrated by the writer. There are many questions that the writer raises and this increases the suspense of the story.

Review of The Rapunzel Girl

Good Job! The writer does an excellent portrayal of this fairy tale! I liked the twists and turns that the writer introduces! The intrigue and humor give it a delightful read and it is certainly funny! The writer introduces the human element in such a natural way that it really is enjoyable! As for the witch's end; what a pleasant surprise and turn for the prince who had failed at everything else; to finally; although unexpectedly; become a hero!

Review of Constellation

This is a very compelling story! The writer captures the pangs of the ones who are drafted as well as the reasons given by the country as to why they must go and the loyalty that they owe to their country. The writer shows how the young boys are made victims inasmuch as they are chosen as a matter of chance; their birth date. What irony and sadness! The writer also shows how love for each other is less important than the need for soldiers to fight in a war.

The author refers to the impact of the heat and its power! Heat signifies energy and the writer refers to nature's energy when speaking of hot feet and eggs frying on the sidewalk! The writer also talks about nature's passage from heat to rain and the final relief that comes from the breeze and the rain; at the end of a hot and sweaty day.

This is a high-spirited poem indeed! The writer speaks about pride, courage and tenacity. This brings to mind a person who is daring and bold and standing out; even in the midst of those who criticize or poke fun. The end line which speaks of elegantly greeting both dusk and dawn reminds me of the tenacious spirit of this bold, courageous and forceful person. Red is a bold color indded as is the rooster!

This is a poem about depth! The writer refers to the obvious physical signs and urges the reader to look deeper. The writer encourages the reader to take time and see beyond the physically evident. The message is that things are not always as they appear. Another message is that it takes time and willingness to look for what may be hidden and to see that everything that appears one way is not always the way it seems.

Review of My Family and I
Review by dreamlike
Rated: 13+ | (4.5)
This is a sad and moving story! The characters are certainly those that a lot of families can identify with! I am glad that there was an Alice who was the family's hero. The writer gives a good description of a family that is caught up and punished by alcohol.

This is a powerful and compelling poem! The writer articulates with clear language the ravages and pain that wars bring and the loss of soldiers' lives. As far as living lives without thought; this depends on what lives and where in this country those lives are. For many; their home is a war zone or their job or their family. There may not be any mortar or bombs of the military type but there are word bombs or incest bombs or silent heavy bombs. I agree with the last lines of the poem and I believe that it is at home that the love must dominate first and most importantly.

Review of Grammyhood

Cute poem! This reflects on children's growing stages for sure! I am a grandmother and identify with the rocking and other activities. Grandmother or grandfather hood certainly deserves to be a carefree time. A time for those blessed to be one or the other; to love; spoil and tell stories. A time to watch the children grown and it truly does bring a wonderful, cherished, lasting glow.

Review of The guitar
Review by dreamlike
Rated: E | (3.5)
This is an interesting poem. The writer speaks about the melody of the guitar and the flow. The writer speaks about the sweetness of the guitar. The writer also speaks about the impact of the guitar sounds and how they resound in one's head. The feeling of permanence that occurs as the guitar is played pronunces the power of the guitar's sound and influence.

This is a nice, sentimental story about Valentine's Day. The writer reminds me of how many men think about Valentine's Day; with the candy; the stuffed animals and such. The writer gives a wonderful description of the relationship that exists between her and her guy. She gives many examples of how they show their appreciation for each other; especially in terms of her guy. The fact that the little every day things are not lost sight of by him is wonderful and I tend to agree with the ending. The guy is in tune with and sensitive to her needs all year and what more could one ask for.

Review of Quarters

Rated: 13+ | (4.5)
This is a moving story! The writer speaks of friendship at its highest peak. The writer also talks about fraility and confusion and emotions that catch the boys. The bond that they share is special and as their is a tenderness that exists between them; the physically weaker one reaches to the physically stronger one for validation. Perhaps the kiss was experiemntation or exploration but its very act damaged a friendship that was solid.

Review of Not that fun....

Rated: ASR | (3.5)
This is a good story but is hard to read because of some of the sentences and some of the grammar usage. The reader has a difficult time separating some of the ideas because of the way the story is written. It was hard for me to understand the story's flow because I was not clear as to how the present and past tense was used. The story needs some work to make it clearer and easier to read.

The writer does an excellent job of summarizing the effect of alcoholism on relationships. The writer describes the depth of the impact by talking about the actions of the father and the son. The 'acting as if'; when the reality is too unpleasant and scary to face. The charade is played by both parties; perhaps because neither person knows a way out.

This is a powerful and moving story! The writer describes the river and its majesty. The writer also describes the river's purpose and its personality which is to flow unending and with disruption. The loyalty of the man whose mother spoke to the river was steadfast, solemn and true. The writer managed to express how man's greed plays a role in his indifferent to important things; which certainly was illustrated with the death of the man who had control over the river. The force of nature and of the purpose that it plays was described well. The ending was sad but the man who was truly devoted to the river's call and his mother's voice; followed through to his end.

This is a poem about struggle and heartache! The writer speaks about the hardship of not having money. The writer also highlights the impact that not having money can have. Helps is asked for in terms of enduring and holding on. The writer speaks of making things better. To make things better; faith is needed for one must believe that what is seen will not always be but will be replaced by what is not seen.

Review of Monster
Review by dreamlike
Rated: 13+ | (4.5)
This is quite a story! A sad and tragic one! The writer describes the ultimate betrayal of innocence and trust. The writer also identifies the teacher who choose to help the child but seemed not to know how because he too had no idea. The theme of secrets is highlighted and the writer vividly identifies alcholism and the part that it plays in the ultimate betrayal. The mask is a cruel sadistic twist that the father uses for his own sick purposes.

Review of Tried & True

What a moving story! The writer tells a story about the process of aging and the dilemma of those who loved the one who is aging. The writer also talks about two different worlds; the one of yesteryears and the one of today. The idea of putting their mother into a nursing home reflects a problem that many of us face today with our aging parents. I admire the tenaciousness and spirit of the mother and empathize with the children. The writer allows the mother to live the world with her dignity and a quiet resignation to nature's call.

Review of Lying in Wait
Review by dreamlike
Rated: E | (4.0)
This is short but powerful! The writer speaks to the pain of not being able to see and what this means in terms of life experiences. The writer speaks about the inability to reach and satisfy the physical or mental urges that exist as a result of not being able to see. The writer speaks of the pain of not knowing. I am not sure if this not knowing refers to the inability to see; which I think it does. There is also the not knowing that can come when we do see but still cannot see anything but the obvious. Often there are hidden things that take more for us to see. The pain of not knowing seems that the writer equates the ability to see with the ability to know; which is not always the case. Yearning for imganiary things speaks to unseen things and letting the darkness consume me indicates accepting total limitations because of the physical lack of sight.

Review of EMPTY GLASS
Review by dreamlike
Rated: E | (4.5)
What a story! The writer certainly included some delightful twists and turns! The irony is evident in the details the writer gives. The moral may be that sooner or later; our behavior has to be reckoned with. The fact of the murder of the thief certainly showed that one never knows what the source of reckoning is or who will be the one to perform the final outcome.

This poem is about the year's seasons. The steel blue dawn refers to the stiff cold that comes with the winter's morning which greets us one and all in its voice. The writer refers to the robin's song that is short-lived as it broods because the light, warm, airy season is over too soon. The tree flames at dusk refers to the passing of spring and fall returning once more.

This is an interesting story! The writer is very detailed in talking about his characters. It seems that there are two people who are very lonely and although they come from different backgrounds they appear to have one thing in common. This is the voices. Each of them hear voices and for one the voices are comforting; for the other the voices are scary. The writer manages to allow both of them to develop a relationship with each other in spite of the voices and in the end; they manage to have enough reality to manage the impact of the voices; especially when appropriate medication was taken. In the end they overcome their illness enough to love and live with each other.

This is an interesting story. The writer describes a young boy who becomes a victim of his parent's housekeeper. The writer does not say a lot about the relationship between the boy and the housekeeper; if there is any of significance. There is not a lot said about the boy and his parents living together. The writer speaks more about the housekeeper and her antics. She appears to be interested in the house cleaning and the boy is an add on. This makes it easy for her to put the blame on the child.

Review of Oxygen

This poem certainly speaks to total dedication to someone who loves! The writer completely absorbs the very existence of their being with the survival of another. This is perhaps a noble venture; however, I tend to think that to totally give oneself to another is to lose oneself. I think that one can love deeply and be dedicated an at the same time have a separate identity. Just my view! It is a passionate poem though!
