The author also has a sense of humor earlier in the story and at the end. This adds extra spice to the story. I like the fact that the author gave the with human qualities that are modern and I love the part about the broomstick. What a powerful, compelling and tragic love story! The author does an excellent job of conveying the tortured wife who became obsessed with her husband. A good job was also done on describing the husband who tried to be understanding and supportive of his wife; especially when they lost their child. The author illustrates how a healthy love can change and turn into a deadly obsession as a result of life circumstances. In this case the circumstance seemd to be the loss of the child. The wife refused to take another chance on having a child and also refused to seek therapy. The author's story was sadly realistic inasmuch love can become twisted and destructive. There is power and sadness and the end is tragic indeed.
This is an interesting story! The author builds up the momentum of the story with the conversation that Jed has with the woman in his dream. The author also returns to the dream with a deja vu scene. The difference is that this time Jed quits; not waiting to see if the woman will do in reality what she did in the dream.
This is a powerful and compelling story! The author does an excellent job in describing the family; the fear; the struggle and the beliefs! As I read it; it brought back memories of my experience in the South!. The father's words and advice also reminded me of Martin Luther King. The author also painted a clear picture of the racism and cruelty and inhumanity of the Klan. The legacy of the father was one of determination to live and not to fall into the violent pit of the enemy.
This was an interesting story and certainly speaks to being honest and trusting! The fact that the advertisement misrepresented the actual place is not something new although it certainly was a sad thing for the new bride and groom! The author has a strong spirit which is attested to by the efforts to make the best of the situation in spite of the all of the negatives. Truly these efforts were rewarded by getting some of their money back. One thing for sure; this honeymoon was one not to be forgotten!

The author uses the relationship between the brother as a tie-in to conflict; especially in the end. The elaborate lengths that the brother went to in order to seek revenge was extensive indeed. In the end; a lot of issues have come up; the brothers' relationship; the desire to be recognized as a writer and the quirkiness nature brought to life through the tape recorder.

The author's language speaks to the power over life that each weapon can demonstrate. When the author speaks about the masters demise and corruption giving power, I am reminded of a sword which brings to mind the duel concept. The author also managed to include the concept of impact even after death through the use of the letter that the grandfather had given his grandchildren. This story is truly a family story that is full of love and wonderment!

The author also made good use of the surprise element which was discovered only towards the end of the story.
